Heh.  You're not wrong, at times.

It usually progresses from that level, though.

What the hell else is there to talk about?

"How about that political situation that will never change?"
"Still there."
"Grr."
"Making ISK?"
"Yup."
"Me too."
"Are we ever going to fight each other?"
"Sure, my 3 pilots and your 4 pilots can burn down the Galaxy."
"lol"

I find the best conversations come out of things that we can change, like relationships, fights we had, people's opinions on things, etc.  These things are fluid and can evolve over time, focus on them rather that static things that CCP won't touch for years at a time.

I've found Domestic RP rarely requires spaceships to run it's course.

Luna's current "domestic" issue might *innocent look*

I've always found the solution in asking myself:

Given an unlimited amount of wealth and access to people and resources, what groovy and wild things would I be able to do with it in the setting given my character?

I mean seriously, if the answer to that question is the utterly mundane then it's not the fault of the lore for any lack of imagination.

Sure there's a time and a place to discuss the world news, but isn't the whole point of RP a bit of improv and creativity?

There's so much emphasis on, "Hey unless what we do shakes the very foundations of New Eden asunder in the most relevant way possible then we better not talk about anything!" What happened to just the individual stories of the characters themselves, the things they get up to, and banter?

There's also the art of asking questions - any and all sorts of questions. Most of the time I try to ask topical questions in RP it's almost always some one word answer, so it's like... how am I supposed to segue a conversation out of that?

Have you come up with anything?

For Veik? Sure.

Built the Final Haven, a modified Rook she uses as her private pleasure yacht and personal abode that rides the eye of a storm within an ice giant.

Body modded Achuran women into mermaids to swim in an aquarium to satisfy aesthetic pleasures.

Participates in a racing league known as Corona, which uses small bespoke corvettes and the aerodynamics of surface plasma induction to run tracks demarcated within the atmospheres of gas giants with mobile aerostats.

Funds a private "Ultimate Warrior" competition in the State which involves the use of special suits and ammunition to partake in platoon based tactics in all kinds of martial scenarios within different environments and terrain which draws participants from all over the cluster  for the glory of being crowned that years Ultimate Warriors.

Produces a few Achuran-pop girl bands because it amuses her.

Funds a few game development programs:

Protocol Five: A 5v5 moba based game with all the heroes based on capsuleers and their passives + special abilities + ultimates contextualized around how baseliners see different capsuleers (roleplayers).

Holy Blades of Athra: A Galnet MMO set in a fictional/fantasy environment loosely based in the early era of Amarrian Reclaiming of the Udorian city states.

ADAM Online: A Galnet spaceship game that's pretty niche and allows meta-referencing of Eve Online within the RP of Eve Online.

Participates in the occasional Live Action Holographic Roleplaying (LAHRP) according to different rulesets and settings and also allows the ability to use pen and paper systems to yo dawg, roleplay a character, while your character is also roleplaying a character (rolls a bunch of platonic solids in-game).

Exo-atmospheric base jumping from the top of space elevators with low orbit platforms.

That's just a few of the things I've made up. vOv

Well, my character is *doing* something that he doesn't advertise on public channels.

However, he is planning to go ask a two other RPers for some assistance. At least for the time being. Personally. Through Evemails.

I am also logging in to do these things in-character, so when some other RPer stumbles upon me by chance and asked me about what it was I am doing, I am able to RP that back.

There's a multitude of reasons for public RP to go like in the OP, the overarching one being the fact that it is public.

My character has a lot of plastic bags already. Entire warehouses full of them.

However, I wasn't making a complaint as much as pointing out something I saw as amusing. As far as I can tell, myself included, the majority of rpers do what they do in their own private in groups so public discourse is now irrelevant as a point of interaction.

Hey it's fine if you have inroads into people and rp networks of people to do it with over the years -- mostly when there was a lot of public interaction to make it possible -- but good luck if you're new these days.

Some of us try to push the envelope and get forum bans and warnings from GMs in game about it ^^

"Hi. You said something mean. Please don't say mean things.

kthxbye"
