Title: The Hilaban Academy For Fine Young Amarrian Ladies
Post by: Louella Dougans on 02 Sep 2011, 12:51
Near the centre of the Tash-Murkon realm, Hilaban VIII is a barren world, with only a few surface settlements in domed communities.

It is also the site of a finishing school...

YC 104
Shuttle on approach to Hilaban Academy Landing Field

An orbital shuttle descends towards the planet, the passengers taking the opportunity to look out of the window. The passengers consist of several teenage girls and their anxious parents.

"So, this is where you will be attending school for a few years, Louella dear", said Kathryn to her daughter. "It is one of the best schools in the whole of Tash-Murkon space"
Louella scowled, "Pfft, I don't want to. Why can't I go to school at home?"

"Now now, less of that." replied Kathryn. "You can learn a great deal more here than you could at home. Self-reliance, meeting people from different backgrounds, this is a great opportunity for you."
Louella sulks and stares out the window. "meh"

Kathryn sighs quietly. "Why don't you introduce yourself to some of the other girls, hmm?"
Louella shrugs "Fine" and goes off to talk to one of the other girls.

"Hello, I'm Louella, what's your name?"
"Hmm? My name is Sehrazah"
"Pleased to meet you, Sehrazah. Have you ever been to this planet before? This is only like, my 3rd time in space, how about you?"
"Oh, umm, this is my first time in space. It's like, weird."
"Cool! So where are you from? My family is from Hilaban VI originally, though currently we live in Emrayur, cos of working for the Imperial Planetology Ministry and stuff."
"Umm, Tash-Murkon Prime. We have an estate there"
"super! so like, you're Family?"
"No, not Tash-Murkon Family" replies Sehrazah. "Those two over there are though. Not very high up, but still, like, you know."

Louella and Sehrazah look over at the two girls Sehrazah pointed out. They're dressed in clearly more expensive outfits, with ornate jewellery, and are complaining to their parents.
"Mother, there are Minmatar on this planet. Why are there Minmatar on this planet? I hate this planet." whines one, "Hush Zesia, it'll build character" . "Father, I want my miniature slavers, why can't I bring them?", "Reraha, you know they don't travel well, they would be unhappy" is the reply.

Louella and Sehrazah shrug and go back to looking out the window. The sole moon of the planet appears above the horizon. "look, a moon!" says Sehrazah "Cool, at least there's something to look at" says Louella.

The shuttle pilot's voice comes over the intercom, "Landing at Academy Field in ten minutes, please be seated".

"guess I'll see you later?" says Louella, returning to her seat. "Yeah, same" says Sehrazah.

The shuttle touches down, and the ground crew begin unloading the baggage and assisting the passengers to disembark.

The newest of the Fine Young Amarrian Ladies have arrived...

Academy Chapel

"Welcome ladies, to the Hilaban Academy" says the headmistress, addressing the gathered students.

"Here, you will learn all the skills and knowledge to be a capable Amarrian woman, such that you will be a credit to your family, to your Holders, to the Emperor and to God."

"You will learn a broad range of subjects, Art, History, Crafts, Etiquette, such that you are fully capable of performing any task you need to do to look after your family and estates."

The headmistress glares at a raised hand. "YES?"

Zesia pales slightly "umm, do we have to learn bricklaying? someone said we had to learn bricklaying. That's stuff for like, Minmatar and other low slaves, isn't it? why do we have to learn it?"

The headmistress gives Zesia a withering stare, making her cower slightly. "You will learn bricklaying, such that you can instruct your servants appropriately on your estates. You will learn how and why bricks are laid, and you will do some yourself, because it may be necessary, God forbid, but if there is a disaster, it will be up to you to rebuild society. From the ground up if needed. May the Saints preserve us from such a fate."

Sehrazah nudges Louella as they watch this. Louella suppresses a giggle.

"Miss Dougans, you have something to say?"

Louella blinks "umm, well, like, err, I was like, wondering if there'd be stuff like, umm, you know, if we have our own, like, rooms and stuff?"

"Yes, you have your own room. After we're finished here you will be shown to your room. We also have elocution lessons, to help you with that."

Louella turns a bit pink. Sehrazah mouths "sorry" and smiles.

"Are there any more questions, ladies? No? Good. You are dismissed." The headmistress leaves the chapel, and the other staff begin the process of organising the new students into their accommodation.

Good stuff!

Though, for a moment there, I thought you might be doing an EVE version of St Trinians.

Ah, a proper sort of finishing school. :)

Accommodation block

Louella looks around the room that was assigned to her. 5 metres to a side, with a walk-in wardrobe on one side and a bathroom at the other. A window looks out into the school grounds, over several open areas of grass, down to what looks like a lake.

