TLDR - do you play as your EVE characters in other games? And if so, does the experience feedback into the way you play your characters in EVE?
Case in point - when I was playing Mass Effect, I did run throughs with each of my characters. I reacted in the ways I think they would normally react in-game, like Sakura or Eri being short-tempered and eagerly embracing violent solutions to problems, or Ereka being patient and diplomatically trying to win arguments. In the process though, I think some of those experiences fed back into their EVE personalities.
Has anyone else had this happen to them? Did you actively use another game to help develop your character?
Discuss (preferably with what game you played in the process, ofc).

No.
There is not a single game out there where Faith is part of the equation, while for Lallara it kind of was the center theme of her whole life.
Spirituality and Faith are two things that are pretty much shrugged off in any game setting.
Either it is magically hand waved in like in high magic RPGs just as a different type of magic or it is completely ignored like in any sci-fi setting.
Even in Star Wars universe, the religious side of the Jedi is completely forgotten about and shrugged off as nothing but mysticism that actually works without going into detail any further.
You throw on top of that the black and white morality of every game and the depth of EVEs setting is impossible to emulate.
Then there is the fact that in the 'best' RPGs (which tend to be Bioware) your choices actually do not matter the least bit, which kind of discourages you from taking the roleplaying seriously (and the fact that your choices tend to be in the triangle of an asshole, someone who does not give a shit or a goody two shoes does not really help.)
Fuck 'RPGs', the fact that you accumulate xp is the reason for the 'RP' not immersion or playing as a character.

I sense bitterness :P.

Possibly. I have used my character's first name in a few other games, but I don't RP in any of them like I do in EVE. I haven't consciously said "What would Sakaane do?" but I have made choices in those games that felt right for that game's character. I suppose there could be some influence back to EVE though, perhaps most directly from Mass Effect.
But. But! One of the games I play is Age of Conan, and in this game, Sakaane and Bataav (because we play together ♥) have a guild called "Path of the Intaki". We've considered making an in-joke somewhere in our EVE RP about our EVE characters having odd dreams about running around as barbarians in armored loincloths hacking up other armored loinclothed barbarians.
Anything more deep than that? Hasn't happened that I'm aware of.

TS-F briefly entertained www.firstpersontetris.com as something IC to be participated in. 'Rudimentary assembly training for babies'. Or something like that.
I made a medal for whoever beat Ghost's high score. She beat Ghost at the entire game. gg

It never really crossed my mind...
But I find most RPGs not really fitting the concept anyway. Too little options, or just not granular enough to perfectly render how my characters would react everytime.
-
I did play a "Natalcya Shepard" in my first playthrough of Mass Effect, actually, with a bald-shaved head and a stiff and unpleasant disposition wherever possible. Unfortunately, in a similar vein to what Lallara says above, playing as a gunshy coward in a Bioware game isn't really feasible.

I kinda go this weird reverse meta route wherein I imagine my character playing the game, and make choices that Saede would make if she were playing said game.
And then I talk about it in the Summit :D

There exists a character in GW2 named Esna Pitoojee, but I'm rapidly finding that the vast differences between GW2 and EVE's RP styles make for a rather different character.
-
Secoding that. I can recognize some common points between my EVE characters and others I've played, but those feel more like my personal style and predilections coming through than real kinship between them. I feel EVE's central themes are so different from most other games's that while some personality traits and archetypes might carry over, the formative experiences and even day-to-day hassle would draw two similar characters apart very, very quickly.

Confirming this, and I'm also going to say that a Rin Kaelestria also exists in GW2 as well. There are some similarities, but honestly I think if anything the EVE toon inspired some of those personalities more then the other way around.

I think that's one thing that's sort of rattled around in my head a bit - despite being capsuleers, demigods of unimaginable power, wouldn't our characters enjoy playing games once in awhile? After all, many / most of them had normal childhoods, growing up and doing kid things from pranks to games with friends, wouldn't that stay with them for the rest of their lives?
After all, if you're effectively immortal, why not take a few days / weeks break now and then to have some fun? Go on a vacation, tour someplace, or be lazy and have fun? I think that for some, gaming would be apart of that, especially if it was hard and challenging, and was a means of being social with other podders.

Yes. (https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=189039&find=unread)
And then the Fourth Wall cried.

I have played some of my "minor" characters in other games (Hannali as a paragon Shepard, Suosio as a renegade one).
I've also been guilty of creating other people's characters in Sims 3 and letting them run around as NPCs.
-
Sweet jebus, imagine if someone recreated all of our characters in the Sims, and left them to their own devices.
-
Confirming Esna would live with all the Minmatar wimmenz. :P
-
I made John Revenent in GW2 as a joke, but I couldn't quite capture JFR in the character screen.
-
For some reasons my characters seem to enjoy terribly bad puns. But that aside, I try to create different characters for each game I play, but since I favor a more organic development that starts with a rough idea and then explores the specifics through playing over a strict three-year-plan some characteristics and similarities bleed through.
