Title: Character stand-ins. Or, "EVE: The Motion Picture"
Post by: Casiella on 19 Apr 2010, 14:58
Which is a fancy way of saying, who would play your character in an EVE movie / miniseries / etc.

For Casi, I currently envision someone like Keira Knightley, or perhaps Winona Ryder circa 1997. Though it strikes me that they'd need to be a little shorter.

Zu - Gina Torres - the woman who played Zoey in the series Firefly.

I'd have to think awhile on Deanna.

Post by: Ashar Kor-Azor on 19 Apr 2010, 15:56
Man, it's been a long time since we've had one of these threads.

I'd say Katee Sackhoff had the physicality, presence, and intense stare to do it. Plus she can at least fake her way through smoking a cigar.

Lucy Lawless has a rather Ashar-like face, but is sort of a joke half the time now. And Demi Moore, in GJ Jane, would about do it. Except she's kind of off...but then again, so's Ashar.

Post by: Natalcya Katla on 19 Apr 2010, 15:57
Oh, that's easy.

Katla would definitely have to be played by Tilda Swinton. She'd be a perfect fit.  :)
Title: Re: Character stand-ins. Or, "EVE: The Motion Picture"
Post by: Ciarente on 19 Apr 2010, 18:16
Scarlett johansson, with the caveat that she bears as much resemblance to Cia as Julia Roberts does to the real Erin Brokovitch ...

Camille would obviously have to be played by Abigail Breslin ...

Jack Madison -Russel Crowe, if I didn't have a time machine to go back and cast Jack Thompson circa 1975

Nerila - definitely Maribel Verdu

I'd have to think about the rest of the alt parade.

Post by: Mizhara on 19 Apr 2010, 18:22
Depends on which Miz we're talking about. I've got several. At least two would be portrayed well by Milla Jovovich.

Post by: Mitara Newelle on 19 Apr 2010, 20:00
If we have a nice special effects budget, I would morph Jodi Lyn O'Keefe's head onto Beth Phoenix's body.

If we can choose but one, Gina Carano.
Title: Re: Character stand-ins. Or, "EVE: The Motion Picture"
Post by: IzzyChan on 19 Apr 2010, 20:58
I would play as Izzeh.
Title: Re: Character stand-ins. Or, "EVE: The Motion Picture"
Post by: Ember Vykos on 20 Apr 2010, 16:50
For Ember I think Katee Sackhoff would be best. Shes about 4 inches too short but it doesnt matter too much in movies. I kinda based Ember off of Starbuck anyway so it would be a role she is used too.

Joseph Kucan. Pulls of the complete and utter calm yet badass attitude.

Title: Re: Character stand-ins. Or, "EVE: The Motion Picture"
Post by: Rodj Blake on 21 Apr 2010, 06:46
Since Rodj is such a good-looking charmer, he should be played by either George Clooney or Brad Pitt.

But Richard Wilson is more likely to be cast in the role.
Title: Re: Character stand-ins. Or, "EVE: The Motion Picture"
Post by: Gottii on 21 Apr 2010, 11:50
While I have a fairly set idea of what Gottii looks like, I really cant think of an actor that I would cast to play him.

Not sure if thats a good or bad thing.

Maybe part of it is the lack of roles for massive, scarred, tattooed actors in Hollywood.  Maybe another part of it is Ive tried to intentionally make his personality in marked contrast to his apperance.

However, I would be interested to hear if any of my regular RP buddies would have a take on how to cast him.

All the asian acresses I can think off are too pretty to fit, its really frustrating, I guess I could settle for a more ugly Zhang Ziyi.  :bash:

I think Wan would have to be played by Laurence Fishburne. This would be a pretty typical Wanoah pose:

I think it's pretty clear, for Silver: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iBELC_vxqhI

Though I don't flatter myself that I'm that good. There are a couple of good, not very related points about argument and 'hand waving' in there, too.

I think Hilion might need to be largely computer generated. Like Gollum.

Amieta... I'll have to think on.

Zu - Gina Torres - the woman who played Zoey in the series Firefly.

I'd have to think awhile on Deanna.

Attached photo for those that don't know who I'm talking about.  Obviously different hair style - but hair is a minor change with movie stars.

Edit: In hindsight - Zu should grow out her hair.

Holy crap, Shae, she even kind of looks like you!

I haven't got a decent actor right now, but Seriphyn would roughly be renegade Commander Shepard.

I am somewhat (read: not really) ashamed to admit that the person that comes to mind for Morwen is Alizée Jacotey (http://img64.imageshack.us/img64/7930/alizee1955medfi9.jpg). (Additional image (http://imstars.aufeminin.com/stars/fan/alizee/alizee-20070523-259990.jpg))

I blame Tainted Orphen's bio for linking me to the official music video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=240S04eCCC0) for her song "J'en ai marre," and when I decided I liked the music, I poked around a bit and found this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zgqNKQr8ZTQ) video (same song, from a TV concert or something) where I did a double-take when I realized she more or less matched my mental image of what Morwen looked like -- it was hard to tell in the first one with all the water.

