Incarna is actually considered a prototype, the rendering engine that will ship with the MMO will be much more advanced.
*snicker* Been saying this since day one :D

I've not been all that interested in WoD before now, but it sounds like CCP are focusing on RP which is a Good Thing. I may have to have a go :D

They're not going to let you grief.  :ugh:

I like the implications of Gallentians being punched in the face by walking up to a Minmatar as they so freely use another person's culture as a fad.

Griefing is an even bigger part of WoD than EVE, wtf? I mean, seriously, wtf?

That said, I am very very interested in this game.

Griefing in WoD is more on a social level. CCP is talking about griefing on a physical level. Time to get creative people.

No, when I say "social" I mean it in the sense that we can grief doing something like.....Socially engineering a series of staged PR crushing events and acts against a enemy players, wherein astrocizing them from their peers and or clan/community he operates in. Within the confines of RPing of course. Something like that

All that can be achieve without, beating, slashing, stabbing, using disciples and or diablerie. The wonderful thing about WoD, mainly the vampire setting is your closest allies are also your worst enemies.

So it's going to be a text-based RP game with pretty graphics instead of an IRC client?

I'm amused by the notion of them going for a LARPing style game with an emphasis on social mechanics.

In theory it sounds like a great creative tool for people to live in a fantasy roleplay game.

In practice I'm speculative how much of a foothold it will get outside of prior VTM fans.

Most likely not too much.

And that's how most of us will prefer it.

One of the strengths of the PnP RPG is malleability.

Anything can be adjusted to fit the situation and anything can be done.

In the example set out by Invelious a lot of adjustment would have to be done to the attitudes of a lot of NPCs and PCs.

I do not see that there is any way to create that kind of mechanic in a computer game, unless the game world itself would be adjustable by the players themselves, Vampire MUSHes have this capability but sometimes clashes occur when people 'godmode' something that could not happen and go overboard with their Mary Sueisms.

I do not see CCP creating something with this kind of option, unless its pay to adjust.

Social engineering of NPCs is something that is very hard to do.

CCP can't do it in EVE, how do you think they could accomplish that in WoD?

(if they are saying this, they are lying through their teeth.)