Kathryn is unpacking some of Louella's baggage, "It's a nice view, Lou. Give you something pleasant to look at while doing your coursework"

"yeah, I guess." says Louella, prodding at the various cupboards to check how they open, wandering in to examine the contents of the bathroom "huh, Mum? there's three doors here, what's that about?"

"Hmm? Oh, it's probably shared with another students room, and the third door will be for the school staff to enter for cleaning and maintenance."

"Shared? So like there's someone on the other side?" asks Louella, knocking on the door.
"I would think so. It's an old building, Lou. Built when the planet was less developed. Shared facilities mean less water is tied up in pipes and such, and more is available for use. The doors will have latches on them."

"Oh, I guess" says Louella. "oh hello"
The door to the neighbouring room opens, and a quiet looking girl looks round "Hello?"
"Hi there, I'm Louella, it looks like I'm going to be your neighbour?"
"oh, um, hello, I'm um, Reraha." says the girl "Reraha Tash-Murkon"
"pleased to meet you. I think we were on the same shuttle down?"
"um, yes, that's right. I remember your face. Are your servants unpacking your stuff? Mine are, I'm keeping out their way."
"Oh, I didn't bring much stuff, Mum was helping me unpack it."

Reraha looks totally appalled. "Your mother is unpacking? You don't have servants?"
Louella blinks "umm, err, well, ummm, we didn't bring any on, like, the shuttle."
Reraha looks less appalled. "Oh, oh of course."
Louella smiles "Want to meet her? We can stay out of your servant's way that way"
Reraha "alright."

The two girls wander back through to Louella's room, where Kathryn has unpacked and put away Louella's stuff, and has made the bed.
"Oh Louella, there you are. Making friends?" asks Kathryn.
"Yes mum, this is Reraha. Reraha Tash-Murkon".
"Well, very nice to meet you Ms. Tash-Murkon."
"hello, Mrs... umm..." Reraha looks around, spots a name tag on Lou's stuff. "Dougans"

Kathryn smiles at the two girls. "You'll have a lot of fun here, I'm sure. Now my shuttle back up is leaving soon, so I'll have to be going. Now you're sure you have everything you'll need, Louella?"
"yes, mum."
"And you'll remember to eat properly?"
"yes, mum."
"And you'll be a good girl and stay out of trouble?"
"yes, mum."
"And you'll write regularl-"
"YES, mum!"
Kathryn hugs Louella tightly "I'll miss having you around, Lou-lou", "Have fun you girls", and then lets go, turning away to walk out the room, a small tear in her eye.
"Bye Mrs. Dougans. have a safe flight" says Reraha. "She seems nice, Louella".
"Yes, she is"

Louella sits on the bed, which is quite bouncy. "So, what stuff do you like? I like dancing and stuff"
"oh, umm, I like animals. I have these miniature slaver hounds at home, they're soo cute!" says Reraha
"Miniature slaver hounds? how big are they?"
"they're tiny, look, here's some pictures of mine", smiles Reraha, bringing out a couple small pictures of the dogs, which are tiny and fluffy
"cool, they're pretty small, how old are they?"
"Oh they're just pups just now, only about a year old"
"Do they get bigger?"
"A bit, they only grow to about this size" says Reraha, holding her arms about 2feet apart.
"ooh, still small dogs then, cool"
"Yah, They're fabulous", smiles Reraha.
"The big ones look scary, though they're supposed to be alright as pets."
"Yah, they have big teeth and stuff, ever seen one close up? I have, it was all "raarrrgh" and pretty smelly"
"ewww, smellydogs" says Louella, giggling.
Reraha giggles as well.
"Anyway, I'd better see if my stuffs all sorted now, Louella. Was nice meeting you and your mother"
"Alright, take care, and I'll see you at class".

Louella bounces up and down on the bed a few times going "whee", then sits by the window, watching the contrail showing the shuttle leaving the planet.

"bye mum", she whispers...

Dining room

After finishing unpacking, everyone heads to the dining room, for the evening meal.

Louella and Sehrazah wave as they spot each other.

"hi Sehrazah!"
"hi Louella"
"got your room all sorted?"
"Yah, how about you?"
"Totally, my neighbour's one of those Tash-Murkon girls. She's called Reraha. Seems nice"
"cool!"
"totally!"
"we should find our table, I think there's ones allocated for first years."
"great!"

The two girls enter the dining room and are shown to their table by one of the more senior girls. Also at the table are Reraha and Zesia and several other first years. Reraha smiles at Louella, who smiles back.

