Right, back in July I proposed starting a Minecraft succession game - there was reasonable interest, then Real Life happened and it fell by the wayside. With Minecraft 1.0 out and a holiday weekend in the US approaching, I figure it's a good time to revive the idea.

A succession game is the Minecraft equivalent of a writer's round robin - one map is passed around a bunch of players and each person takes a turn playing it for a set amount of time. To add RP flavor, the map is given a theme and/or certain goals, and each person writes an in-character journal of their turn.

For now, post below if you're definitely interested in playing.  The rules follow below: up until the game start, they're open to adjustment based on feedback.

- Your turn is 7 in-game days long (sunrise to sunrise). You'll be forgiven for going a tad over or under but don't push it too far.
- You have 4 RL days to complete your turn and upload your save to a location TBD soon. Your turn may be forfeit if you don't play your turns in time, at the GM's (my) discretion. Ask for an extension or pass your turn if you know you're short on time; you'll be forgiven for uploading an incomplete turn as that's better than nothing. This does not include time to write journal entries, but journals should be finished very soon after.
- No mods, unless agreed on by all players.
- No cheats/external editors, on your honor. The GM may make exceptions in limited cases, including technical glitches and pre-seeding the map with goodies.
- No wanton vandalism. Respect both the environment and player's builds; improve on, don't destroy.
- Keep builds within reasonable distance of the spawn area; if you go exploring, keep a compass if possible, leave trail markers and try to be within range of home by the end of your turn.
- Stay thematically appropriate.  The theme will be a loose one, but save the sprite art, golden dongs, etc, for elsewhere.
