To be quite honest, I understand that in early EVE, "lasers on everything" was a thing. This was probably better than my original fitting style as a newbie, "fit the largest gun you can cram in and then see what else still fits". With large energy turret cap use reduced and Amarr ships losing large energy turret capacitor use bonus (except Navy Armageddon), it is technically as viable to fit lasers on another race's ships as it is, say, to a future normal Armageddon.