The irony that Morwen is a musician in her spare time/as a hobby (from early on in RP), and that Alizée is a French pop artist, is not lost on me. :P

Syyl'ara would be done by Mariska Hargitay, Law & Order: SVU's tough-but-tender Detective Olivia Benson.  Yaan'su I dug around for a while and came up with Reiko Aylesworth.

Robert Downey Jr with a mix of Tony Stark and Sherlock Holmes  :D

TONIGHT - WE WILL SHAKE THIS CAVE.

In light of the spate of A-listy and B-listy actors on the list, I'm gonna change mine to like...

...like if Mary Stuart Masterson and Jodie Foster had a love child that was a five-foot-ten fundie Brunette with a stare that could find purpose in the mining industry, I'd hire that.

Celeste used to be difficult to visualize.  Then I watched a few episodes of ABC's Better Off Ted.

Celeste = Portia di Rossi as Veronica Palmer (http://abc.go.com/shows/better-off-ted/photo-details/veronica-palmer/184168/247741).  Just give her silver hair and age her about ten years.

Vieve and Sabi?  Eeeeh.   This picture of Aishwarya Rai (http://www.askmen.com/galleries/aishwarya-rai/picture-9.html) is close to Vieve (though Vieve's hair is black, and it'd be an explosion of curls if it was as long as Aishwarya has her hair in that photo).  Sabi looks more like Amanda Peet (http://www.imdb.com/media/rm1062047232/nm0001605) would if Amanda had to get herself in shape to take on the Linda Hamilton role in a Terminator 2 remake.

I still have not been able to think of someone for Seriphyn. So, renegade Shepard he shall be.

"I don't have time to justify myself to your viewers, I have a Federation to save, excuse me"

Now to send a mail to Mark Meer and ask him to do some voiceovers

Also, without the accent or skin colour, Seriphyn probably has the one-liner quirks of Arnold Schwarznegger etc. especially when shooting people...so that is his stand-in for now

Aside from the whole being dead thing...

I thought about it, being a Price fan myself, I really tried to imagine him as Vince. Indeed as a young man he had the looks to pull it off but in the end I don't think he'd fit Vince. He'd have the charm and the looks for sure but, don't think he could pull off the emo.

And come on, obvious answer would have been too obvious :D

Hmm, as the A-list choice I'd cast Jessica Alba. A bit "meh" perhaps, but she at least comes close physically. Not sure if she could pull off the intensity or if I can forgive her for the Fantastic Four, though.

In case we don't have the budget for an A-list production (or GoGo is not an important character in the storyline), I'd go for Stephanie Jacobsen who played Kendra Shaw in BSG's Razor. Her look is very asian, but I remember watching Razor and thinking that she had a demeanor to suit GoGo.

Either one goes, really.

Took me a while to figure it out, but probably Alan Rickman, for the ease with which he pulls off that bemused-aggravated 'WTF is this shit?' look which I imagine Ze'ev's face is more or less permanently locked when dealing with most other capsuleers.

K, I'll bite. I'm not a big fan of any A-list actors, so I did a quick browsing and here's what I came up with for Kokobear: Amiera Darwish (http://ia.media-imdb.com/images/M/MV5BMTYwNjczMzg5NV5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwMjcyMDc2Mw@@._V1_.jpg)

Scottish accent is a bit strong and I've no clue about her acting ability but her build is rather perfect for the role.

He's a bit too old though: imagine him in his thirties.

Plus, he kinda looks like the in-game avatar in a weird sort of way.

I noticed most of you picked either top-tier hollywood super-idols, or some variant of homosexual/androgynous genderWTF to represent your movie personas. Why? Why didn't anyone pick a single average-looking commoner uggo bastard to play them? If I had anyone in mind to play Istvaan, it'd be Ciaran Hinds because he looks like a bitter miserable creature like I am in real life.

I don't mean this as an insult or anything, I genuinely want to get a feel for this forum.

edit: Jesus, upon further review it seems someone else in this thread picked Ciaran Hinds too. And now I feel like I can't come up with anything original anymore.

Well, I don't want to get sued, so I only use pictures of people who, according to U.S. law, are considered "public" persons, and thus have little in terms of legal protection from other people posting pictures of them.

The truth is that I used my own appearance as the model for Vik when I first made him. It seemed easiest.

I think that's implicit in the idea of 'who would be cast to play your character'. Erin Brokovitch doesn't look like Julia Roberts, after all, nor does Temple Grandin look like Claire Danes.