The headmistress rings a small bell to get everyone's attention:
"Welcome ladies, to this, the first evening dinner of the new year at the Academy for Fine Young Amarrian Ladies.
Many of you are returning for another year, for some this is your first. We welcome all of you.
In time, you will remember these as some of the best years of your life, though it may not seem like it at times. So remember to work hard, play hard,  stand with your fellow students in hardship, and in happiness, and you will turn out as a fine young Amarrian lady.
Now, let us give thanks to God for the meal we are about to eat"

Everyone bows their head, and the school chaplain recites a prayer:
"Lord, we give thanks for giving us both food, and the appetite to enjoy it, for giving us life and our purpose, and we will return these gifts by spreading your word across all the heavens. Amen"
Everyone says "Amen" and begins the meal.

Louella says "I saw on the like, schedule thingie, that we have like, Human biology first thing in the morning"
"Yeah", says Sehrazah "stuff about babies and things"
One of the other girls speaks up.
"I heard from one of the seniors, that they make you touch male slaves thingies, to get samples and stuff."
"Eeeeewww" says another girl. "that's gross!"
"Yah!" says the first girl. "And you have to measure female slaves whatnots, to see if they're pregnant and stuff"
"Eww"
Reraha speaks up "I don't think so, we're only like, first years anyways. That stuff'd be for the seniors"
"boys are smelly and icky anyway" says the first girl. "My name's Girned by the way"
"I saw some of the slaves doing it at home. It was funny looking" says the second one "I'm Akhtih"
"Yeah, but like, that's how we were all born too" says Reraha
Everyone at the table thinks for a second or two, before going "eeewww"

Louella tries to change the subject. "we have sports in the afternoon. think that'll have like, the things with pistol shooting?"
Zesia says "I think it's just gymnastics and stuff, I don't think they let the under 16s shoot."
Louella nods "probably, yeah. Should be good though, I like running and stuff".
Akhtih thinks for a moment "there was something about team sports. Stickball and stuff. does the school like, play against other schools?"
Sehrazah says "yeah, there's like, this cup competition with other schools, from all over the empire."
Reraha says "So like, if you're on the team, you get to travel and stuff?"
Sehrazah nods "totally. Would be fun, I think, see different worlds and stuff"
everyone nods in agreement.

After the meal, Louella and Reraha walk back to their rooms together.
"So how come you know so much about human biology?" asks Louella.
"Well, I like, don't really, but you know, the pets I mentioned? People are just the same, except different" says Reraha. "the man's bits fit into the womens bits, and it all works the same."
"So you don't think we have to prod at slave people? Cos that sounds a bit weird"
"Yeah, no, I think someone was teasing Girned."
"kind of a naughty thing to tease about though"
"Yeah, is a bit."
"I'm pretty tired" says Louella. "Going to head straight to bed, I think"
"Me as well. Sleep well"
"You too"

Louella types a few things into her journal before going to bed, falling asleep having weird dreams about the things she's heard today.

Louella's Journal

dear mum, we had our first food here at the academy, it was good. We had soup, then fish and vegetables, and then a trifle. the trifle was sticky and yummy.
People had heard weird things about the stuff we'll be learning, like how we'd have to touch male slave's thingies, but i think that's someone teasing us.
The bed is really bouncy and comfortable, and i think i'll sleep well.
love, Lou-lou

Biology classroom

Having got up and dressed and breakfasted without major incident, the girls are now attending their first classes.

"Good morning girls, welcome to Human biology, I'm Ms Nisouman and I will be your teacher for this class. This term we're going to be looking at the wonderful process that is reproduction. We will be looking at how the child develops and the process of giving birth, and much more. You'll enjoy it, as not only will this be useful for your later careers, but also for when you have children yourself."

"Excuse me, miss?" says a girl, raising her hand.

"Yes, miss... Tash-Murkon?" says the teacher, a cheery Udorian with long blonde hair, green eyes and tanned skin.

"Yeah, umm, well, when we're doing the thing where we have to collect stuff from the male slaves, can I have an Amarrian or Udorian one? I think I'm allergic to Minmatar" says Zesia.

The teacher blinks. "You want to be excused from what?"

Zesia looks confused. "Umm, when we have to touch their thingies to get the sperm samples?"

"Goodness, whatever made you think you'd have to do that?"

Zesia looks terribly embarrassed and mumbles "an older girl said we had to do it"

"Ahhh. Well, they were teasing you. We're not going to be touching thingies in this class."

A few of the other girls stifle a giggle. Zesia gives them a hard stare.

The next couple of hours pass quickly, Ms Nisouman enthusiastically explaining things, with the use of large anatomical models and holographic displays, with an occasional chorus of "eeeewww" from the class.

Playground

There's a short break before the next class, and Louella and the others are wandering around getting some fresh air.

Zesia looks unhappy. "I can't believe I like, fell for that, oh my god that was totally embarrassing."

