Antares Test Launch!

Orbital has launched its Antares rocket, which will eventually carry Cygnus into orbit, adding another vehicle for ISS resupply.

Antares is an amalgamation of various heritage rocket components, including 1960s Soviet-built surplus rocket engines upgraded by Aerojet.

Good stuff right there.  I am pretty excited to see more of this use of legacy components, as well as the proposed '3d printing experimental modules' that have been suggested as potential test beds on the ISS for in-space construction of the 'little things' (spare parts, tools etc) as a platform for development towards structural printing and construction as an end goal. 

Gotta burn the candle at both ends for space exploration, and the partnership between government institutions and private sector interest will produce some interesting legacy tech reuse and new innovation, I have no doubt.
