History:
Early Life
Karynn Denton was born in the Great Wildlands, the daughter of Sartaq Denton, commander of the Thukker dreadnaught Wakangaro, and Elyaa Vod, owner of a Cartel pleasure-hub.
She received a high standard of education, studying with several circles throughout her childhood and teens. She excelled at martial studies, social interaction and basic astrometrics, maturing into a balanced and confident young woman.
As she approached her mid-teens, the caravan's Khargai, Vaze Talakha, introduced her to the clan’s own brand of shamanism and ancestor-worship. During this period of spiritual discovery, Karynn began to experiment with boosters to aid her vision-journeys.
Karynn’s Voluval revealed the Starwheel at the nape of her neck; Khargai Talakha declared it to be a highly auspicious mark, the Starwheel being the principal tool used in astral divination. The Khargai was quick to establish herself as Karynn’s mentor and confidant, and remains so to this day.
Adulthood
Eager to prove her martial prowess, Karynn joined her caravan’s Outriders. She proved to be very successful, completing hundreds of sorties and patrols. Her good looks, skill and charisma gained her many admirers, which she fully exploited. Her promiscuity left her pregnant at the age of nineteen and she gave birth to a daughter in YC101.
Karynn returned to active service as soon as she could, leaving her daughter to be raised in the caravan’s crèche and playing little to no part in her upbringing. Their relationship is said to be strained.
Call of the Wildlands
In the years leading up to YC110, Thukker military caravans and commanders were summoned to secret locations deep within the Great Wildlands to prepare for what would become known as the Elder War. Sartaq’s command, the Wakangaro, was assigned to the fleet that would attack the CONCORD headquarters at Yulai. Sartaq had originally insisted that his daughter join him on the bridge for the assault, but Khargai Talakha instead suggested a longer-term investment for her protégé; Karynn would be sent to the Republic to undergo capsuleer training, as had the clan’s Chieftain, Zenitoka, a few years previously.
Pod Pilot
Karynn qualified as a pod-pilot in YC113 and within a few months registered her own capsuleer corporation, KD Astrometrics, specialising in exploration of low-sec Republic space in order to adjust herself with her new, remarkably different life.
Over time, Karynn’s scanning probes focused less on cosmic signatures and more on the combat ships of security contractors and the fields of wreckage and valuable loot left in their wake. Chieftain Zenitoka, already an experienced capsuleer, caught up with his fellow clanswoman and formed the quasi-legal Molden Heath Salvage Yard. The pair pursued aggressive reclamation and salvage techniques in the Heath region, becoming more audacious with each raid.
During one such salvaging sortie, the pair came across wreckage containing combat-boosters and searched the market for a buyer; noticing the potentials in regional supply and demand, they began to trade them more regularly, then later to produce their own.
In YC115, Chieftain Zenitoka was recalled to the Katanga Caravan by Khargai Talakha to take the helm as Master. Joining him, Karynn was appointed Lead Outrider and Diplomat. Within a few months the obscure minor caravan had become a multi-billion ISK enterprise, supplying boosters to the militiamen and pirate gangs in the contested areas of low-sec Metropolis.
Caravan Master
Chieftain Zenitoka’s tenure as Caravan Master was short-lived; introverted and longing to return to a solitary nomadic lifestyle, he spiralled into a deep depression, causing a period of stagnation in the small caravan's fortunes. However, Karynn had excelled in her diplomatic role and had grown ever more popular amongst the clan. In YC116, Zenitoka declared his resignation, whilst still retaining his ceremonial role as Chieftain.
Khargai Talakha immediately appointed her protégé, now fully groomed for leadership, as Master of the Caravan.
Recent Events
Karynn has entered Katanga Caravan into a loose partnership with a Cartel-aligned capsuleer bloc.
She considers the Republic to be the biggest threat to Thukker independence and maintains a hostile stance to its government and its supporters.
Karynn is a critic of Thukker Tribe Chief Einnar Aeboul, who she believes sold out the Thukker by nominally joining the Republic in YC111.
She has begun to diversify Katanga's activities beyond illegal booster production, into other criminal ventures including theft, aggressive salvaging, human trafficking and piracy. Some of these activities have had a lasting impact on her morality, or deepening lack of.
Karynn returned with her caravan to the Great Wildlands, resuming their nomidic lifestyle and retiring from capsuleer life.
