Title: Rebirth
Post by: Thal Vadam on 20 Nov 2015, 13:16
(( Just a little experiment in writing, it might actually suck. Please enjoy and give me some pointers  ))

"And they stood before Him,
bathed in His light.
Yet their eyes were blind,
Their hearts rebellious,
And their minds refused the Lord.
Darkness descended upon them,
Spreading inside their minds,
And the flames of the Lord died within them.
Yet one flame remained,
And within this flame, the Lord found faith renewed.
Casting the others into obscurity,
The Lord turned to the one"
- The Scriptures, Gheinok the First 1:3

An older Amarrian man sits in the front of the pews of the Chapel of the Righteous Blade on Amarr Prime. The man was dressed in black ceremonial robes, holding a sword in his hands. The man's name in that moment was Jonta, a Paladin of almost 60 years combat experience. His left arm was fully Cybernetic, replaced after losing it during the battle of Mekhios. His long black hair is the only thing that escapes from under his hood.

Jonta looked up at the cloaked man standing before the 40 men and women among the congregation of the small chapel. Everyone around him had the same passion in their blood, the same dream in their hearts.

They would be Templar, Amarr's avenging Angels, the greatest warriors in New Eden.

The man standing above them was a man of the church, Father Alexander, the warrior-priest who had trained the congregation of Templar-Aspirants for the long and torturous months of testing to be sure they were physically and mentally ready for the weight they were about to wear. A man of the cloth, Alexander was not though. A broken man, perhaps burdened by the death he had caused throughout his existence. At that moment however, Jonta wasn't looking at Alexander's expression. The procedure was in mere hours, he would be an Eternal Crusader soon...

Alexander looked over the crowd, a stoic but at the same time...sad expression upon his countenance.

"....My friends...my brothers and sisters in God. We have been together a year, and each one of you has prepared for today. Many have been dismissed, many have failed due to lack of skill, faith, or....simply couldn't survive. But each of you here today is ready, and for that...."

Alexander sighed

".....I am sorry. Know that your sacrifice will not be in vain. Amarr needs each and every one of you. Go with God my children, rise as an Angel of Death, and a shield to the righteous."

Alexander gestured for them to rise, and they did all at once. Jonta was sweating, he was excited, but at the same time sad. He would not see his men again, at least not in a form they would recognize him. But...he had been chosen. It was his duty to accept the task before him, for he was a Paladin, the will of God is his will, and now, he would be Templar.

An hour later, Jonta sat quietly in a meditation chamber, kneeling in silent prayer thanking God for his duty and purpose. The implant had been inserted, but he was asked by Father Alexander to pray before his final transformation. The door behind him opened, and 6 men walked into the chamber, each wearing a black cloak. They formed a circle around the kneeling Jonta. A moment of quiet was followed by all of them speaking in unison

"State thy name child of God."

"Jonta Vadam...."

"What is your life?"

"My honor is my life."

"What is your fate?"

"My duty is my fate."

"What is your fear?"

"My fear is to fail."

"What is your reward?"

"My salvation is my reward."

"What is your craft?"

"My craft is reclaiming."

"What is your pledge?"

"My pledge is eternal service"

The six men each hold up a laser pistol

"You are Jonta no longer, die and rise anew, Templar Thal Vadam II"

They each fired, and Jonta fell....for a time.

His eyes shot open. He was sitting in a cloning tube, and he was searing with pain, and yet did not scream. He looked down, bionic limbs were attaching plates of heavy armor directly onto his body...but...was it really his body. His skin has grey and featureless, but far more powerful then it was before. He felt his muscles pumping, strength pounding through his form. The armor covered him to his chest, it was a bright gold and black, the symbol of the Amarrian Empire on his chest plate. He felt something connect to the back of his neck as the helmet came over him, and the results were miraculous. He was the armor, and it was him. It responded not to his body, but to his mind. A tactical display lit up before him, as the tube opened. He slowly stepped out, dripping with cloning fluid. He dwarfed all the technicians monitoring his rebirth, standing at about 9 feet tall. Another bionic arm extended from the floor, holding a Viziam Pattern Pulse Rifle. Thal thought, and his armor responded by picking up the weapon. It fit perfectly into the Templar's hands, as if the armor was made to hold it. He walked towards a door, that seemed to lead to a small chamber. The Templar was locked into a harness as a female voice uttered from a speaker

"Welcome Templar Vadam, your first mission begins now. This will serve as your final test. Prepare for entry."

Thal gripped the harness as the chamber was launched into space, the drop pod shuddering as he fell towards the surface. He looked out the small window, and saw two great fleets embroiled in fiery battle, and a bright blue planet below.

He gripped his rifle as he entered the atmosphere, the pod shaking heavily. The pod slammed into the ground, and Thal whispered

"I am wrath, I am ruin, I am Templar."

The pod opened, and the battle began.
