So I've been playing a bit of League Of Legends lately, a DoTA inspired MOBA type game. It's been allot of fun, but on occasion you get a bit of this;
"Sadly the community's patience for new members is, for the most part, nonexistent. While learning to play the game, be prepared to hear derogatory comments left and right. The use of the "r" word is, for example, more frequent in this game than such classics as "is, a, the, and it". Perhaps most annoyingly, be prepared to be blamed for others mistakes, by those not big enough to admit their own wrongdoing, innocent as it may be. Really the only significant thing wrong with League of Legends are the people playing it, but we can't really blame the game for creating such a passionate fan base, for better or worse."
Still enjoyable one might get a few events of this;

And ofc, time for some lore... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ebJR2lBZsOc (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ebJR2lBZsOc)
Enjoy. I'll get back to my lane...

Played it for two weeks several years ago. Fell victim to the only gaming community I have ever seen that is populated by more assholes than eve. The game itself was ok, (from what I remember), but playing in random matches, not with people you already know, is likely to leave you emotionally scarred. So not something I'm likely to pick up again. But from what I've heard of other peoples experiences, once you have a bit of practice and experience it can be good fun.

I play LoL extensively (1850 ranked in Season 1), and I pretty much second Kala's comment - this game really does have more asshole than EVE.
That being said, it is absolutely amazing to play with friends.
-
I ended up playing RoI over winter due to Steam and got hooked on it.
Myrhial keeps poking me to play LoL instead, I'll get around to it...

Tried LoL some time ago but didn't liked it, but heard abit about this kind of behavior

RoI might have less assholes in it though, haha. But yeah, I'm having fun with it, I just totally flat out ignore what others say.
And well, there'll be DOTA 2 soon enough (wish I had a beta key), can just go and play that if it proves to be more satisfactory.

I've played a fair bit of LoL, and it's quite enjoyable if you either A: Play with a couple friends or B: Tune out the thundering retardmobiles. Or C: Both.

And since I know I'm insanely competitive in a lot of these games, this is why I'll -never- play League of Legends or any other of these games.
-
I will confess that LoL can be somewhat rage-inducing at times .____.

Blizz DOTA out soon too, definately playing that one.
RoI has a few assholes, the ones that whine if you happen to think the same thing they do and suddenly they don't get maximum xp from killing creeps.

Reppy and Inara had me playing LoL for about a week. Not really my thing (RTS generally aren't), but I did have fun playing with people I knew.
-
I played HoN once. It was the worst game I have ever played, and I've played Final Fantasy X.
-
Eh, the LoL community wasn't half as bad as the original DotA community on BNet. And IIRC, the majority of the assholes from DotA went to HoN rather than LoL, so I actually found the community to be an upgrade.
I also found the game highly addictive, not sure why I stopped playing... I think EVE might have had something to do with that. Haven't played in a long time but last time I did, I found that my Veigar was still a fucking boss. Need to get back to that game... someday.

X was fine.
X-2 however.... *shudder*

Maybe we should set up a channel for people who play? May be an issue due to servers though. I can start up an Inspiracy group on EU West if anyone else plays there. My playing atm is like once in a blue moon though, so if someone more active wants to do it then be my guest.
-
I preferred STAR BATTLE on Starcraft 2.
-
Been playing League since just after beta, on both servers (didn't realise there was an EU one until after I'd signed up and got my US one to 30 :P). I do go in phases a little, but people can attest that if I haven't got in at least one match a day, I really must be busy with uni...
Re: the community... yes. It's full of assholes. Unfortunately, from what I hear, HoN and the original DOTA were far, far worse. I just sort of let it breeze past me. I am getting increasingly dissatisfied with solo queueing, though. Not having anyone to duo with, or a team, is somewhat frustrating, especially when you go on a losing streak.
I'm Basilisk9466 on both US and EUW, if anyone wants to prod me.
Oh, and DOTA2... I'll look at it when it comes out, but if it's anything close to HoN's cliff-like learning curve, I suspect I'll promptly give up on it. League's more casual approach suits me fine.
Oh, and Graelyn: Star Battle is awesome. It's consumed enough of my (admittedly not huge) time playing SC that I still haven't finished my placement matches. :P

I've played it a lot over the past year+ and for the most part enjoy it. I go through rage phases where I won't touch it though, and at this point unless I'm playing with at least 3 people it just isn't enjoyable, especially trying to do ranked.
I did get invited to the DotA 2 beta and have been playing a couple of games with it. Beta community might not be indicative of anything, but so far it's been pretty chill. Much harder than LoL in many ways, but I also opted to choose the "experienced" option on starting, which meant I didn't get any kind of tutorials or advice. If nothing else with good players it's actually possible to win 4v5s with leavers, even though Valve was smart and actually doesn't penalize you for abandoning the game if one team has a leaver (has to be gone for 5+ minutes straight). Haven't played it enough to really make a solid judgement yet, other than to say that I think it has potential.

I'm happy to know that no matter how much I game or play, I'll never ever have this happen to me, in LoL or any other game;
23 year old idiot died after 23 hour's of constant LoL gaming. (http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/technology/2012/02/03/man-dies-after-playing-league-of-legends-for-23-hours-115875-23733574/)
I should be sad for him. Instead, my darker than black humor made me laugh and giggle all through the article. Fucking moron. This is what happens when the word 'moderation' don't exist in one's vocabulary.
I'll get back in my lane...

After playing for quite some time, must be over six months, I'm still not 30 which shows how casual I am.
I like the game, the type is fun and I'm fond of it in all honesty. Most people populating it are walking adverts for post natal abortion and forced euthanasia through gassing.
So I play against the AI as most people running bot games leave their ego as there's no chestbeating to be had against something as incompetent as bots.

I've done long gaming sessions, and experienced no trouble, but then again I do take frequent rests, and I've taken to exercising (yay Fitocracy) and eating healthy. I think this scenario could have happened just as well to a couch potato. I wonder if the guy knew he had a heart condition or not. If a person doesn't know, and maintains an unhealthy lifestyle, it can sneak in on you. One reason why exercise and all is good, even if you think you are fine. Or you could get yourself screened I guess, but living unhealthy because you can socalled afford it will in the end still have bad results.

Just by generally walking a few hours a week will keep your heart in decent shape, its just this sedentary lifestyle of city people and lazy car people...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aUaInS6HIGo Here's a linky which you reminded me of.
Back on topic, there is now a channel called 'Inspiracy' on EU West for all you fine people to come and hang out in.
-
*bump* Inspiracy channel needs more folks. If you play, come hang out in it. No need to group if you care for your ranking, just chatting is fine. Have not played too much myself, but seen at least one of you in there already. We can do better \o/
