I honestly don't know where this notion comes from. As it stays it seems to be the State/Heth who wants to get in bed with the Minnies, not the Amarr who think that it's a good time to topple the Alliance.

But then, CCP seems to be determined to get the alliances destroyed and have a liking for letting certain Amarrians act as if they were brain-amputed (and some are supposedly, by TonyG) idiots.

So, everything can happen.

Svetlana doesn't entirely trust the Amarr, but she does respect them and find them reliable. The Minmatar...she does not.

I'm curious how the Amarr loyalists will handle such a change. I already have a good idea how the Caldari loyalists will.

I believe the reaction of some, including myself, would generally be a giant party.

Don't know that it's arbitrary. I've been IC'ly muttering dark warnings about the Caldari not giving the Amarr enough credit as a threat for years. I admit I'll take it as a massive IC vindication if it happens.  :D

And my character has been doing more than that, to the point of actually attacking the person of the Empress on the IGS. I'd love to see this happen.

So, the Empress/Merimeth decide to invade the State because Vikarion attacked her verbally on the IGS? That sounds quite un-arbitrary!

And anyone who thinks the Caldari would ally with the Minmatar...no. I don't see that happening. There's no strategic value there for the Caldari

The Federation would be surrounded by hostile entities, and the State would only have a one-front war.

Sure, because the Empire would just sit and watch while the Caldari ally with the Matari...

That would be epic! I fully endorse this idea!

No, I was adding support to the thesis that many Caldari had been warning the State about the Amarr. But your idea works too...

It would be somewhat amusing if the relationship of empires becomes Caldari + Minmatar vs Gallente + Amarr. Something in my brain is telling me that this possible path may also be because of current FW dynamics where Caldari and Amarr are getting constantly spanked by their the militias of their respective traditional enemies', and switching it up would "freshen up" FW and make things more interesting.

But of course, that's just wild and unsubstantiated speculation on my part.

The 2v2 Mechanic needs to be removed.

1v1v1v1

or 1v1v2

Gallente / Amarr alliance would be a non-starter IC wise for... -everyone-.

And any Amarr pilot who would fight alongside the Federation.... that's some hari kari type of personal dishonor right there.

Same for our Federation friends.

Would be most interesting, I think.

As the whole Republic/Federation hatefest continues to play out (lovingly stoked by yours truly, among others), an attempt at reclaiming the Caldari sounds more and more likely. CCP wouldn't let one empire suffer exclusively at the receiving end of a 3:1 war, so it just makes sense from a balance point of view. It would also solve the messy problem of trying to explain a 2:2 switch (from Empire/State vs Federation/Republic to Empire/Federation vs State/Republic):

  • Republic/Federation tension continues to grow, more attacks by both sides lead to general open warfare along the borders
  • State prepares to capitalize on this with an attack on the Federation, leaving them open for...
  • The Empire to roll in on the State's soft white underbelly in an attempt to reclaim what is still the smallest major nation in Eve
  • ...
  • Profit!

You'd end up with all four nations in anything from limited to total warfare, with the pirate factions striking targets of opportunity as they see fit. A perfect prelude to Empyreans taking sovereignty in what used to be CONCORD empire systems.

I for one would love to see more Amarr/Gallente things... Everyone seem to assume that State+Republic are so obvious and that Gallente/Amarr are so polar opposites, but I don't agree.

I concur. ... However, the differences would be an interesting maze to try and navigate.
