It would probably be easier to just have an IRC.

It'd more effective to stop being a bad and resub.

We used to have an IRC channel on coldfront (#inspiracy) but I think it died of inactivity. I've remade it if people really want to use it.

Coldfront... now that's a name I've not heard in a long time... a long time.

While I like the idea of an IRC, most I have joined end up having a perpetual list of AFK folks and nobody talking after the first couple months.

I don't know if it's just me or a cultural thing, but I have not heard of IRC from like 10 years now. Isn't that thing a fossil thing ?

IRC remains. It's fortunately fallen from public eyes and thus isn't inundated by the plebs.

I am tempted sometimes to come back purely for the chat functions to keep in contact with folks, I will not lie.   But not worth a sub for that :p

Yeah, I know, you've got Steam for that.

Still, had to make the obligatory potshot. ;)

Yeah I forgot to put it in my auto-join list on coldfront, so when my laptop fell asleep it didn't reconnect. :p

Make it a thing actually on Backstage.

If I have to reinstall and load up mIRC I won't be using it, but if it's added to the forum functionality then I will probably be on it all the time.

Not quite a chatbox app for the forum, but people are welcome to sign up for the Tweetfleet Slack group (character name or backstage handle if you prefer, most people are using their ingame handles) if they would like. You can do so at the signup page located here (http://aideronrobotics.com/tweetfleet).

There's a bunch of channels already made, but #lore is probably the one most here will want to hang out in. I have not made a Backstage channel but I can do so if people would prefer it.

Ignoring the majority of the features, Slack's chat channels keep records of everything said so you can read back and see what you missed even while you were offline. I believe there are mobile apps for it as well, or you can just run it in a browser tab if you prefer. So it should satisfy most of the needs of the people who want a chatbox for backstage.

Anyone know why the Tweetfleet Slack is giving me "no_perms" when I try signing up for it?

That's because it's the old signup page from before Slack got mad that we used a part of their API that they hadn't closed off to 'free' tier users.

Use this (https://www.fuzzwork.co.uk/tweetfleet-slack-invites/) page instead.
