[Planet] Kihtaled II
« on: 03 Jul 2010, 08:33 »

As inspired by Saxon Hawke's Frarie VII thread, I summoned the courage to create something for Math'ra's home planet of Kihtaled II - and here it is!

-------------------------------------------------------------
Kihtaled II

Colony Common Name: Kihtaled II
Colony Capital Name: Redinum
Government Type: Amarrian Holder System (Currently major holder is the Torash family)
Population: 17 million
Principal exports: Precious & Reactive Metals, Biofuels, Mechanical Parts and Carbon Compounds

History: The Kihtaled system borders on the Khanid system itself, and while most of the system enjoys the prosperity of this close connection to the crown, particularly the fourth planet, a temperate world which many of the Khanid race made their home during the creation of the Kingdom, many other worlds where initially overlooked.

This influx of people created a massive requirement for minerals and resources, thus the nearby planets were eventually surveyed and initial colonies where established over highly concentrated mineral deposits, many of the wealthier holder families invested large amounts of money and resources into these planets in the hope of striking it rich.

The nearby planet of Kihtaled II was one of the planets the was gifted with life at the beginning of this influx, the major holder and royal Torash family took control of the major industrial efforts of the planet and currently lays claim to approximately 65% of the land, with the other 35% belonging to other minor nobles and holders.

The crest of Torash holders is a silver fire spurting dragon, usually displayed on a black shield, with the motto’s “Ghift Dhe Agus an Righ” and “E Labore Dulcedo” which loosely translate as “By the Grace of God and the King” and “Pleasure arises from work”

The working families and people who live on Kihtaled II rarely leave its surface, most children are brought into the services of the sovereign holders to direct and control the industrial efforts of the planet.

Because of the large amount of industry on the planet, the requirement for slaves to conduct the largest portion of manual labour and dangerous tasks that are required for large scale industrial efforts.

The holders of the planet only hold minor positions in the court but are awarded the usual benefits, such as the potential ear of the King himself, and the ability to recruit the efforts of the elite forces such as the Mashtori and other Khanid Naval assets.

Life on the planet is harsh, the desert terrains spread over large portions of the planet, with the deep crevasses formed, that along with the thin atmosphere means that only the hardiest of peoples survive long enough in the unprotected terrain outside of the major settlements.

This is why a decent sized military base is maintained on the more remote parts of Kihtaled II, it serves largely as a training ground for some of the Kingdoms elite combat soldiers, along with a minor recruiting facility for those that seek a way off the planet, in recent years the Capsuleer craze has seen many young people leave the planet via the Khanid Navy in search of fortune among the stars.

Partially due to the inbred hardiness of the local people, and the genetics of the Khanid, a decent number of people from Khanid II have qualified for Capsuleer training, although compared to the overall number of recruits from the Kingdom at large, it is still sizeable enough for Navy recruitment officers to do half yearly pre-scanning run through the major colonies.

Wow, awesome stuff Mathra!  Waiting to put in more definite time frames for the colonial history until you get an answer on the Khanid timeline?  If the planet has been settled for several hundred years or more already, is it possible the locals (predating King Khanid's secession) have already evolved a bit to suit the harsh environment?

Overall, this is a good trend, I think.  Dropbear, are you watching?

Pretty much spot on Ken :)
with the evolution thing - thats what I was hinting towards, having to live in such a harsh environment generation after generation breeds tough people for tough work :D

Glad you like it though mate - I am more than likely doing to be doing a few more similar to this for various other things (like my corp! and the Mashtori at large)
