Title: RP noob looking to explore another aspect of EVE
Post by: Umar Ahmad on 08 Oct 2016, 08:52
Hi

total RP noob here. I read a lot of stuff already but still so many open questions :)
I already posted my character sheet a few days ago.

If anybody feels I am doing stuff badly or - my biggest fear - I'm just too boring, please feel free to comment.

For me the most fascinating RP topic is to explore how living as a (semi)-immortal would clash with human values and traditions. How does my view on "baseliners" change?
How does a family/society with social norms that are not really compatible react to someone who made that transformation.
Thus I chose to play an Amarrian loyalist from a family that is big on military traditions and honor.
How do they react to someone who has just lost a battleship crew in a routine engagement? How do I cope with that and how do I explain it to my parents and siblings?

Also, kudos to you all: despite all the trolling etc, the RP community creates a lot of interesting thoughts and materials. Still working through them :)

Welcome backstage.

The answer is pretty simple. After a while people become numbers, numbers become statistics, statistics goes into the trash bin if it displeases you.  :P

Welcome!

The dichotomy between baseliners and capsuleers is so full of potential, especially because it can be hard for someone who hasn't lived in EvE for a while to really fully conceptualize how life is so different for a capsuleer. Are your character's relatives back-water enough that their military service is over and done? Could you use that to have an interplay between Umar and his mother/father who used to work in the royal navy? As he tries to find comfort from parents who are struggling to understand the sheer conceptual weight of lives that Umar is now supporting?

Welcome backstage.

My character has killed, but is currently pretty pacifistic, and sometimes uses his abilities to save lives now.
But when he did kill, he coped by having "reasons" and not thinking about it to much.