Reraha gives Zesia a small hug. "It'll be alright"

"But I'm like, Tash-Murkon Family, everyone will point and laugh and stuff"

Louella says "everyone's done something silly at one point though"

Girned points at a slightly older girl on the other side of the playground "That's her! That's the one that said it!"

Everyone looks over. Zesia mutters "cow"

The girl sees Girned pointing, and walks over "Hello first years, how was your biology class. Amusing?" she says, with a smirk.

Zesia says "you're a cow"

the girl smirks "aww, did you ask about the thingies? was the slave-fondler embarrassed?"

Zesia says "i'm not a slave fondler!"

"Yes you are, you're Udorian"

Zesia goes "blaaaa!" and throws a punch at the older girl, who sidesteps and pushes Zesia to the ground.

Louella goes to help Zesia up "come on Zesia, she's not worth it".

The older girl smiles "aww, the Udorian has a little slave helper. Does she fondle you at bedtime?"

Louella looks annoyed "Away into the night, you. I'm True Amarr"

"Prove it" smirks the older girl.

"Alright then, how about... this!" says Louella, grabbing and pulling the older girls hair.

By this point a small group has gathered, and they start chanting "Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight!"

Louella, Zesia and the older girl, who has been joined by a friend start grappling and pulling hair and scratching. It is pretty brutal.

The headmistress appears on the scene. "ENOUGH!", she shouts, which causes everyone to freeze. "You two" she says, pointing at Louella and Zesia. "My office. NOW. The rest of you, get to your classes. And I'll deal with you two later", she says pointing at the two older girls.
Louella and Zesia straighten their clothes and head inside.

Office of the Headmistress

"Really now, girls? Brawling? Like a common slave?"

Louella and Zesia study the carpet of the office intently, while the Headmistress talks.

"This is not the sort of behaviour that is acceptable for a Fine Young Amarrian Lady, now is it?"

"no, miss" says Louella quietly. "no miss" repeats Zesia.

"I am disappointed in both of you. Very disappointed."

Zesia mumbles "sorry".

"Particularly in you, miss Tash-Murkon. What were you thinking?"

Zesia blinks, "umm, miss, umm, she like, told one of the other girls, that like, we had to touch male slaves like, things, to get stuff for like the class thing, in human biology stuff, and then made fun of us and stuff. Then she called us slave fondlers and stuff, so I hit her."

The headmistress frowns at this. "And you, miss Dougans? what do you have to say for yourself?"

Louella stares at the carpet and mumbles something.

"Speak up, miss Dougans"

"umm, like, miss, umm, I was helping Zesia, because umm, it says in the scriptures to stand with the faithful and stuff, which means to back up friends and stuff"

"I do know what the Scriptures say, miss Dougans. They also say to be respectful."

The headmistress sighs. "What am I to do with the two of you? Brawling, of all things. You have to be punished, naturally, we can't have girls running around causing mayhem."

Zesia and Louella stare at the carpet again.

"You will learn, I hope, in the etiquette classes about how you should have handled this. Impetuous brawling is not the answer. Think longer term in future, ladies.
In the meantime, I am issuing you with a punishment exercise. You will both write out a thousand times that you will not brawl like a common slave, and I mean write out, with pencil and paper.
As well as this, by the end of the week, I expect you both to have written a 1500 word essay on what you did wrong, and how you should have done things instead."

Zesia and Louella continue to examine the carpet.

"You are dismissed, return to your class"

Louella and Zesia stop examining the carpet and leave.

"thanks for sticking up for me, Louella", says Zesia
"no problem, hey, you're really Tash-Murkon family?"
"Yeah, a like, minor branch, You're True Amarr, not Udorian?"
"Yeah, I  thought you might have known? Mum says you can tell by looking?"
"I don't know about that, maybe we'll learn about it in biology"
"maybe, umm, what class is it we're supposed to be at?"
"umm, err, It looks like History?"
"oo, history, cool, guess we'd better head over there?"
"yeah"

The two girls go off to rejoin the rest of their group, in History class...
Title: Re: The Hilaban Academy For Fine Young Amarrian Ladies

History class

"And, after careful study of the Scriptures, the Empire constructed the first Righteous rocket ship that allowed the Empire to return to space and begin the Divine work of bringing the Words to all planets of all stars, as is Written.
Ahh, miss Tash-Murkon, miss Dougans, how good of you to join us", says the history teacher, a tall brunette Amarrian.

Zesia and Louella take their seats, looking slightly embarrassed.

"In your absence we were discussing the thing that has had the greatest influence on the Empire since the original Reclaiming, can you tell us what was?"

"Space travel!" says Zesia. "Indeed"

"And can you tell us why, miss Dougans?"

