This is an excellent thread! I love reading the responses.

The Good

1. Leadership. Kyoko is good at her job, generally speaking. She has the archetypal Deteis gravitas that makes her a great leader, although she finds herself far more comfortable being the right-hand woman or XO rather than CEO or fleet commander.

2. She has a heart and wears it on her sleeve. Kyoko was an only child to parents who focused on their careers and weren't around nearly enough for her (she was not a tube child) and to compensate she has been there for others. This is particularly true when it comes to loyalty to friends and family, but she has no qualms about listening to or helping total strangers from other cultures.

3. Integrity. Kyoko is honest, principled, and will do exactly what she says.

4. Happily married and will likely stay that way, which brings a semblance of normalcy to the capsuleer social condition.

The Bad

1. Hates herself for past choices and often regrets the paths she has taken, such as becoming an outlaw. This is particularly true if you ever ask her about her relationship with her parent corporation Ishukone. Her sense of loyalty is so strong that it has gotten her into great trouble on several occasions.

2. PTSD and potential bipolar disorder as a result of multiple past trauma.

3. Alcohol and drugs on account of #2.

4. Wide worldview, narrow outlook. She is an absolute cynic when it comes to affecting change. Some of this is because of her obsession with past events in her own life and some is because she feels change is best affected on an interpersonal level. She believes that individuals change but societies don't; essentially that hegemony is painted in absolutes. Any spark of optimism is usually reserved for the success of small groups of people.

I am loving this thread, a lot! I learned things about Samira, Koko, and many others that I didnt even know OOCly before, and which make so many people so much more real to me! Thank you all for doing this.

I guess I will cover both characters, shortly:

Ava, IC Good:
Loyalty: Ava is fiercely loyal to her tribe, clan, and friends.
Intuition: Ava is not the sharpest knife in the kitchen, and she knows it. She is also very worldly and experienced, and possesses an actual, genuine wisdom which aids her in myriad ways, from combat (which she loves) to personal interactions, though she pales next to K in this.

Ava, IC Bad:
Honesty: Lets face it, Ava is as blunt as they come. She is one  small step behind Anslo in this department.
Temper: Ava is hot-tempered and passionate, and it is not hard to really anger her. It may also not be smart, but it isnt difficult!
Self-Esteem: Ava has extremely low self image; she sees herself as a runty, barely literate middle aged ex con, and wishes people would not put faith in her, she is sure she doesnt deserve it.
Obsession with her own death: Ava is, simply, obsessed with her own death, and with "a good death" when the time comes. She sees this as her only chance to redeem herself for some things she has done.

Kyllsa, IC Good:
Multi-faceted: Kyllsa is worldly, intelligent, extremely wise, charismatic, and confident. She is quite aware of her own qualities, and also quite aware that she must work doubly hard to overcome the prejudice she encounters due to her mixed ancestry. She learns very quickly.
Kindness: Kyllsa is very generous and kind, especially to those who she sees as disadvantaged or lesser.
Curiosity: This may be an advantage or disadvantage, but Kyllsa is simply obsessed with seeing what is around that next bend, how things work, how Caldari really prepare tea, etc etc. She will sometimes allow her desire to learn to override her cautions.

Kyllsa, IC bad:
Nationalism: A SEBIESTOR CONSTELLATION FOR SEBIESTOR FOLK! Kyllsa is somewhat racist - particularly against other Matari - and very proud of her Tribe. She is also quite a firm believer in the Sebiestor matriarchal system, and that Sebbies should have their own nation, unburdened by the other Matari - except maybe the Starkmanir, who she sees as poor cousins who genuinely deserve some help and guidance. She does not dislike the other Tribes, as much as she believes they need to remember how to be Matari; after all, the Sebbies came through the occupation the most culturally intact!! She may overplay some of this, by necessity, to offset doubts others may have due to her Amarrian ancestry.
Trickery: Kyllsa is quite a manipulator, and has no problem patting an ally on the back just long enough to find a place for the knife, if it confers advantage to her, the Clan, or the Tribe. Her loyalties to anyone outside her own Tribe are fickle, at best, though she DOES genuinely value her friendships, and is often torn between them and cultural expectations.
Temper: K is Sebiestor, and she has the temper to prove it. She can sometimes lose her composure and demonstrate the Sebbie tendency for anger.

Ayallah

Most of her the traits that define her can be traced back to her upbringing as a Kameira.

