Is there clear PF somewhere on what exactly the selection process for a new Emperor is supposed to be like?

The chronicle "Succession Trials" gives a basic overview, but I don't think anyone has layed down in exact detail all of the trials.

I like the implications of Gallentians being punched in the face by walking up to a Minmatar as they so freely use another person's culture as a fad.

There's also a load of stuff in the news archive about the selection of Doriam in 2003, which involved players.  This was itself a bit of a break from tradition.

A good place to start is http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Amarr_Championship

Three words:

Amarrian Civil War.

Discuss.

CCP don't have the balls to do it properly.   The most we'll get is a coup (with some fighting during a DT).

In my view, it's less a question of "balls" and more a question of the resources and planning required to do this properly. That sort of transition for the game would present a rather significant design challenge and not just some news stories.

Added another peice. This one seems to suggest that Kador is supportive of what Aridshapur is doing - whatever that ultimately is.

Updated 5/13. Things are so far heading in a predictable but interesting direction.