"umm, because of umm, I don't know, cos you can't ask the Apostles and stuff in space?"

"That's part of it, yes, but not all.
The reasons why space travel has had such a profound effect on the Empire are numerous.
Firstly, entering space means many things are revealed that were previously hidden. For example, the first Imperial spacemen to see Athra, the Mother World from space, had a profound realisation of how beautiful Gods Creation is. It is one thing to have lived on a planet all your life, but to see it from space for the very first time is a wondrous occasion!
Secondly, the settlement of the Throne Worlds, took place slowly, and with the communications that we had at the time, it meant the people were out of contact with the scholars on Athra, and so when they encountered something out of the ordinary, they had to interpret the Scriptures by themselves. Many great works were written by these settler theologians, you will learn about some of them later. For similar reasons, we had such things as Hedion University, which studied the Scriptures in a new environment, to gain better knowledge of Gods Creation as it applies to the new worlds.
Thirdly, the environment of space opened up many new ways for acts of Righteousness to be manifest. Numerous are the saints who explored new planets, opened up new stargates, devised new ways of doing things, in the new environment of space.
Fourthly, the expansion into new planets meant that a great many more Holders were needed, which was a profound change to society. Of course, these new Holderships would not be just given out to anyone, no, of course not. The prospective new Holders had to prove themselves worthy of such a responsibility, and this inspired a great wave of piousness, as the nature of a Holder's Duty was greatly expanded. As well as the existing duties to their slaves, their family, their superiors, the Emperor, the nature of the duty as a Chosen of God was greatly increased.
It was written, that the duty of the Chosen was to bring the message to every star and every planet, and to accomplish this, with the new worlds, it meant many more Amarrians were needed, and so the Holder families had more children than previously, which was a profound change to Athran society.
Eventually of course, the most righteous amongst the Udorians were also given Holder status, inspiring others as well.

Now, this is only the most cursory of examinations of the effect of space travel, and we will be examining the various factors in greater detail later."

Louella and the rest of the class listen attentively as the teacher speaks about the many things discovered in space by the earliest Amarrian explorers, the lesson goes on for a couple of hours.

"And that is all for now, next time we will begin to examine the first worlds that were conquered as part of the Reclaiming, and how the people there were introduced to Righteousness."

After class, everyone goes for lunch, which passes without controversy. Louella has sandwiches and fruit.

Sports class

Louella and the other girls arrive at the sports hall and take a look around.

"hey look at this, we get individual cubicles to change in, but the showers are all like, not individual"
"eww, you mean like, we're all in together, like you know? slaves? gross"
"that's like, against Scripture and stuff isn't it?"
"totally, it's like, unrighteous to be naked in public and stuff"
"yah but this is like, indoors so not public?"
"kind of, but like, we'd see each other?"
"dunno, I think I'm going to like, just use the showers in my own room"
"eww, smelly!"
"no you smell!"
"it's probably for when theres the outdoor sports, cos of mud and stuff"
"ew, mud. But like, its in a dome, so why'd there be mud? there's no rain, is there?"
"I think they said there's like, some artificial weather or something?"
"I don't want to get rained on and get muddy because of artificial weather, that's like, just silly"

While this conversation is going on, the girls change into their sports outfits - shorts & t-shirts.

The teacher, a red-haired Udorian woman with obvious muscles, arrives "Hello girls, all ready for some fun exercise? Superb! We're going to learn some skills today, for the game of stickball. Or as the Gallente call it, hockey."

Aktih puts up a hand "Miss? we don't have to play against Gallente do we? I heard they like, walk about naked and stuff?"

Miss Savan raises an eyebrow "Naked hockey? What a curious idea. Where do you girls get these ideas from?"

The rest of the class giggle a little, Miss Savan says "Alright girls, lets get you warmed up. Follow me"

Miss Savan leads the girls through some stretches and other warm-up exercises. "Now then, has anyone played stickball before?"
Some girls shake their heads, Girned and Sehrazah raise their hands. "Oh, you have? Excellent, come up here. Now then, we'll show the others some of the correct ways to pass the ball, alright?"

