What could be of benefit to everyone would be an mechanic/entity in between corporation and alliance/faction.

This.

You are a capsuleer, not an employee of a major NPC corp, which btw, hires regular people as employees and hires your services for as contractor doing mission runs. Such relation is good and maintains the status quo between normal people and podders.

But the creation of a mechanic to "flag" your corporation or organization aligned to a certain faction, imposing restriction and providing benefits, sounds much more appealing in my view. This could be a big step to revitalize low-sec:

A "corruption" expansion portraying a fight between empire factions and pirate factions for the control of the border zones.

If i'm not mistaken this was already mentioned a couple of times in the Eve vegas gathering or the eve-o forums.

That Viceroy system, ain't it?

OP, you may be aware that there was once a brief time when it was possible to join NPC corporations. Perhaps part of the avenue of strengthening the proposition is ascertaining why this was discontinued so that you can explain why those reasons are not strong enough to justify a maintenance of the status quo?

How would the rpers get to shoot each other?

When you join FW, you join the 'corp' that is directly involved with the war, however, that corporation is still tied under the nation as a huge umbrella for the sake of FACTIONAL warfare.

The Federal defence union, as an example, is an NPC corp inside the Gallente Federation. FEDEF is NOT at war with STPRO, FEDEF is part of the Fed who is at war with the State, and the state maintains the only joinable NPC corp as part of the war to be the State protectorate.

PLAYER corps joining FW basically become a 3rd tier under the second NPC tier to the nation they decided to join; the "Alliance" tag on the EL-G, or PIE or whoever does NOT say FEDEF or 24IC, it says "Gallente Federation" and "Amarr Empire".

An easy fix to letting RP members of other  NPC-corps kill one-another (as no corp stands on it's own outside an empire without being flagged as a pirate corp, thus all members of said corps should be automatically flagged as outlaws) is to simply add all NPC corps under the umbrella of an empire as members of the war-effort. Or simply add a few more to the mix, leaving the noob-corps and corps like the scope and aliestra etc. out of this list.

Though ofc, if they did that, they might as well remove corps like the 24IC etc. replace them with the respective navies. Honestly they should have done that from the get-go and saved us this hassle of trying to figure out if the FW NPC's are mercs or navy personell or para-militaries or whatever, but that's another issue entierly.

PF wise that wouldn't make any sense at all, unless they move the story to almost a full state of war involving most of the NPC corporations.

We can only hope.

Seriously, I've long wanted to see the factions all break down into civil war: holders against holders, megacorps against megacorps, tribes against tribes... I don't know what internal divisions make the most sense for the Fed, but anyway.

In such a situation, something akin to the OP might get more traction.

Hello, I am Lady Lou, the Empress's fashion advisor, as you can see, as I am a member of Emperor Family.

"Blue and green must never be seen, without something different in between" - The Scriptures, Book Of Fashion, 47: 5-6

Unless there were some kind of restrictions, e.g. if a player had recruitment roles, but then that player becomes the sole interpreter of PF.

"Blood Raiders are what I say they are. You don't get to interpret the PF for yourself"

And so on.

Thanks for the feedback guys.. I knew this draft was going to need some work, and figured you'd be able to point me in some good directions.

The idea that I've had is to use some of the existing FW framework to let players and player corps join under say, Serpentis. The corp chat would work the same way, allowing individual pilots to be able to communicate with those who are in loyalist corps, who sometimes use it as a flat out recruiting tool, at least in FW. I envisioned it as a way for people with similar interests, in this case Serpentis, to meet each other...

And also that the alliance tag would display that said person or corp is part of Serpentis...

My idea about corp-vs-corp mission chains was more for PVE... There are some existing missions out there where the text mentions "denying our competitors this or that person, resource or thing"  I was thinking along the lines of semi-specific inter-corp espionage type missions, that raise standing with one and lower the other.. Home Guard vs Space Lane Patrol, or Minedrill, or anybody for that matter..

But I can see that adds some confusion.. perhaps I should take that part out. I didn't really intend to imply that all of New Eden should go into civil war.. I didn't have any grand PVP ambitions in mind. Just the chat rooms and alliance ticker.

Honestly I've met a number of people who liked the idea of FW, but were turned off by the whole KOS in half the cluster, and perma-decced in the other half. This would provide some of the 'good' aspects of FW while denying the 'bad' ones..

That does bring up one thing I'm not clear on.. my understanding was that CCP denied alliances to join FW out of concerns that someone like the Goons might jump in and thoroughly overwhelm FW to the point where it was unplayable. Is this correct, or do you think it had more to do with them not having a structure beyond 'alliance' which could include alliances?

Because, if it was the former purpose, then there should be no reason to keep alliances out of it, as there wouldn't be any specific PVP applications to get blobbed... And if the latter.. well poop.  :)

I'm still going about digging for answers about why they changed it back in the day.. hopefully I'll find something useful... and to those who were wondering.. I know that CCP has waaaay bigger and more urgent things on their plate than something like this.. I was just hoping to get this or something similar on the CSM backlog so it might be considered in 3-5 years..  :P

You may think that you're joking, but during his illness Aritcio Kor-Azor issued an edict forbidding the wearing of green in his presence.  Or possibly making the wearing of green mandatory.   I forget, I lost the Brother Joshua chat logs a while back.
