I only plan to get scared if Cyprus defaults, and THEN someone else's banks start having trouble. As it is, I've only sold stuff that did get affected.

I have a really simple solution to the ongoing financial crises:

Kill the rich and take their stuff.

That doesn't work. We've tried it.

This sums up my feelings for the Euros when I heard Cyprus and crew were going to jack 40% of account earnings over 100,000$ for the government. Citation might be needed, my father told me about this.

That's called taxing, nothing more, even if that's harsh at that magnitude.

They're going to let one bank fall, the Laiki (Cyprus Popular Bank). Accounts under 100k are safe, transferred to Bank of Cyprus (which apparently will be nationalized). The rest may default, the details are a bit unclear. Laiki & Bank of Cyprus accounts over 100k get hit by 40% special tax. When Cyprus gets their part collected, EU chips in about 10 billion euros. For some time on, withdrawals will be limited to 300 euros per day. (Credit cards not limited, except to 5k for people abroad.)

The above according to Finnish news, mainly the Uusi Suomi "web paper" and YLE (national broadcasting co).

Next week, we may be talking about Hekla, anyway.