Girned and Sehrazah demonstrate the correct way to use the stick to pass and receive the ball. "Super! Now class, divide into pairs and try what you've just been shown, alright?"
"no no no, miss Tash-Murkon, don't swing the stick like that, you push the ball, don't smack it"
"Very good, miss Dougans, that's exactly what we want"
"use this side of the stick, not that one, using that side is a foul. Like this"

"Good work class, now then, we'll look at controlling the ball while running with it. What you'll do is control the ball around these cones until you reach the end, then you pass the ball back to the next girl, alright? Like this"
"Good control, a little faster though"
"Control the ball, that's it. Well done"

"Superb. Now, tackling. I'm going to run with the ball, and I want you to try and take the ball from me. Using the stick to trip an opponent is a foul, so I don't want you to be doing that. Alright, try it"
"Come on, you can do better than that"
"Again, try again"
Louella runs up beside Miss Savan and shoulder charges her in the ribs, while pushing her stick between Miss Savan's and the ball, to flick it away.
"Shoulder-charging is a foul, Miss Dougans, in traditional Amarr ladies stickball. Physical contact is only allowed in Udorian-rules stickball"

"Alright now, that's the basic skills covered. Now we'll put you into teams, for a little practice game, alright?"

Sehrazah and Girned are chosen by Miss Savan as the captains for the two teams, and they pick from the other girls.

"Excellent, ladies, that's it, keep the ball under control, good tackle, keep the pace up, excellent"
The practice game ends up a draw, 4 each.

"Well, that was some superb work this afternoon ladies, some of you may eventually want to play for the Academy in the inter-school competitions!"
"You get to travel and stuff, to play stickball, Miss?"
"That's right! There's the constellation competitions, the regionals, even the Empire wide ones! The Cup final is held in Dam-Torsad itself!"
The girls look impressed at this concept.

"Now, remember to wash up before changing, cleanliness is Important for a fine young Amarrian lady, and I'll see you next time"
The girls head back to the changing room.

"I still don't like these shower thingies"
"but we're all sticky and stuff, it's gross"
"still unrighteous I think, eww"
Zesia stands up. "Well, I'm going to, like, lead by example, cos I'm a fine young Amarrian lady and stuff", which causes a giggle from some of the others, and goes into the shower.

The rest eventually follow, some shyly, and after the inevitable silliness of prodding and splashing each other, the girls end up back in the changing room, now all washed, and put their normal clothes back on.

"Wow, that's almost dinner time now, we'd better head over there"
"yeah, wonder what it is this time"

After a brief sermon by the headmistress about proper Amarrian manners, especially concerning the use of the correct spoons, dinner is served, consisting of pasta tubes stuffed with vegetables, followed by cheesecake.

After dinner, most of the girls head off to their individual rooms. Zesia and Louella however, go to the library to write out the punishment exercise they were given earlier in the day.

"whew, glad that's done, Louella"
"Yeah, hope we don't get in trouble again"
"Me too"
"I liked the stickball today, think I'll try out for the team, how about you?"
"Totally, it'd be fun to see other planets and stuff, I think"

Louella's Journal

dear mum, today was first lessons, we had biology, and it was all eww, cos it was about babies and stuff, and there were diagrams. I got into a fight, but it was alright. Then we played stickball, and I scored a goal. We had cheesecake it was yummy.

Art Class

The next morning, Louella and her classmates have Art first thing.

"Hello class, I'm Ms. Kieram", says the teacher, a purple-haired dark-skinned Udorian woman, wearing lots of bangles and earrings. "We're going to learn about art, and some crafts too, clayworking and jewellerywork and much more. You'll enjoy it." she says, gesturing broadly, causing the bangles to jingle and chime with each movement.

Aktih raises a hand "Miss? is umm, that your normal hair colour?"
Ms. Kieram laughs pleasantly "The purple? No, it is from hair dye"
Aktih says "Oh. Cool"

Ms. Kieram smiles "Alright, now we'll start with painting. I would like for all of you to paint a picture of your favourite passage from the Scriptures. Put on an apron to keep paint splashes off yourself, and I'll hand out the paint and brushes."

After a short while, Louella paints this:
(http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a231/bertcom1/th_garumzakarabeast.png) (http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a231/bertcom1/garumzakarabeast.png)

Ms. Kieram studies the artworks that the girls have produced.
"That's a very dynamic pose you've given the figure there, Zesia, very striking"
"Interesting choice of passage, Reraha"
"That's, well... that is certainly a beast, Louella"

The class admire each others work and the finished paintings are hung up to dry.

"Now, we'll all have a go at making some clayworks" say Ms Kieram. "I'll show you how a pottery wheel works, and we'll make some simple jars. You can use them for flowers for your rooms, or as a desk tidy."

Ms Kieram sets up a pottery wheel, and begins working the clay into a shape. "You have to be quite firm with the clay, really work your fingers to make it take shape"

Sehrazah and Girned whisper to each other as they watch Ms Kieram's hands work the clay. Sehrazah snorts as she stifles a giggle.

Ms. Kieram smiles at them. "Yes, it does look a bit like that, doesn't it, girls?" which causes the rest of the class to giggle as well, as they watch her sculpt the clay into a tall thin vase.