The positive traits:

1. Spirituality Ayallah's spirituality defines her.  As a child her ideas about god were simple and crude and the shock and breaking of that faith was her lowest point.  Since that time she has been searching everywhere for god.  To her the best times in her life were as a Kameira when things were simple and she knew who god was and her place in the universe.  When that was lost she hit rock bottom. Spirituality is what has pointed her drive and willpower away from simple short term concerns and easy pleasures and to discovering the universe and all in has to offer.  It is what is leading her to look inward into herself and outward at everyone else in a new way.  Her search for god is who she is.

2. Self Awareness More and more Ayallah is becoming introspective.  When her drive and willpower fueled a young Kameira it was the awareness of faulty breathing causing a shot to miss.  Of panic and fear taking hold and causing her to lose focus.  As she has grown older it has caused her to question more and more how she reacts to things, what things effect her, why she acts in the ways she does.  Slowly the Kameira is examining itself and wondering who it is.  The introspective nature of her people, and her drive to improve is causing her to undertake the most painful test of all: self improvement, acknowledging who you are both the bad and the good.  This self awareness is not always there, She has moments of clarity and times when she is not thinking about anything at all.  It also can cause her to overstep in pointing out the flaws in others as she assumes everyone is as focused on it as she is.  It causes her to wear her heart on her sleeve.

The good/bad

3. Drive Ayallah's drive is an absolute.  Her drive and ambition leads her to constantly go forward.  I made this a positive trait because in her drive she has become a much better person in the seeking of improvement, it has turned a slaver into a liberator.  But it is also a source of much of the bad she does, she will dig into someone with little concern for their feelings or who they are in the seeking of what she wants.  She will become self destructive before she will stop trying to do something she cannot.  It makes her relentless and it makes her stubborn.  She will die before she stops moving forward.  To her forward is the only direction.  She will take, hurt and destroy anything and everything and everyone on her way toward what she wants and only her self awareness and spirituality make her drive into something positive at all.

4. Will  Ayallah has the will to back up her drive, no number of defeats can break her resolve.  She will do always what she is driven to do, what she thinks is right.  To her, it is not about defeats it is about being defeated.  No pain and no hardship will ever compare to how she feels when she is not doing her best, not getting back up.  No hell is worse than her own self loathing.

The Negative:

1. Lack of Empathy Having seen as much as she has has and how she was bred made her cold to nearly everything.  She has no sympathy for anyone else and simply cannot feel what others do.  No matter how much she tries she cannot even express concern for a child without doing so for a calculated reason, even if it is a good reason like comforting someone.  Her lack of empathy stems from her breeding and upbringing and experiences.   She is very aware of this in herself and associates it with a distance from god.  her lack of empathy also translates to herself and causes her to be completely unforgiving of her own mistakes.

2. Arrogance/pride From as early as she can remember she has been told of her superiority over others.  As a Kameira she was taught that she was closer to god than all but  the True Amarr.  Her breaking made her realize the faults in the true amarr and her successes as a capsuleer have only bolstered her resolve that she is in the right.  Truly this is what holds her back the most from improvement and causes her to treat others as she does.  She probably would never admit her arrogance or pride as to her, they are completely justified.  Only when she is proven wrong does she see the flaw of arrogance.  It is especially difficult for her to acknowledge as she often associates arrogance with hubris and she is very calculating on the battlefield and off and rarely makes a mistake due to her pride.

3. She enjoys hurting people She gets the most rush from hurting others, no drug or alcohol or sex has ever been equal to how she feels when she is hurting someone else.  The rush of killing, defeating, causing pain, dominating; are hardwired into who she is.  It is so much a part of her that even with how introspective she is, she still has never once questioned or tried to stop her need to go and fight and kill something.  She is aware of it, but a slave to it to such a degree that she has never tried to change it.

Good

Generous
Norrin likes to give gifts.  Whether it's cash, something he's crafted himself (navy ships are common), or a shopping spree, Norrin enjoys sharing the wealth.

Bad

Needy
Norrin was a spoiled child and is very uncomfortable without someone to take care of him.  He is a typical mama's boy, and despite the fact that he finds his mother intrusive, he appreciates that she treats him as though the universe revolves around him.

Good
1) Manages to be a good, kind caring sort of person
2) Polite. Obviously exceptions for every rule but will generally conduct herself in a civilised fashion

Bad
1) Deeper interaction. As someone who wishes her own past to remain hidden, she has a tendency (with a few notable exceptions) to not enquire about things people haven't decided to discuss with her
2) Racial sensitivity. Very aware of the wider perception of Amarrians. Always very offended when sweeping statements include her in this.
