Title: Transcranial Microcontrollers
Post by: Casiella on 17 May 2010, 15:43
Other than the item description and the news reports about the Ishukone/Khanid controversies in their use, do we have any other background (official or player-created) about these?

Don't forget the Gallente Senator who thought he was a young girl during a senate session - that's the best part.

Also, for player made, Ciarente and I had a fairly extensive story arc (Later made into an actual story) in which they were an important component. Into the Dark (http://silvernight-fiction.blogspot.com/2009/07/into-dark-one.html). They are sort of sprinkled through, like plot-device chocolate chips. That control your mind.

Oh yes, I did!

Thanks for the link, too.

Psst.  Casi?  The Linear story on my blog deals with an alpha wetware version some Ishukone researchers were kicking around until Ishukone bought the first actual TCMC.   Well, a defective copy of it anyway.  :P

You can have the TL;dr version of it if you like.  I know my writing can give you headaches.

They're used in a lot of computing systems it seems.

On test server...
They're used to build all POS and station things
Yeah, that actually motivated my initial interest in them. I can build them and roleplay with them at the same time? Perfect.

They are an item with a lot of in-game history.

Please see this post (http://www.eve-chatsubo.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=119751#p119751) up on that "other forum" for my ramblings about my personal history with them at the dawn of time.

Grae has some history with them too, in the [classified] parts of his backstory.

They are super handy, plot wise.

TCMCs are also used to control machinery and drones according to their ingame descriptions, not just people.

If they're just being used to control machinery, that leads me to suspect they can be a two-way control flow, also working like a limited version of the capsuleer implants - i.e., the control signal can also flow out of a person for seamless interaction with an otherwise automated system as well as in to control the person they are installed in. Makes sense, when you consider they were supposedly adapted from Sansha tech. (I think?)

If I come back to eve, Havo's going to buy these things in bulk.

They are now manufacturable with PI >_> was tempting to go into production for them but right now I am happy with my own little world domination sequences. :P

It does however, open the corridors for people to RP more with them.
