Not really lacking confidence, only done PvP for like 6 months honestly. more so inexperienced.

You'll do fine.
EDIT for clarity:  You should have a good handle, after 6 months' pvp experience, of the different classes of ships and what their bonuses are.  Just make sure you're familiar with current metas is all.  No sweat.
