Title: So.. This is my intro, so umm.. Come read it! Or don't..
Post by: Integra Valentine on 26 Apr 2015, 17:52
Hello assorted people of Backstage of the simple machines forum, I am Integra Valentine! Or Ivy, or Poison Ivy if you like, I am a Caldari of the Civire bloodline, and going to be a dedicated ECM pilot (Hence the nickname Poison Ivy). Was wanting to get into the RP stuff as I find it really awesome and fun!

About me? Umm.. I like long walks along the Rohk blaster batteries, Cleaning my Caldari Navy missiles, Jamming things under the moonlight, and.. Banter! :D

I am only new to this game but I am loving it thus far, trying to learn all the ropes and learning how to proporly dive off this learning cliff so I survive it, haha! Hit me up in game if you want to chat in character or out of character, Ivy is pretty withdrawn for a capsuleer, lots of potential I hope to grow her backstory out with all you fine gent's and gal's and the hybrids! :D

I am currently in a Wormhole Corporation cause I figured it will get me some PvP content and let me use ECM to it's fullest! :D so here is hoping that turns out well and I don't get lost.. Too much.. Haha!

Anyways, that's me, so I look forward to meeting you all in the future, hopefully sooner rather then later! fly safe or fly hard! Or dead.. But that is no way to fly :P

Hey! :)

Welcome to Backstage, and hopefully despite your being in a WH I will still run into in-game and get some cool RPs!

See you around :D

Of course you will run into me in game! What kinda pilot would I be if I didn't try to find you and.. *Looks at the targeting computer*

Haha! Just joking, will be awesome to RP in game, even if I don't speak much, Ivy might surprise you with her knowledge and personality! :D

Thanks for the welcome! Hope to see and talk to you soon!

Welcome!

EVE is a vast game with a lot to offer and roleplay is one of those things.

I'ma a dirty, liberal Gallente that you'd probably rather shoot at than talk to but hey, we can at least be civil about it!

I hope to see you around in game!

You might be surprised by Ivy's political stance on that, hopefully I will get to RP with you at the conference or in game some time, thanks for the welcome :) Can't wait to chat with you!

Haha! Thanks for all the welcomes peoples! And to those who insulted the great path of enlightenment which is ECM, I say this "Some say ECM is "dishonorable" or "unfair", I say jam those ones first, and kill them last" hehe! :D plus, you don't hate ECM when it is flying with you ;)

Hope to see you all in game *looks at targeting computer* and chat IC and OCC!

Fly safe! :D

Embrace the superior E-war system: Sensor damps.

But however will I embrace it while your jammed 90km's away? :P

Good luck doing that when your lockrange is below 10km.  :P

Pro tip, (Just in advance, I am a statistics guy for my RL job) the chance of me jamming you out is better then you damping me at that range, And if we want to work out of optimal well.. I raise my 90 to 180km, hehe! ;) once I get my skills up we should test this.. Down the road of course, for funsies

There is no "Chance" on Damping. ECM is the only Diceroll E-war currently. As such your chance of "Sticking" your first Jam at 90km, which is Deep in Fall-off for most ECM boats and outright Out of Range in others is incredibly "chancey". Conversely, as long as the Damp-boat is within range, their dampeners will land. Albiet with some kind fall-off penalty. But at ranges like that losing 20-30km is basically your ability to target.

ECM is actually a more close quarter E-War than damp because the increased risk of missing a Jam makes it an all-or-nothing kind of Ewar. Damps on the other hand only lose the effective damp range when tilting deep into fall-off.

