Americanism
You use this word way more frequently than is actually applicable.
Ehh, yes. I'll echo that. Frankly, not everyone sees Gallente as inspired by modern America.
Also, Lallara went into his curmudgeon place again. Certainly indoctrination has its place from the viewpoint of the central government, but I think we can pretty much view the Federation as a place that glorifies individualism and eschews that kind of mob indoctrination. It's in all levels of society, from the member-states with their freedoms from the central bureaucracy down to the planetary governments being vastly varied in nature, all the way down again to unique individuals being likely glorified in the media.
Of course, there is a point where the apparent opposites of indoctrination vs individualism come together in yin and yang like fashion, with the indoctrination telling you to be individualistic... that paradox needs to be incorporated into a critical appraisal of the Federation.
Oddly, the struggle between centralization vs decentralization (so prevalent in current EU politics and in its own shape always present in US politics) seems to be largely (though not entirely) absent from the Federal political scene. I maintain that its because the Federation is pretty firmly in the decentralized camp these days.