"Once we have the shape we want, we set the finished piece aside for firing in the kiln later. Now we'll all have a go"

Blobs of clay and pottery wheels are distributed amongst the class, and Ms. Kieram supervises the efforts the girls make.

"Stop the wheel, Sehrazah, it's unbalanc- Oh."
"Aargh!" says Louella as a blob of clay shoots off the wheel and whacks her in the stomach. "Ow!"
"omg, are you alright Lou?"
"I'm fine"

The rest of the lesson passes with less chaos.

Modern Studies

"Hello again ladies", says Ms. Tamarom, the history teacher. "Today, instead of early Amarr history, we will be looking at more recent events, and how they have shaped the world."

"Now, who can tell me about the Minmatar Rebellion, hmm?"

"Miss? That was when those like, unrighteous Jovians and the immoral Gallente did stuff to make the Minmatar rebel."

"Yes, Girned. I was hoping for a bit more detail, anyone else?"

"Miss? My grandad was in the fighting in the rebellion" says Louella. "He said the fuzzy-wuzzies didn't like the taste of fine Amarrian steel".

"Is that so, Miss Dougans? And what else did your grandfather say?"

"Oh, he said lots, it was all stories about stuff like fighting on the planets and stuff cos he was in the infantry. Udorian Highland Light Infantry"

"my grandad was also in the Oolies" says Sehrazah. "cool" says Louella.
"Our grandad was in the Navy" says Zesia, Reraha nods in agreement.

"That's great, girls. Perhaps you would like to ask your relatives if they would like to visit and share some of their stories sometime, hmm?"

"Now then, the background to the Minmatar Rebellion was as follows..." Ms. Tamarom lectures the class for the next hours about the background, including the interference from the Jovians and the Gallente.

Lunch

"so how come your grandad was in the UHLI, Louella, if he's True Amarr?" asks Sehrazah.
"dunno, I think officers get assigned to all sorts of different regiments, maybe?"
"could be, never really thought about that sort of thing."
"me neither, hey, does this mean you're Udorian?"
"Yeah, haven't I said so?"
"dunno? how can you tell anyway?"
"not sure, maybe we can ask one of the teachers about it. Miss Nisouman probably knows, cos she's the biology teacher."
"cool, we can ask her"

Technological Studies

After lunch, Lou and the rest of her class wander over to the workshops for Tech. Studies.

"Aha, welcome ladies, I am Mr. Gorouyar" says the teacher, a short Udorian man with a gold tooth and a moustache. "Welcome to learning about technology. Is miss Tash-Murkon here?"

Zesia raises a hand "me?"

The Tech teacher smiles, showing his gold teeth "Welcome! I understand you will be becoming a skilled bricklayer? Excellent!"

Zesia blushes.

"Indeed, for it is a worthy occupation. Consider the construction of many of the cathedrals on the Throne Worlds, fine brick buildings they are."

"Now then, ladies, we shall start at the beginning. Foundations! They are naturally, the most important part of a building, yes? All things require a solid base, not just buildings, but also theological arguments. A house of argument built upon the sand of doubt falls over in the wind of Questioning."

Mr. Gorouyar leads the class outside, where a hole has been dug. "Now then ladies, here is a hole. We shall fill this with concrete, to provide a foundation for a new building for the school. Now then, see how deep the hole is? why do you think the hole is so large? would not a smaller foundation be more suitable?"

Girned raises a hand "umm, isn't it because a big deep hole means the foundation has a lot of mass and then won't move at all?"

The teacher smiles. "Perhaps. The answer is of course in Scripture, as all truths are. As homework, you shall find the relevant articles and study them carefully."

"Now then ladies, let us consider the concrete we shall be using. There are several parts to concrete, aggregates, sand, cement and water, just as there are several parts to Amarr society, Holders, commoners, serfs and yet together, they form a strong whole."

"So now ladies, let us mix the concrete. I shall operate this rotating drum, and you will put in the ingredients and observe how they affect the mix. We shall start with one part each."

Louella, Sehrazah and Aktih put cement, sand and aggregate into the drum. Reraha pours in some water.

"Very good ladies, see the colour and consistency of the mixture? Now, add another bag of sand, and see how the mixture changes?" The class observe these experiments, and eventually the drum is full. "Now, we shall pour the cement into the foundation", says Mr. Gorouyar. "See how it flows? There are many forms of concrete, all with different characteristics, you will study these and apply them to your estates when you are older."

"Now, we shall let this foundation set for a few days, before building upon it. Then comes the fun part, particularly for you, miss Zesia".

Zesia blushes again.

