We don't have a choice it seems. People don't seem to remember the damages of the past and history will repeat itself. I can't even begin to express how painful this is for the Canadians, such as myself, that truly care about our country. It's been gutted on all levels since the late 80's and there will be nothing left soon enough.

Well I love that the NDP are where they are, but, with a majority for Harper means he pretty much has 4 years to do whatever the fuck he wants. Heres a very short summary of Conservative rule in Canada when it happened.

Conservatives history as the majority.

John Diefenbaker = scraps our air force budget and paves the way for US air force dominance and wasted our money on obselete missiles (bomarc) bought from the US.

Brian Mulroney = sold 23 of our 66 crown owned corporations(corps owned by the canadian gov.), sold to the US mainly., Allows American Express to form the AMEX Bank of Canada, he then makes GST[gross sales tax] (cover the cost of lost money from selling our corps and privatizing our corperate industry), then Free Trade which equates to Canada loosing more money from the tariffs of our borders to the US and Mexico. A decline in our health care shortly after because of cut backs and reducing cost.

Stephen Harper = Soon to be privatized health care and who knows what else

It's always like this. Two years ago, my neighbors were convinced that the US was about to go totally tits-up and sold off to Muslim socialist fascists (I can't even parse that either).

Four years before THAT, my dad was convinced we were all headed for megacorp work camps (especially funny because his corp already had a quarter million employees).

I hope you're right Cassie. Cause I'm really worried about there just not being enough jobs, and the government won't be able to support everyone who needs help and poverty and homelessness will just shoot through the roof to the point where the middle class ceases to exist.
