Title: Variations on a Theme by Ravede EnDama
Post by: Valdezi on 22 Apr 2011, 22:04
I posted this on the new forums, but it got nerfed. Here it is:

Variations on a Theme by Ravede EnDama
Mammal Tafren

Red sands slither over rock. You were once
by the sea, and wet winds blew in faces
staring up among the mesas. The sun
is pale and distant to you now.

                                               Traces
of a disintegrated us, shattered
like tiny glass spiders, we are brittle,
a thousand sand smiles, blankly scattered
like slivers in the dust, indifferent crystal.

Each new love is like this: Under the pull
of the moons, to sway, circled by warm arms.
And you know as you laugh that he is cruel,
the warrior, remote to your vile charms.

Each night I call out your name among stone.
The volcano answers, unmoved, alone.

And I replied on the new forums!  Also nerfed.

Thought this was fantastic.  I'm not sure if I'm supposed to interpret it as an expression of one person's sentiments to another or to take the pronouns as metaphors for larger forces, but most likely the beauty of the piece comes from that ambiguity.

I also wanted to chat about a bit of worldbuilding having to do with Yasur.  If I don't bring it up, pls remind me next time you see me in game.
