So. This seems like something we mustmustMUST do after Rubicon is released, with the warp changes, Ascendency set, and new interceptors.

The question: how would you set this up? Simple time trial with an end point, post in local on arrival? Courier missions? Time trial with 'challenge' tests at various points, such as scanning down a deep safe structure of some sort?

Personally, my current thought is this:
First race: race with two waypoints off in the hinterlands; local post used to verify hitting of waypoints.
Second race: race with challenge; a deep space object to scan down and fetch an object from, likely a depot or anchored can. Set up a contract upon return to final waypoint location; contract is used for time checks.
Third race: Orienteering with a waypoint in the K-space end of a wormhole, a waypoint in W-space several holes in, and then back. Local posts at waypoints to verify arrival.

Prizes and points for each race, with a cup and large prize for the pilot with the most points over the series.

 :bear:

Thoughts?

The last warp race (NERA) went down in flames due to OOC drama... I tried to organize a similar one after, but I think it was too early to do so because only 2 people were interested. Though I managed to reorganize the different classes of ships into something coherent based on their potential agility/warp speed stats (interceptors, light frigates, heavy frigates).

In any case it was set up in high-sec with low-sec waypoints (audit log canisters) to validate, with a finish in station. It was really fun and appreciated. I had much fun taking part in the few races I did too. Unfortunately it's also a can of worms for exploits.

When I think I still have my lowgrade snake set clone worth hundred of millions...

If you can manage to get hold of Quintrala, Nethys Axion or Killjoy, they might all have valuable input and ideas.

**** man.
I miss the days when there were not one but two racing leagues. Ché was not a fan of the NERA and its predecessors, but he wished he was sometimes.

Right-o. I'll get in touch with them.

I'm figuring this won't be a long term league-- though if there's interest, I could easily see racing events every now and then. Current idea is to do one race series as a promotional event, and see how it goes.

The third idea involving wspace sounds very fun, since it would also involve speedy scanning. Of course the route couldn't be set up a day in advance since wspace-to-wspace holes only last 16 hours plus deviance, never mind if someone trolls the race by massing any hole along the route out. I'd still totally participate though  :D

It's definitely a, "Scan down a hole immediately before the race, and follow the rabbit hole..." thing. Honestly, it's my favorite race of the lot, not least of which because suddenly it's not all interceptors running in circles.

Alright! Sounds like there's interest. Will be evemailing, and expect something shiny in a few weeks.

Have to admit that exploration oriented races, or mining oriented races, are not my cup of tea...

Kayleigh Jamieson is also back in game, and might be able to give ideas and input.

So basically played to race.
