That Canadian politics discussion

I fail to see how it warranted getting locked. No one was being nasty, no one was arguing, a few people were joking around but it seemed like a perfectly civil discussion to me.

I suppose that's one way of looking at it. But some of the posts did start to get a little venomous, and so (without taking a stance on the political discussions in any way) it seemed that fairness demanded closing the discussion before it got even further out of hand.

Also, it should be noted that we are wary in general of RL political discussion. IIRC, there is mention of it in the sticky for the OOG section, in fact.
