Title: [Character] Tamiroth
Post by: Tamiroth on 23 Jul 2012, 12:13
Name: Tamiroth Alet Azaph of Qarad Nasamih
Date of Birth: YC 93.02.12 (Age 24)
Place of Birth: Qarad Nasamih, Danera V, Danera system, Khanid Kingdom.
Parents:
  Ynir Azaph of Qarad Nasamih, captain of Royal Khanid Navy and Holder of Qarad Nasamih on Danera V (MIA 110.12.24);
Tanaz Azaph, fourth daughter of Lord Ashad-Maghon of Rahabeda (DECEASED).
Ethnicity: Amarr - Khanid
Hair Color: Brown (natural), known to change
Eye Color: Moss green
Height:  5' 4" (163 cm)
Weight: 112 lb. (51 kg)

Pre-Capsuleer Background

Tamiroth's father, Ynir Azaph, was an officer of the Khanid Royal Navy elevated to Holder status by Khanid II in late 80s after a minor campaign in Querious. Ynir was granted a token estate near lake Nasamih on Danera V and some 1000 slaves, but continued his service as captain of Omen-class HMS Gardens of the Faithful. His daughter was born and raised on Danera V.

Tanaz Azaph perished in a rather suspicious shuttle crash on Khanid Prime when Tamiroth was 5. A sebiestor slave engineer was blamed for this accident, but Ynir always thought that his wife was murdered by the enemies of her father's house. Lord Ashad-Maghon fell from power shortly thereafter, when his connections to one of the failed coups against Khanid II were uncovered. The patriarch committed ritual suicide and his House was demoted to commoner status.

Tamiroth never knew about this, though. She didn't even knew that her mother was dead until she turned 9. Most of the time Tamiroth's father was away on his military duty, so the "little lady" was raised by a motley crew of retainers, trusted slaves and retired marines who had nowhere to go but to continue serving "ye ole cap'n" as security staff, pilots, engineers and the like. When lord Azaph was present, however, he allowed his "tomboy princess" nearly total freedom in everything - as long as no permanent damage was caused. Reputational damage to the House Azaph was considered as "permanent" and punished swiftly, so Tammy's freedom had rather strictly limited borders she never dared to cross.

The girl grew up on the drastic differences between the "inner world" of the estate, where she led a life more suitable to a upper-middle-class Gallentean child than to the daughter of a Khanid Holder, and the "outer world", rigid and victorian-esque. Thus, on the other hand, she cannot really imagine the life of a proper Holder family, but, on the other hand, treating everything outside her private life like a military/civil service of sorts for her is the absolute norm, "You don't do these things on public because you just don't".

The girl had a bright, but somewhat limited mind (attempts to feel the things like quantum mechanics/heat death of the universe actually scare the hell out of her) and grew up a staunch theist, partially because nobody really forced the religion on her. Of course, if her beliefs were thoroughly examined by a proper Amarrian priest, he'd find a truckload of heresy, but she hides it well behind passionate words about God and quotes from scripture.

In fact, despite thinking of herself as an Unionist, a patriot of "Pax Amarria" and a believer, she knows little to nothing about the true inner workings of Amarr society. Inter- and in-House intrigue, etc. were things totally alien to her. Doublethink approach to slavery comes from the realities of the estate: there were valued house slaves, servants, maids, nannies who were called by their names and were "people", if of low social status, and there were Ealurian workers, who were "it", nameless human livestock.

In summer 110 Tamiroth was sent to study history and management in Royal Amarr Institute. On Dec 24th 110 Ynir Azaph's ship was destroyed by the Blood Raiders during the operation to capture Dochuta Karsoth. The captain, among several dozen others whose bodies were never recovered, was declared missing in action, but Tamiroth believes him dead. In April 111 the representatives of the Ministry of War approached the girl with the offer of sponsorship from MoW for her capsuleer training, as she was found to be compatible. On May 25, 111, Tamiroth Alet Azaph was officially registered as capsuleer in training in the RIN database.

 YC 114

In the summer of YC114, Tamiroth, who has finished her training (but still listed as a RIN employee), first appears among the loyalist capuleers. She gains something of a short-lived popularity with her series of writings published on IGS (http://backstage.eve-inspiracy.com/index.php?topic=4265.0). Prominent figures like Gaven Lok'ri, Graelyn and Aldrith Shutaq begin to notice her, but her "sermonizing" also annoys some more radical Minmatar. Petty bickering over words said on IGS ends in a frigate duel with Anabella Rella in Pator.

