Hello, and thank you, Silver Knight, for inviting me to Backstage. I've read a few of the character development posts, already.
On EvE-Online, I play Orion Cor. The only role playing I've done with him are a few responses in The Intergalactic Summit thread. There, I hope I gave him the appearance of being wise, perhaps beyond his years, and respectful of other cultures even as they are not. In game, I simply play him as I'm not in a role play corp.
Since reading the responses in the survey thread on role play (http://"http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1306206"), I've had a flood of ideas; so much so I started a new character, and for two days paused Orion Cors skill queue with the intent to terminate him (again). Instead, I terminated the new character and went back to playing as Orion, but with a greater sense of intention to role play...except I'm not in a role play corp :P . I can explain those ideas later.
I had begun one other role play character on EVE: Saas Manedari, a Khanid male whose mother was a Brutor slave killed, to save his life, by their cruel Amarrian master and a Caldari CEO. Needless to say, I terminated Saas Manedari, though I had a story-thread started in the Intergalactic Summit. If Orion Core has a backstory, it'll be a mundane one, rather than dramatic.

Huhm, I'm confused, now. I've played dozens of charcters over the course of a year. Where do I go? Right of center, or left?

Don't worry, I doubt you're at bitter vet status, yet anyway. ;)

One thing to be aware of, though, is that we're roleplayers. Thus we immediately hit the bitter stage, about one month into the game. Veterans however combine that with bitching about how the game mechanics were better before, and roleplayers used to be worth something.

You're not even bitter yet - you're learning. Everyone gets to go through these re-assessments of the value of drama created from the background and shit like that. Basically, pat yourself on the back and let's get you to the next one, maybe with some entertainin' roleplay on the way.
Your efforts are to be applauded.
