So, had 2 mails in my inbox when I got home:
From Sami Okuda, Caldari Navy event actor:
Tonight at 20:00 in Yashunen, the Caldari State will be attempting to prevent the Sukuuvestaa Corporation from misallocating assets bookmarked for use in the war effort against the Gallente Federation. We expect some resistance from the Peace and Order Unit. We request that all loyal capsuleers travel to Yashunen at that time to assist in preventing Sukuuvestaa from inappropriately using assets.
And from Odo Hakaalen, SuVee event actor:
The Caldari Navy may have recently contacted you regarding the interdiction of Sukuuvestaa assets being rerouted "away from the war effort." Please be aware that these assets are the private property of Sukuuvestaa and are going toward the relief effort of Caldari Prime. The Chief Executive Panel, on behalf of Sukuuvestaa is asking that you assit SuVee in safeguarding these assets and transporting them to their final destination.
Anyone manage to make it to the event? Seems like they gave plenty of warning this time.

I'm sure others will have logs they can post, but the short story of it is this.
A fleet of 7 standard torpedo Ravens undocked from the SuVee station to secure the area. After some fluff text in local about docking collars and such, things went relatively quiet.
A fleet of six torpedo Navy Ravens then undocked, belonging to Templis Dragonaurs. Posturing and threats quickly followed between the two forces, both demanding the other stand down and calling each other traitors and such.
Eventually, someone opened fire. Both fleets were flagged suspect.
The Navy ravens went down very quickly, torn apart by the players attending the event. Due to the presence of logi on the field to help the SuVee Ravens, some of them survived the bored players wanting to take advantage of the suspect flags on the Ravens after the Templis were squashed.
There was one Templis CNR that kept docking and undocking over and over, but he eventually died too.
After that, there was a bit more posturing in local, with SuVee ineffectively telling players to stand down. They finally stayed docked until the timers wore off, and undocked in a fleet of four Rheas.
The Rheas flew directly to Luminaire, linking up with a FDU task force that was to escort them the rest of the way. After deploying dropships in orbit around CalPrime, they warped to a station, delivered some more supplies there and stripped down to a skeleton crew, and made their way back to State Space.
Both freighter trips were uneventful, with the Templis already gone.
CCP Falcon stated he did not expect the Templis to lose. I'm not sure how he figured that would work, since the shiny 1B ISK Navy Ravens had suspect flag. Obvious choice of who to shoot even for neutral fleets.
-
Nice. Glad that they are willing to let these smaller events go in unexpected direction. Also interesting that the 'Navy' force was openly Templis and the CEP/Heth conflict is becoming more prominent. I like it. :D

I posit that the CEP blocked any use of the Caldari Navy against SuVee. Technically the Navy answers only to the CEP, which Heth cannot overrule. So, because he could not deploy the Navy, he deployed his cronies in Templis. The use of Navy Ravens may suggest indirect participation by the Navy though. Sort of like Sami Okuuda saying 'we can't join, but take our ships'...
Just a thought

Ya, that just seems odd on so many levels.

Strange. With this fight he did not expect the Navy Raven guys to lose, but in the event in Cat regarding Black Eagles in Navy Megathrons he did expect them to lose. Difference being, this event had considerably more attendants and the fleet was not divided half-way with several people taking their leave.
But I mean, really? The Flagged Navy ships offering juicy kill-mails to whore on and they did not expect them to lose. It might have been more likely if the Templis had flown regular Ravens and the corporate fleet flew the Navy versions, that would have deflected most of the random fire onto the Navy Ravens and the RR could have saved the day. The few Templis guys with nearly no support (that I can envision) and the most expensive stuff was nearly guaranteed to bite the bullet.

Maybe he has people in the Navy. It would stand to reason that some of the Templis people would be placed in positions of authority throughout the State.
At any rate I really need to get on my new character. This stuff sounds fun.

I understand that the sufficient criterion for the (eight?) Templis Dragonaurs to win was to keep blocking the undock, which they technically could have done by playing undock games. Also, I think they did not undock, but warped from somewhere else, because I had ships with the [DRAGO] ticker on directional scan long before they appeared on the undock.
Of course, the use of Dragonaurs also meant that some people went from "uh, I don't quite know if I should attack the Caldari Navy" to "come on, why can't I open fire already!"
-
One of them DID keep playing undock games. We pewed him anyhow.

Thanks for the AAR. It's nice when you do not always have the time to read all logs.

More or less my thoughts exactly. I was thinking, "You can't be serious."

