The Valkyrie comes...

And her name is Svipul.

The Dessie is cool and all, but the Projectiles changes are far more interesting to me. Still a bit too little from my viewpoint going up against drone and kite meta but any good news is fantastic news at this point.

What did they tweak with energy weapons in Rhea?

The modes of this one remind of the transformation modes of the Valkyries from Macross. This is a good thing, in my opinion.

The thing I am most impressed by is that the modellers found turret positions that both look good and retain wide firing arcs regardless of configuration.

What did they tweak with energy weapons in Rhea?

Slightly boosted some basic stats and slightly nerfed Scorch to compensate.

EDIT: The name is apparently pronounced "SWEE-pull" and means 'changeable'.

I like the implications of Gallentians being punched in the face by walking up to a Minmatar as they so freely use another person's culture as a fad.

It's also the name of a valkyrie. The word has also been used as a synonym for battle and indeed represents the changeable nature of fate.  It may possibly be the best named Minmatar ship in Eve, and as they're the best named ships in Eve to start with, that's saying something.

Ship needs to combine with one drone and two other frigates to become a mecha.

I'm not really sure about this projectile change. On one hand we can do more dps in a Stabber for up to 20km away (anemic anemic damage, but damage nonetheless), but on the other hand the changes to Barrage means that absolutely nothing changes when using barrage.

Makes me wonder if it's alright to use Depleted Uranium now. Especially against something with shields.

The lack of a tracking bonus unless in sniper mode makes me nervous about using this ship to brawl.

That's pretty much my gripe too. We're less dependent on Barrage to project any AC damage, but said projection will remain worthless against the current meta.

Dat artillery doe.

That arty is interesting. It is a fantastic change for arty thrashers and this new ship. But it actually seems like a bit of a nerf to scramkite arty fits.

It is a nerf, in my opinion. Arties never did have any issues dealing out alpha damage. The tracking, however, is pretty terrible. Maybe the devs thought dual-web arty firetails are bullshit.

I wouldn't call it a nerf. What we lose in tracking etc we regain in ACs being a bit less shit with ammo other than Barrage. Possibly. Eh, I'm not going to say either or until it's released and we've seen the results, but I don't mind losing a little artillery versatility for better artillery dps. Arties are necessary these days if you want to fight the current metas and the damage boost should balance things a little.

I would trade that damage boost for more range on them though.

While that'd be cool, I'm told they were planning for them all to be turret based?
