Why fiddle with an expensive mechanical hand when you can simply get the hand of a dead guy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JgaMZT1Z2dw&feature=player_embedded)?
Being a biomedical engineer myself and knowing the world of mechanical prosthetics, I chuckled a bit when he mentioned that the hand had three degrees of freedom.
