Dealing with unexpected Events
« on: 27 May 2011, 09:15 »

So situation yesterday:

Got into an RP fight with a corp member who was attempting to 'go nation' Nikita podded her, someone stole the corpse before Nikita could get to it. I did a stupid, and thought a non-rper had stolen it, which was dumb, because I should have just rolled with that anyway.

But I didn't and I had my pilot pod herself again so I could have a corpse to autopsy. I figured that would be the end of it...except that Valerie Valate had the other corpse, and called me out on performing the autopsy. Now I have a corpse, and I did RP out doing the autopsy and finding all the nation implants and such. So how do I reconcile what I did ICly (yes in error, I should have just rolled with it when the corpse was stolen, that's totally on me) with what Valerie did IC? I would suggest just shaking hands with her OOC, and saying 'well played' and letting the situation fade away, but Valerie's made it clear she doesn't intend to actually let me do that, which leads to me not really knowing what to do with things IC.

I could say I'm right and she just misidentified the body, but she can just as easily do the same to me, and since I can't exactly settle it OOC...where does that leave me?

And I thought being a space-anarchist was complicated :)

... considering she's not the one who went to great trouble having someone pod themselves just so you could scoop the corpse, I'd eliminate that line of the run. She's not doing it wrong, that's for sure.

What does a pirate do when someone says they're lying?   :yar:

No, she's not doing it wrong, I was totally in the wrong doing that, but the situation still happened, and I still RPed out doing the autopsy and telling people the autopsy results in the summit, I can't just retcon that, and I doubt most of the other RPers involved would agree to that.

*facepalms*

Medical clones.  Pilots have them.

If the pilot in question's medical clone was located in a station where there's a Risen Angels office...

...with me so far?

Yes, but it was specifically that body since that's the one full of nation implants.

And yes, I fucked up, I admit it, its word against word now. So how do I fix it?

why not just say that you podded her twice, the second body having already been implanted while still in the clone vat. It takes a little hand-waving, but it lets Val have her corpse while you still have your autopsy.

In the future, don't pod your friends with blooders on grid if you want the corpse. And if she called you on it, I'm guessing you were talking about it in public - something I'd playfully encourage you to stop doing with such sensitive information

EDIT: I wrote that an hour ago, hit post, hit alt-tab, never saw that it hadn't posted because someone else replied. Statement now irrelevant.

1) Find other evidence (transmission logs, etc) that reinforces your assertion that the pilot in question was a Sansha supporter.

2) In the absence of other evidence, start questioning the IC reasons and circumstances surrounding why and how Valerie Valate stole the clone in the first place, especially if she's denying that the corpse she has had Sansha implants.

[I don't know, because this is the first I've heard of all this.  More to the point, I don't really want to know.   I'm just answering this question based on the limited information I have, and please do not encourage me to give this any more thought.]

If I were in your shoes, I think that Question #1  would be "How'd she wind up being in the right time and right system for this character assassination to happen?"   (Note: if you announced all this in the Summit prior to doing it, I think it's safe to say this mess is your own damn fault.)  Question #2:  "Why did she bother?  Does she have an agenda for concealing someone's being a Sansha, or is she really a clone blood drinking freak like she denies?"

Good luck!

She's obviously up to something.

Though I think you should only start worrying when one of my alts also starts lurking in your public channel.  Not that any of the ones you know about would ... so hi!  Having a good Memorial Day weekend so far?
