So I've been trying to do some research on what I think Ni-Kunni Wind Dancing and Blade Dancing MIGHT resemble and get a handle on what my character occasionally babbles about. While I've made a little bit of progress, I also figured I would want to share some of the "fruits" of my labors though.

I'm thinking maybe a "modern" take on the traditional arts along with some cross-cultural pollination. Maybe some of the Vherokior Heavy Metal folks took a liking to some of the Ni-Kunni dance :).

So far it's been pretty tough to find any sort of "good" traditional type dancing videos with swords and/or men. Mostly it seems to default to belly dancing.
With all of that being said, have any of you done any "research projects" and come across some really cool stuff/source material that you'd like to share?

Well there's Al Ardha, which might provide some material for your research if you haven't already put it aside. Saudi and Qatar ardha seem to be more up-tempo, while the Bahraini and Iranian ardha are a bit more relaxed. Some seem to have replaced the sword with rifles as well, which are sometimes discharged during the dance.
Maybe some combination of this and the dervishes ceremonial dance, along with the traditional garb of the Qashqai people, might approximate the Wind Dance as described.