Tamiroth's curiosity and her interest in the history of the First Jovian Empire lead her to an ill-fated foray into the nullsec. But she's still very inexperienced, and the expedition to Curse fails. Her ship is destroyed and she is killed by local pirates.

This was her first (and only, so far) death. She hides it, refusing to accept that, according to her own beliefs, she is now but a soulless clone. Depressed, she retreats to her estate and tries to live a normal life, managing the assets father left her.

 YC 115

Next year, Tamiroth appears at the PIE 10th anniversary grand ball, the parade of the Golden Fleet above Amarr Prime and participates in the "public tour" of the Praetoria Imperialis Excubitoris alliance. She also cooperates with Odelya d'Hanguest in compiling Odelya's book, "Apex Militis"; some of Tamiroth's writings "on the greater destiny of the Khanid people" are published there. She arranges an interview with Aethion Mirra, overseer of the "public tour" and recruiter of PIE, and almost ends up joining PIE proper, but this gets cancelled at the last moment for some obscure reason.

 YC 116

Tamiroth is a freelancer employed by Ministry of War. She is based off Danera and occasionally seen patrolling the Amdimmah constellation in an Armageddon-class battleship, "The Seven Gates", eliminating Blood Raiders and Rogue Drone incursions, but spends most of her time planetside.

Those in contact with the local Khanid nobility can gather some information and the general impression of Tamiroth seems not to be favorable. While her father was just an "upstart nobody from the navy", his daughter seemingly "plays Ardishapur on ten square miles" and acts with her meagre slave stock more like a benevolent True Amarr holder would, dedicating disproportional time and resources to their "enlighthening". The locals generally agree that this is not going to end well, with St.Arzad and Khumaak-themed jokes passed around. She also gains reputation of an Unionist.

YC 117

The Drifters attack the Throne Worlds and the Succession Trials are held as situation in the warzone quickly deteriorates. Tamiroth appears in Amarr again and almost immediately enlists in the 24th Imperial Crusade. During her brief two-week stunt in the militia, she participates in the ultimately failed defences of Raa and Uemisaisen, flying as a tackler under the command of Mira DeVorsha of Habitual Chaos. She also discovers that Nauplius, a Royal Navy veteran from Danera V, who also was once a commoner and served in the same campaigns as Tamiroth's father, went mad and is sacrificing millions of slaves to the Red God.

Tamiroth makes a series of fiery posts on IGS, essentially declaring a small private war on Nauplius. But when it comes to actual ship-to-ship combat with "The Butcher", she loses - the old veteran is a much better pilot, despite his apparent insanity.

Feeling completely helpless to stop the darkness that encroaches on her world from all sides, in search of allies Tamiroth joins Societas Imperialis Sceptri Coronaeque.

Brilliant character history!

I could see a lot of interesting interaction between Azdan and Tamiroth if the opportunities presented themselves.

I can think of a couple people who would probably like to meet Tamiroth. :3

Might even drag one or two of them out of their Unsubbed Cave of Hiding +5, too. >.>

Yeah everyone wants to meet Tamiroth. :3

Yeah, but most of the people who study physics don't make the child's mistake by trying to honestly imagine how it all will happen. Like a 7-year old realizing that his conscience will inevitably cease to exist one day and going BSOD. And she does exactly that, every time. As a result - hates physics, fills the scary universe with God (quite different from the Amarrian original), will kill those who try to make universe scary again. Quirks of the mind...

While heat death is terrifying, I console myself with the fact that its all but certain we really have no clue whats actually going on with quantum mechanics and the future/past of the universe, and likely we're way off of what happens in the future.

Im sure scientists were afraid of the inevitable loss of phlogiston in our universe a couple hundred years ago.

Consider Namkhai counted amongst them. :) I think they'd have a lot to talk about.

ICLY, for me she is one of luna's "teacher's pets."  A definite favorite character with wonderful backstory!

By the way - just for reference - that's where her planetside holdings on Danera V are:

(they exist ingame as PI network with command center at that exact spot.)
