The Beatification of Saint Tetrimon
« on: 21 Sep 2010, 03:33 »

There's been a few people on the IGS lately talking about Saint Tetrimon being beatified.

Whilst in the Roman Catholic church saints have all been beatified, it's simply one step on the road to sainthood.

There are basically three grades of holiness:

Veneration, after which one is known as the Venerable (name);
Beatification, after which one is known as the Blessed (name);
Canonisation, after which one is known as Saint (name).

Since he's a saint, the correct word to used in this instance is canonised.

Just thought I'd be a bit of a pedant and point that out  ;)

I'm still waiting to be canonized myself.

After all, I did die already, right?
