News:

that the Minmatar military specifically recruits hardened criminals for service in its elite Valklear units, and that many of the Republic's most senior officers were originally recruited in this way?

Hello!
« on: 03 Mar 2011, 16:49 »

My name is Jack, and I am addicted to Eve.

I played the game a bit as a different character before deciding to get into roleplaying, then started this one so that I could generate a story and persona from the get-go.  I currently have the bones of my character mapped out, and am in that phase where I'm trying to read as much lore as possible while dabbling a bit in the rp forums, chats, etc.

IRL, I am a coffee- and beer-obsessed library student married to a psychiatrist.  My wife is also an utter nerd, but I can't get her involved in the game.  I also can't really convince her that it isn't about penises...though to be fair, I fly a stabber.  Hopefully, I'll get to know all of you better (and vice versa) in the imminent future!

Coffee and beer? Then we already know the answer to our standard opening questions.

And show her a Thorax, THEN see what she thinks!

I showed her what game I was playing while flying that mission where you have to rescue the crew of the Oberon--which is an Armageddon.  Seeing the Stabber poking the Armageddon, I think, was about as iconically fallic as possible.

We're all addicted to something.

We sell most of those things.

... drinking wine by the chicken. :)
Is that an euphamism?
Anyway, welcome. Sansha hugs are the rage here, give them some love. That and wierd Amarrian men giving candy are to be avoided at all costs.
I see you've met the men in sharp suits, so I'll leave you to get acquainted. Cookies are on the table.

No euphemism at all, actually.  There are real people in New England who believe in using big ole' chicken-shaped pots to serve wine at parties.  They quoted me some theoretical story about an Italian lord's household being saved by chickens.  The gist is that there was a wedding with much drinking, and enemies decided to sneak in and slaughter all the partygoers all while they were drunkenly asleep the next morning.  The chickens made a ruckus, though, waking everyone up so they could defend themselves.

So serving wine out of chickenery is supposed to be good luck, though I have been unable to verify this story independently.  It very probable given the size of the chickens that they are permanently drunk and delusional.  Twas a great weekend.