I know it's not intellectually very appropriate in a nerd-gasm kind of manner, but I'm tempted to ask "why not?" in response.

I offered an A-list and B-list alternative basically because A) I thought it would be fun (the contrast would add to the information value of choices) and B) because I guessed someone would raise the issue (because, I'm guessing, there is an inherent dislike towards success and fame in nerd-circles which makes an A-list choice somewhat "wrong", which, no matter if any correct or wrong opposition to the subject is present here, these are). The a-listers are good alternatives because they're well known so we share a "language" to communicate in, so to speak. Besides these kinds of answers, I'm kinda stumped who we should be offering as alternatives that would actually be meaningful in any manner.

The "girl next door" is not a very interesting answer, is it?

Mei Starkiller, as a sociopathic bitch would need an actress that can play that well so I think Jin Xing (http://thestar.com.my/archives/2007/4/30/lifefocus/f_p5JinXing.jpg) would be the best choice for her.

(http://)One, I think one reason people use a lot of beautiful celebs rather than "common" people, beyond simple Marysue-ism is that celebs serve as a stand in for easily recognized people.  I could say "Gottii looks exactly like that ass at the gym who grunts too loud when doing squats" but that doesnt help anyone but me.  So, celebs serve as a nice shorthand.

So, for the longest time, I completely had no idea who would be a stand in for Gottii.  Freakishly huge due to Amarrian genetic manipulation, non-Caucasian, generally serious but somewhat goofy and self-depreciating to cover up his insecurities due to his size, and wears sunglasses.  I generally had drawn a blank this whole time.

Until, it dawned on me.  Im kinda shocked and disappointed it took me this long to make the connection.

So, when casting Gottii, I would pick....The Rock.

as Senn Typhos
(http://img851.imageshack.us/img851/2001/newsenn.jpg)

Not for his work in Star Trek, but for his work in Smokin' Aces. He'll need to look fairly disheveled for the "low level criminal" scenes, and equally good with a clean cut look for the "capsuleer advisor" parts. The bonus is, he's sufficiently jarheaded and able to pull off a cold, emotionless stare easily.

I designed Ryven with a particular actor in mind.  The looks aren't perfect, but, the voice and attitude tend to match somewhat, although, Ryven is slightly less grumpy than Michael Ironside usually is in movies and stuff.

Karina Lombard is Silas.

She of courses matches the 'old' character generator, when you could actually give Amarrians some skin tone and they had a completely different facial structure....

Lexa Doig, all the way. Her portrayal of the Andromeda Ascendent's AI was part of the inspiration for Yuni... the other part being Summer Glau's portrayal of River Tam from Firefly.

Gosh, that's a good question. Who would play Andreus?

Who could grasp the subtle complexities of the character? Who could understand his internal struggles and personal hangups? Who would be able to believably portray his unique, mercurial personality? I struggled long and hard over this deep and difficult conundrum, spending endless daylight hours and sleepless nights agonising over it in my head. But I think I'm finally ready to reveal who would have the honour - and the responsibility - of bringing Andreus Ixiris to life on the big screen.

When you see my choice, I think you'll be in complete agreement with me that no-one else could possibly manage the Herculean task.

I know I said Lazytown girl for Anette a while back, but I have since changed my mind (primarily because Julianna Rose Mariello hasn't done anything but Lazytown).

But after deeper, less impulsive thought, I think Chloe Moretz fits Anette much better (except Anette is going on 13 and I believe CGM is 16, as well as the fact that Anette is Ambiguously Brown (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/AmbiguouslyBrown)).

Unfortunately for Odelya I can only think of Japanese AV Idols—but maybe it is better not to overdo! :P

So let us ask this nice lady from a headphone trade fair in Essen/Germany if she would star Odelya:

Which is a fancy way of saying, who would play your character in an EVE movie / miniseries / etc.
Cillian Murphy, maybe.

For Miz? No one could do her justice except Eva Green. She just has the perfect range for it. Somewhat sinister, even when classy and deadly grim when she wants to be. From pretty to hideous, from serene to wrath, from calm to goddess of war... Eva Green does it all and have always given me a Miz vibe when she does so.

Based on conversations the other night, Mariska Hargitay would be the best choice for Jenn. She'd need a little darker skin-tone, though.

To play the members of CTCS, I would suggest these actresses:

Margot Robbie

Rebecca De Mornay
(http://www.hairfinder.com/celebr/rebecca-de-mornay-over-40-hairstyle.jpg)
Michelle Pfeiffer

Sharon Stone

Lisa Kudrow

Amanda Seyfried

Not sure which would be most appropriate for Synthia.

I think they look more similar than the other choices.

If I were to cast an actress for Synthia though, it would be Charlize Theron.