My Kitsune build and Blackbird build can jam at over 100km Optimal, I even have one "For Laughs" build which has an Optimal of 134km, Way more then any Sensor Damp I can find in PYFA, and this is with a strength enough to Perma Jam Frigates, and have up to 62% chance on a Crusier (according to EVE Uni's charts and some math) but yes, I am aiming to focus on a Rook, so that is like 42km with Racial optimal I think, But yeah, close range as a focus, but it isnt the ECM Rule. That and an in fallout Sensor Damps can 'Miss' which is the same as a ECM failing its chance for all intents and purpose, no? ECM just has the Dice roll all the time with a 50% hit to the chance in Falloff, where as other EWAR is 100% working untill falloff, then it has a 50% chance to fail, or have I gotten that wrong? Lots of info in this game, cant get them all right :(

Damps do not have a chance to "Miss" you've misread something, all damps take is a penalty to their effective dampening the deeper into falloff they are.

Also the Celestis Damps well out past an ECM boat (With rigs you can press it nearly to the hardlock 250KM targeting range!)

Hmm.. Might have to go back and re-read it, oh well, thanks for pointing that out, and isn't that kind of pointless at that range? Wouldn't the Target that you have just given a max targeting range of 20km to that is 250km away just warp to within 10km of you and wreak your face? ECM boats don't have to worry about that right? Cause the Warp distance is 125-150? 150 I think.. Doesn't that give the Sensor Damps a pretty big weakness if working past 150km to the point where it also is a liability?

Warp range is 150km. But you can't Warp to a non-fleet ship no matter how far it is.

That debate sounds a bit silly no ? Usually when both ships can target each other at that range, the first one to lock the target is usually the one that will jamm the other one, no matter the ewar employed. Unless the ECM cycle fails at first but well.

Lol sorry for turning your thread into a discussion about ewar :P

Anyways Viz, when ewar is in its falloff range then it has a chance to fail. That is both TDs, Damps and TPs. And ECM gets a lower jam chance.

Miz is right, my apologies. Apparently I was sold a bill of sour goods by my friends on the actual content of the Eve Nerf. Apologies to Integra for the mistake on the effects of fall-off. The other stuff is correct though.

@Lyn
Yeah its generally down to who can lock first. Unfortunately unless you completely forgo tank or prop or other luxuries to fit additional sensor boosters for scan res. ECM boats tend to suffer.

Doesn't ECM have an inverse falloff so it has myopia?

Um, excuse me. Are you from Minnesota?

Because this is a ridiculously Minnesotan thing to say. Just the right amount of self-deprecating and passive-aggressive.

Also even though I'm going on 12 years playing this game, you should know my character started as an ECM specialist.  :cube:

Back in the days jams weren't probability based, but additive and all-or-nothing.

I'm so old.

Nope, I am Australian! If you had to fight the wildlife to get to your mail box you'd be the same :P

And That is okay Vivage, this game has way to many modules and stuff to know everything 100% just confused me a bit cause I thought i read it right, but no harm :) and something i noticed last night making fits for my Corporation was that most ECM boats have a longer max targeting range, about 20km more then the Gallente Sensor Damp Boats, and give or take 50 above and below in Scan Res, so I say it purely depends on what boat you rock up with, but my ECM Blackbird (My little Poison Ivy, :D hehe!) has a 27k EHP tank, with 9.22 Jam strength, at 70km Optimal, 140km Falloff as of right now, and can lock a Cruiser in 2.2s :) Frigates take like 4-7 seconds depending (MWD or Sig). That and I like the idea of jamming out people, like last night aI was at Amarr, and this guy kept using his Guardian to help people in duels, so I kept jamming him out :) and local was so worth it! :D

Starfall, what is inverse falloff? :/

And no! Don't be sorry! I love it! Nobody in my Corporation knows anything about ECM or EWAR in general, so I like this :D

Thanks for all your replies :D

Doesn't ECM have an inverse falloff so it has myopia?

Nope. :) For example, check out the UniWiki article (http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/ECM_Guide#Falloff_and_Optimal_range), it doesn't mention inverse falloff. I've heard people talking about inverse falloff for all kinds of modules, but it doesn't exist in Eve.

P.S. Hi Kyoko :cube: Good to see old names around.
