Title: Migrating the site
Post by: Silver Night on 17 Jan 2011, 15:28
Backstage will be migrating to a new host sometime in the next week or so (Probably starting Friday), if all goes according to plan. This will likely involve some outages, etc. Don't panic. We should have everything back up and running sometime next week at the latest.

Why you don't have that as your avatar here is beyond me Bacch. :P

If things do go wrong we'll keep at least the OOC channel up-to-date on the status.

Ok, last time the migration didn't happen. It should go through starting later today, and there may be disruptions over the next few days.

Happily once it's complete, we should be able to do something about this god-awful theme.

But... I've gotten used to it by now...

The attachments upload directory is not writable. Your attachment or avatar cannot be saved.

Happens when trying to upload an avatar. You need to change the permissions on that folder. In technobabble that would be cmod to 777. In less technobable you need to find the folder on the server this goes into and change the permissions to writable. If all that doesn't make sense to the admins I can explain a long version or just put my avatar on photobucket I suppose :(

So when do we get the old, less eye-melty theme back? >>

I'm waiting for the DNS stuff to be all finished, then we'll see about unfucking the theme.

And possibly other reasonably nice upgrades. Even this theme seems to be a bit screwed as the moderator comment tags are totally broken in the edit window too.  :s

Yeah, this theme actually isn't really compatible with a couple of the package we have.

apart from some missing img at the bottom of the page, the "darkbreak" theme which was the one we had before, seems fine?

Think DarkBreak should be working now (some stuff was still pointing at an old directory). That being said, I'm not going to set it to default for at least a couple days to be more sure that nothing is going to explode.

In the mean time, use at your own risk.  :D

Also, if someone wants to test uploading an avatar, think it may work now.

Looks good so far... passes the smoke test, anyway.

My eyes thank you.

Default theme (for everyone) set back to DarkBreak.

If you have problems, post here or in the 'theme broken' thread.
