Also, relevant to the topic:

Don't just assume what other people are into.  Ask, talk about it.  Fetishes and things that vary from normal vanilla man and woman sex may be normal where you are from but they aren't where everyone is from.  This is rl just like walking into some random house and cursing and spouting memes and holy shit it's someone's grandmother who never even saw an ankle or heard harsh language.  Or maybe she has a fucking sex dungeon, dunno. 

Some people are from the Empire, some from the federation.  So don't assume.  Communicate.  If they are an asshole about it then why did you want to hang out with them in the first place.
