Seems CCP didn't reply to the trademark office quite as fast as they should have. Perhaps they thought they'd have 18 months to reply?

Possibly, although it still seems odd to simply stop responding to the office rather than send them a notice along the lines of "Hey, we're done with this logo, got a new one."
