I am quite happy with my selection of names. Especially 'Myyona' as I imagine was born in the Myyhera solar system and somehow named after it. This idea was enforced when I discovered that the systems of Arzad, Ezzara and Yuzier share names with Amarrian holders. (Source)

If they were named after the solar systems or the other way around is unclear, but it means that solar system names are very important within the Empire. A tradition Minmatar slaves who had been there for generations likely would pick up.

I probably would not change a thing. Perhaps add a last name on one or 2 charachters but otherwise, no.

Most of my characheter names are taken from old PnP rpg chars of mine. And some, like Kaldor and Alikan i use frequently in other games, both mmo's and singleplayer games, as well as forum names.

Valadeus sounds Amarr-ish enough for me. Raze sure doesn't.

I fixed that by making his real name Lazarus. >.>

Names are unimportant it's what you do with them that matters.

Take "PIE" for example, a corp that like or hate are synonymous with Amarr RP today.  The ticker is silly, the name itself was picked by a few guys who thought it just sounded funny (it wasn't until later any meaning was attached to the name) and who liked the musings of weeble and bob.  But now, you ask most people in new eden about PIE and they will be able to tell you who they are and what they do.

Character names are the same with names like Rodj Blake (from blakes 7, no matter how many times he denies it) or Grr (feeling angry when the name I wanted wasn't available) being some of the most well known Amarrians around.

No, I'm happy with mine.

Bataav is an adaptation of a username I've used on a number of websites over the years. I took my original inspiration from the Germanic tribe the Batavi (also applies for Teutonii named after the Teutons) who gave the Romans a bloody nose for a while.

Even though I wasn't even aware of the Intaki secessionist movement when I first signed up for EVE I think there's a nice parallel between the Batavi's struggle against Roman domination and Intaki independence from the Federation.

Ditto for the English un-Caldari name.  Should have used something with a Nordic/Japanese feel, or something obviously callsign-ish.  Oddly, I have met many Caldari rp'ers with English names, so I chalk it up to a blend of translation and different languages within the State (assuming kids aren't all named in Napanii)

The beauty of the retcon is that afaik you can legitimately turn any Western name into its Japanese phonetical equivalent via Romanization to create its Napanii/Caldari equivalent.  Below, double vowels are not pronounced differently than a single vowel, they are just given double length (a = 'ah', aa 'ahh').  IIRC, Japanese pronunciation for the most part gives equal timing to each syllable and does not follow the same pattern of emphasis as English.

e.g. Blake = Bureeiku
e.g. Baxter = Baakusta
e.g. Revenent = Reebunantu

Nope.

At the time I was just throwing a random collection of syllables together that sounded pseudo-minmatar and didn't come up on Google.

Zagamesh also shortens quite nicely into Zag in social settings and voice comms.

Although there is his true name as Mjalnar Thierre Gessenier, I much prefer Zag as it's far more simple and less pretentious.

I think I wrote something about a Zagamesh being some kind of Thukker spirit/ghost of vengeance and trickery that steals children in the night and ruins people's lives because they're like that at the time to explain it. Something like that anyway. Like most things involving Zag I just say, "Was drunk" and move on.

I would certainly change the name of my original toon, but the handles I usually use are all stuck in trial accounts I made years ago but never stuck with the game. So I based it on a book I had recently read on helicopter pilots in Vietnam and didn't worry about it.

Vicky I'm happy with, she was named after the character she's semi-based on, a lovable psychopath named Victor Stecker-Epps. He is and will always be one of my favorite characters in any TV show, regrettably short lived.

Protagonist: "Maybe because you've tried to kill me four times?"
Victor: "Four? That seems a little high. Oh! You're counting that time with the chair!"

As for the older toons, they belonged to a friend of mine and were handed to me when he found out I was playing EVE. I didn't pick the names, but I've made them work.

I'm perfectly happy with the name I picked.

Even if I did wind up mixing up two different strands of Minmatar heritage doing it. It gave me a start on my backstory so no regrets about that.

I didn't have a choice of DeadRow but I'm happy with it, would be tempted to give her her actual name.. but I like it. Wouldn't change Nicole's.

I wished I'd picked a classier name, like Porsche, Mercedes, or Alexis.

Might have made one of the two names more "Finnish-sounding." v0v

Am I crazy thinking that people who don't have "Kyoko Sakoda" or "Kaleigh Doyle" type names are simply going by their callsigns?  It's kinda how I justify the name to myself.  To use a silly analogy, I don't remember what the actual names of Viper, Maverick, Iceman, Jester and Goose were in Top Gun, and they seemed call each other that even outside of the cockpit.

Anyway, yeah.  Happy with Bacchanalian.

Yeah, I explicitly say that Ulphus is a callsign, and I expect that a lot of people use callsigns.

Car names are classy names? I always found them to be a bit tasteless. Alexis is a good one though! :D
