Title: adding avatar from URL
Post by: Marcus Gord on 08 Aug 2014, 04:42
is there something wrong with this?

i tried to add my eve avatar by using the url "https://image.eveonline.com/Character/1459348209_200.jpg" so it'd automatically update here if i made any changes.

it'd say my profile update was accepted, no errors, but it wouldn't show up, and the radio buttons for avatar would revert straight to 'no avatar'

i had to upload the same image from my machine to get it to work as you see on the left.

It might be the 'https' part, which you might not be able to do anything about. Does it work using another site's copy of your avatar, say, eveboard?

can't say I've tried. my eveboard is password protected from back in the Naraka days, and i can't remember what said password is.....

derp, if i take the s off, it'll still link to the image. so i'mma try it again.

and i tried it, i get

"The following errors occurred when trying to save your profile:
The avatar you have selected is too large, or not an avatar."

it's not too large, it's the same size as the one on the left.....

Dunno about the size issues, but I'd try "damndirtyape" as the password and see if it works... :cube:

Might have to just repost it to some imagesharing site and deal with avatar updates when they come?

Use http rather than https and use "_128.jpg" at the end of the link for the 128px image.  Yes, it's a bit smaller than you'd like, but it should work.
