The recording shows that as the robed figure is dragged away its hood falls off, revealing a helmet with a matte black visor. The figure was also seen to be wearing full body armor of unidentified design. It is unknown at this point whether the suspect is dead or alive.

To me this immediately screamed two things.

No.1 - Dust trooper. This is the more likely.

No.2 - The old khanid cyberknight portraits. Less likely, but considerably cooler >.>

New Eden should be burning , and should have been burning for the last several years.

I think the Empires have had enough time to 'consolidate' any leadership transitions from TEA and should be putting boots to necks of enemies at this point.

I don't think actually that New Eden should be burning, or well, not that way at least. We already lost a lot when they decided that the Empires should all be in a proxy war instead of the old cold war they were into, with CONCORD and Yulai in the top of it (UN style but with teeth to enforce it).

It was way more interesting and generating a lot of internal conflict. It also allowed a lot of inter factionnal infighting since the 4 factions were actually not at war. Now that they are, showing internal dissent is unrational and counterproductive... Which limits actually a lot the different conflicts available.

It was also good in the sense that it was easier to see Caldari vs Amarr and Gallente vs Minmatar than now, since both alliances were less formal.

In the end the old situation allowed a lot more granularity, and skirmishes between everyone were less likely to be brought up to a galactic conflict scale everytime (without that war/coalitions combination that we have now).

I just do no t agree on the severity - "crippling" would be a very strong word.

I'd actually go with "a bullet to the back of the head." as a more accurate metaphor for what TEA did to established Caldari RP.   So many of my friends quite Eve that year  :(

I wanted to be you friend Hamish

As I've never read Tony G and am not someone who's in EVE from the start, I have limited knowledge of how Jamyl was portrayed. I choose to ignore Tony G anyways though, and all I've read about Jamyl doesn't really portray her as "a wimpy, weak-willed character".

Same here. Not read any EVE novels. Not seeing that portrayal at all.

Why do you guys even read stuff that you don't like and know its gonna affect your perception of EVE in a bad way anyway?

They didn't exactly put that on the back of the book cover when first released

Anyone have an idea, what's the deal with guristas? If it were they, why would they want to do this?..

Well, seems like Heth represents many of the things the Guristas don't like about the State

I'll posit one of our favorite Guristas supporters might have thrown them a bone as well :)

Long story short Jamyl as portrayed in the 'novels' is more of a 'tortured soul' fighting with being possessed by dead ancient beings, drug-induced lesbian daliances, and, and whining about not wanting to be the Empress.

God-Empress of a trillion devoted holy-warriors she is not.

As I said, the Tony G books aren't counted under EVE background by me, my chars don't know 95% of the stuff that happened in them anyways, so why should I bother? Also, I think she's not supposed to be God-Empress (That's a Sabik thingy), but rather Caesaropopess.

That's the rational part of your brain talking.  If they thought like that the State wouldn't have rolled the entire fleet dice on retaking Caldari Prime, the Matari wouldn't have invaded the Empire, etc.

Ambition and rationality don't always go hand in hand, as most rational people wouldn't willingly kill millions of people to get a little more territory, wealth, and status.

And I think history shows that even though there are episodes of irrationality, most of how it went is subject to rational interests of nations, that go about reaching them in a rational kind of way. Nations don't have ambitions, they have interests. The Caldari retaking of Caldari Prime and the Matari invasion of the Empire (though both had imho their rational elements - though not necessarily from the point of view of the respective political entities, but from the point of view of those grabbing for power within those political entities - people that had ambitions) were bouts of irrationality enough. All out war would just go against my suspension of disbelief.

Also, killing millions of people for a bit more territory, wealth and/or status might very well be the rational thing to do, imho, if the gains outweigh the expected losses. It might not be reasonable to do it anyways, but there is a difference between 'rational' and 'reasonable'. The Nazi's were all in all quite rational and effective in what they were doing, unfortunately they weren't quite that reasonable.

Also, as Lyn pointed out, it's a situation that limits RP more and more within and agmongst the 4 main factions of EVE and as such I think it's a bad thing.

Well at least it wasn't Ishukone, hopefully. That sounds pretty Arkombine to me, unless it was a specific affiliated group of Dusters.

The Inner Circle, CONCORD's prime regulatory body, has sat in closed session since early this morning. It is unknown at this point what the subject of their session is, but unconfirmed reports indicate that wide-ranging legislative changes may be under discussion.

Maybe I was wrong. Prelude to Retribution bounty changes...not Caldari Prime at all.

Yet, that FIO devactor still said to watch the news the coming weeks when taunted about CP.
