News:

that the Society for the Conservation of State Traditions is a fiercly nationalistic Caldari lobbyist organization that unleashed a scathing rebuke of PIE Inc. pilot Kostantin Mort in late YC106.

This would have happened regardless if they won or lost. Crazy Canadians all hopped up on maple syrup.

Pretty close to home for me. I really don't understand how their train of thought takes them from "our team lost" to "break store windows and burn things." Vancouver is such a chill city, full of stoners and brownie eating hippies, until angry hockey fans pour out of the stadium.

Actually, as the story said, most of the break ins and all that were done by a few individuals with financial motivations in mind, like stealing everything they could from the stores.

I was actually downtown at the time that all of this was going on, was very... interesting. Luckily I left just a 1/2 hour before they shut down the SkyTrains or I would have had to walk home which would have taken considerably longer.

I had a discussion with my friends in the past and I explained to them that during any public event, hostile or not, to avoid being troubled or attacked, just make out with someone. You will be left alone if your playing tonsil hockey with your partner.

..side note.....there is something hot and sexy about getting down and dirty during a riot like that. If the Maple Leafs ever make the finals I will so be in downtown Toronto making out with my GF during the riot.
