I really approve of this.  Graphical love is always welcome.

I love it. I wish the UI had more of this graphical nonsense, really, because I have always had a hardon for those needlessly complex and blinky and noisily animated movie OS computer systems.

EDIT: I'm actually not being sarcastic xD

same really. I'd love if the interface was more blingy and actually seemed like I was using a futuristic multitool software designed for the mega-rich. I want to feel like I'm flying a spaceship as opposed to a top of the line Windows 95 computer. I think something really cool I'd like to see too, is if camera drones were somehow represented in the visuals. Like if you went too close to an explosion or ECM source or something your screen went slightly staticy.

on topic, I love stuff like this. Its always awesome to have visual things like this. I'm guessing certificates will probably get merged in with this somehow.

Eh, probably a feature I'd never use but looks good I suppose.

:) - you don't want to work it all via command line?

No matter how much you may dislike change, CCP has really good GUI designers working for them now.

Well that's nice and all.
Lets see wheter or not they manage to unfuck Corp roles and POS within the next decade.

I really like some of the spiffy new things, like the autopilot area in the upper left hand 'blinking into existence'. It's fancy, sometimes a bit troublesome, but cool. If they could put in some of the EVE Videos' UI spiffyness it'd be happy days >_>

Interface design is about human-computer interaction, though. Not spiffy-ness. ;)

You mean remove POS from the game?  Unlikely.

As for the skill UI, I hate to be the nay-sayer, but it reminds me a lot of "spec trees" in [insert generic fantasy MMORPG here].  Maybe not a bad thing for getting newer users into the game and helping them wrap their heads around the skills, but much like the new inventory system my bittervet will likely kick in and I'll find myself raging about it for a year or two after it's released (yes, I still hate the new inventory system and constantly find myself dropping shit into the wrong tab or attempting to drop an item into my ship hangar or something).  Maybe I'm getting stodgy in my 30s.

Fuck me sideways, it must be years since the last time I agreed with Bacc on anything. But damn the new inventory is godawful, isn't it.

And I raise your :bittervet: with the as soon as I saw skilltree I already started waiting for the respec button for the kids. I am an awful person, I know.

With UI design it's more difficult to get people to switch from old ways than to teach them how to use it from the very beginning. Take the row over the Start button in Windows 95 for example.

CCP have always been nuts when it comes to ergonomics.

Look at their more recent work too, in planetary interaction. It's almost like their policy is "put the bar high enough just in case we start to lose our elitist niche, you don't want people to have an easy and user friendly time with our UI".

I hope they do something good with that, but I am not very optimistic.