Falcon should not "expect"... he should have had a scenerio ready:
- where SuVee convoy was destroyed --> something happens(this didn't happen but did he had a scenerio in case it happend? )
- where SuVee gets safely to Caldari Prime (this happened, what now, he has a scenerio ready :P )
Beacause most of the time he has only one scenerio ready, like the SnipeHunt was wiped by FIO, but falcon "expect" us to save them and didnt had a scenerio ready what do do next when "FIO kills them with cold blood".
-
I know Grideris' fleet and I-RED both brought heavy ECM to the fight. CCP Falcon may have rigged the fittings in the two fleets to give the Navy Ravens a clear advantage. His intention may have been to kill the Ravens first with Templis, and call it a win even if the Templis die. All six CNRs were jammed as soon as they went suspect though, preventing any of them from launching a shot.
-
I wasn't there, but I think Katrina's on the right track. The Templis victory condition was probably little more than the destruction of the P&O escort and/or the Rheas (or just the prevention of their departure from Yashunen), with little regard for casualties on their own side.
So he was probably counting on the old maxim of "capsuleers will be capsuleers", and expected we would shoot everything with suspect flags.
-
The good guys won, with minor casualties. The bad guys perished to a man.
It's a pretty good day to be a gangsta. And if gangsta's can have good days, then why can't Caldari Loyalists? There is such a thing as being TOO grimdark.

I got a good chuckle out of this.

There is such a thing as being TOO grimdark.
I've been thinking about this for the last few days. They way the story is going, it seems as if it is heading back towards peace. The whole CP as a DMZ things seems as if it will resolve some elements of the Cal-Gal conflict, as that seemed to be the elephant in the room. Will CCP actually allow one of the storylines to resolve peacefully? Or will there be a bitter, Malkalen-style twist?

No one will cry if CCP ends FW between the Fed and State.

The PVP hungry masses in the FEDEF will.
Then they will join the Minmatar.
Then I guess we know who might be crying.
That aside, I seriously don't see FW between Fed and State ending anytime soon, but that brings up the question, what do the Caldari have left to fight for now?
EVE being the shitty place to live in that it is, I expect the previously mentioned grimdark hitting the fan and getting spread out everywhere to happen sooner or later.
-

I think it is possible to reframe the war, but the Heth storyline makes it a challenge.
The war could have been triggered by the revelation that there were Caldari colonies in Black Rise, an area of space the Federation attempted to explore during the War of Secession and may even have laid claim to. But that would change who the aggressor is in the conflict.
So, control of Black Rise for one and then wider access to the resources of Placid. But that makes it a classic, non-ideological war. It becomes a clear war about the bottom line and taxes.
-
You say that like it's a bad thing.
-
As a note, capsuleers were capsuleers. I was in Grideris's fleet, and I did get paid part of a bounty on one of the Peace and Order Unit Ravens. (Someone even broadcast a target call on one.) There were more of Templis Dragonaurs ships than Peace and Order Unit ships, but other than that, the only advantage they had was CNRs vs. T1 Ravens, the fits were the same (+1 launcher for CNRs, no comment on implants). Of course, players stacked the odds more or less to the POU side.
-
- where SuVee convoy was destroyed --> something happens(this didn't happen but did he had a scenerio in case it happend? )
Freighters were not attackable. We followed them all the way from Yashunen to Luminaire with hope to drop them
I think they would simply not undock if SuVee's were destroyed first, and that's what Falcon planned, but suddenly *Grideris*
And I think that it should be made the way, that while alive peoples (not only Templis Ships, but capsuleers also) were sitting on undock, freighters couldn't depart, than this would have more sense. (Since actors were broadcasting for capsuleers to clear undocking thing, and we were like no no we won't go, but they still undocked their freighters regardless)

IMHO the idea behind all these is to make more conflicts, not less. I don't think that in the end CCP plans to shut down FW in one or both areas. It more looks like that they want more ships to go boom, we want more fun getting others ships go boom. So, it is all about boom.
If not boom today, then boom tomorrow.
There's always boom.

FW is a game mechanic. It is never ending.

I voted that they bumped the CNR off dock range but...meh...

I admit it. I broke everything. :(
Also, I kept shouting at everyone to not shoot the POU guys. Looks like some didn't listen >.>

As mentioned, I was in your fleet. Someone even broadcast one of the SuVee Ravens, I promptly jammed it before noticing who it was. At least I did not shoot Scherezad, ok?

To be honest, I'm pretty sure it was the E-Uni guys. I think I need to keep them on a shorter chain next time. Never underestimate the new pilots, for they are jumpy and shoot at anything flashy.

That was mostly EVE-University.
