Internet Spaceships: Serious Business!
« on: 20 May 2011, 14:47 »

I'd just like to remind everyone to relax, chill the hell out, and take a few steps away from yourselves and your characters. Go outside, take a walk, maybe have a beer.

Back? Feeling refreshed? Great.

I know we occasionally get involved emotionally, but good lord people.

Silas gave someone a particularly nasty IC tongue-lashing the other day about a few things and I got several ooc mails them saying how I wasn't a 'real' amarrian role player, etc etc.

I'd like to remind everyone that if you don't like someone's IC goings on, then just steer clear, or maybe talk to them privately, etc etc. It's a big IC world out there, and if you don't seek out drama it shall rarely make effort to find you in turn. We're all (I hope) intelligent, cool people IRL, or at least I'd like to think so. Let's keep that up, mm k?

I liked the part where it was against the terms of ceasefire negotiations to shoot back at people trying to destroy our control tower, tbh.

Surely we can riposte things we see as idiotic with humor and vigorous debate?

Cool as a cucumber here Silas. But on balance I think you are right about the no ooc discussions with enemies. You have to laugh though right ?  :)

That was never said Julianus. There was no ceasefire - your request for one was refused. We at no time expected you to stop shooting back.

Soter. Internet spaceships. That kind of comment, ooc, is exactly the sort of thing that is unnecessary for our community. Come on man, relax here.

Well, with that line of reasoning we should ban all OOC discussion about all IC events. Meaning, we have nothing to talk about.

I used that as an example of how OOC discussion of IC events gives an appropriate summary and highlights the important circumstances of an extremely complicated and otherwise mindboggling situation. Using humor to spice the post.

Tend to agree with this post.

That's just it though, I don't think any of this should be overly important, mindboggling, or confusing.

I'm sorry if I missed your humor, thought you were being snarky. Apologies.

I didn't realize moderators were supposed to advocate specific posts or positions of members the general community, and were supposed to instead make their own moderation comments or decisions based on the forum guidelines.

Is there a forum guideline against OOC commentary on IC events?

We have a million things to talk about, but we should all be on the same team. Weather you turn my little grey bars to red or not, we're all on the same team at least as far as I'm concerned.

Okay then. As I said I didn't at the time believe that came from a current Star Fraction member. After all you posted the mail anonymously with no proof. I am still surprised to be honest.

But as I said this viewpoint has not been expressed to the Star Fraction directorate or memberbase and has not been expressed in voice discussions to me thus far.

Paul is welcome to his opinion, Star Fraction is an alliance of many opinions after all.

Doubtless he and I will have a discussion later on.

I trust you gained his full permission before revealing his private evemail to an open forum?

[mod]When the position is essentially restating the mission statement and guidelines, yes, we are happy to make official statements backing that up. Talk OOC about IC events all you want, as that's the purpose of this specific board (sub-forum). But do so with respect and courtesy for your fellow players.[/mod]
