Just wanted you to know that I am happy to see you here, and that I've donated you 5 votes for the good cause ;)

Get involved and set in here once your time allows it, it's one of the best places to talk about EVE, RP and such.

Or just bitching about it, that works too.

Thanks for the votes!  And thanks to everyone else as well for the warm welcome and support.  I look forward to spending more time here for sure once this election circus has settled down.  I've got a TON of reading and catching up to do!  Pleasure to meet you all, as well as to see some familiar faces.

First: Listen, Hans we already know each other  :P
But Hi and welcome on the Forum.

Ahhh neat! It's fun to go back and re-read old posts.  I wasn't very alarmed when the NEX store first came out, but in retrospect the whole thing could have been handled better.  Personally I find the use of Aurum rather immersion-breaking and overly commercial, because it is used in such limited fashion.  If there were a whole host of cool things coming out that couldn't have been financed otherwise, I could understand its use.  But for what we've seen so far, I don't imagine there's been enough revenue they couldn't have just sold the clothing for LP instead.

My big concern for the future is that features like ship skins and corp logos don't cost players a fortune in cash if and when they are released.   Corp logos should be standard issue, in my opinion.  You should just be able to click and have the corp logo appear on your ship.  Where is the fun in being able to achieve unified fleet look, if there's a cash barrier to this that not everyone may be able to afford?

Man after my own heart. Should have had corp-logoes from day 1 imho. Now that we got NPC corp logos and faction logos on ships, I don't imagine it would be to hard.

I'm glad to note my votes were well spent, so far. It's the first time I even bother, anyhow.

I remember reading recently that Aurum will be the currency used in Dust 514. Wether this is a way of finding a use for a broken game mechanic or part of the original plan is anyone's guess.

*EDIT* also, you have my vote.

In the same line of thought I really hate when companies come to develop not for the whole population but for the few that are able to pay more. Players =/= cattle.

But people do not care as long as it does not affect what they care about, which is sad since clothes and cosmetics are irrelevant for most players. You just have to see how people have come to hate Incarna in this game to get convinced. I guess its always hard to be part of minorities. Especially when you believe that PLEX are one of the worst thing that happened to that game ever (-> 'the hell is he talking about ?).

Oh well, I suppose my so called socialist mind has always been out of place anyway. vOv

Actually it is quite "hard" (depending how you define hard). NPC corp and faction logos are painted directly onto the standard textures of the ships. Painting an extra corp logo that can change dynamically and is proper to each player corp/alliance is a little harder, as you have to use several layers of additionnal textures as decalcs. It is not the end of the world, mind you, but considering how rigid and restrained the eve program seems to be...

I'm aware of that Lyn, however if they can render an NPC logo on ships, I can't imagine it will be to hard to something like this...

Update logo-creation engine to be easier to code, if needed, and generate the logo's in a format compatible with the ship's skin -> Render an area of a ship, likely where the faction emblems are now, to display the pre-rendered corporate logo -> enact logo-changes only during Down-time to cut back on any lag issues and quell server loads -> possibly allow Alliance emblems to over-rule corp ones if able. This one will likely require a severe change to the alliance-emblem creation rules and means, but it might be possible.

That last one is the least likely, tbh. For my part, corp-logos on ships would be hella-nice. Asking corps to fly only one faction's ships is hard because it denies allot of skill-point use and brings tactical limitations, but a unifying corp-logo will still help on that 'unified color' feel, regardless of the origin on the ships flown. Still, I consider it unlikely to happen any time soon and I don't expect or even think it might happen, but it would be nice to see, regardless.

For the moment however flying militia with T1 ships is already awesome.