Mr. Gorouyar directs the class over to another foundation that is already completed, where there is a large stack of bricks and some mortar. "So then ladies, we shall construct a wall here. But where? First we must be sure the wall is begun in the correct place, and runs in the correct direction. This wall, has already been marked out, but when you build your own walls, you will have to plan things carefully, as indeed all things are planned, for careful thought is the Amarr way. We have a peg, and the string, to guide the bricklaying, as the Scripture guides the faithful."

Mr. Gorouyar lays the first bricks at both ends of the wall. "Now then ladies, having observed these few bricks, you will now continue. One group at this end, the others at that end. Let us proceed!"

"these bricks are heavy" says Sehrazah
"yeah" says Louella "building stuff is going to take a while"
"Our wall is going to be better than the other one" says Zesia.
"Oh, going to become a master bricklayer?" says Sehrazah
Zesia giggles "you bet!" placing a brick down firmly "more mortar!"
Lou giggles "alrighty!" and puts more mortar down for Zesia, who begins laying bricks at a furious pace.

"Ahh, miss Tash-Murkon, such enthusiasm!" remarks the teacher, which causes Zesia to blush again.

After a while, the wall is completed, and the girls look over their work.

"Very good ladies, very good indeed, a most solid and righteous wall, upright and true. Now, wash up carefully, and we shall consult the Scriptures for the rest of the lesson."

The girls wash off all the dust they've accumulated, and Mr. Gorouyar talks to them about the various proverbs, metaphors and discussions in the Scriptures relating to construction.

Louella's Journal

Dear mum, today we had art, I made a flower holder thing, and painted Zakara, Garum and the beast. We also looked at the fuzzy wuzzy war which Grandad was in. Then we built a brick wall. it was fun. Zesia says she might want to build a brick cathedral on her estate when she's older and married and stuff.

Human Biology

The class is studying genetics, and how genes are inherited.

"Miss? how do you like, tell the difference between Udorians and True Amarr?" asks Sehrazah.

Ms. Nisouman blinks. "Oh. Well, there's a few subtle differences. Mostly to do with skin colouration and so on."

"Like what? Udorians have different skin colours?" asks Louella. "Sehrazah looks same colour as me?"

"Yes. Here, look at this." Ms. Nisouman presses some buttons on the remote control for the classroom display panel. "Here you can see the differences between a True Amarr and an Udorian".

The class look at the display, dumbfounded.

"omg" says Zesia. "wow" says Reraha. Louella stares at the diagrams.

"So like, you can only tell the difference really when they're naked?" asks Sehrazah.

"That's correct, Sehrazah" says Ms. Nisouman. "There are a few exceptions, of course, where the ancestry is mixed, which makes it difficult to tell except through DNA analysis. Otherwise, yes, you can see the difference between the two"

The class stare at the diagram for a bit longer.

"Now then class, next week will be the start of your project for this year. You'll be in groups, and you will be looking after a female slave. You're going to choose a suitable mate for her, and look after her through pregnancy. So we'll continue looking at genetics so you understand how to select mates for your slaves."

"Miss, can I get a non-Minmatar slave? I'm allergic"

Social Studies and Etiquette

"Hello class, I will be teaching you all a fine young lady needs to know about society and etiquette", says Ms. Gimela, a tall, grey-haired Amarrian. "You will learn all about such things as posture, table manners, how to address others, public speaking and much more. We will also look at politics and card games, as a lady should be able to converse and advise her husband on all sorts of issues."

The class look somewhat bored with this prospect.

"We shall start today with some lessons about posture. Ms. Dougans, is that a ladylike manner to sit on that chair, hmm? Stand up. Now then class, see how Ms. Dougans stood up? was she graceful? Or did she flail around like a doll, hmm? All of you, pay attention, this is how you sit on a chair. Knees together. Now all of you, do the same. Good, good. Posture is very important, particularly when we move on to the social dancing lessons, where towards the end of the year, we will have visitors from the boys school for dance lessons."

"Settle down, class, settle down, it's not till the end of the year, no need for this outburst of exuberance".

Sports

"Hello class" says Miss Savan. "Ready for more fun exercise? It is athletics today. So let's warm up, and we'll go for a run. Come on."

Louella's Journal

Dear mum, today we had biology, etiquette and sports. I learned how to spot a Udorian, by the colour of their wigglies and nipples and stuff. Then we learned about the right fork to use at table, cos of things like what happened with Lady Phanca and all that. Then we had running in the afternoon.
for Biology, we're going to be looking after a slave while they're pregnant and stuff, I think it might be interesting and stuff, cos we get to choose a mate for them.

Tech Studies

"Today, class, we will begin looking at materials science. As it is Written: God gave everything Purpose. Accordingly, different materials are suited to different applications."

"Sir? why do we have to know this? we're like, not spaceship designers or something?" asks Akhtih.

"Well, that is a good question, and it deserves a good answer. The reason you need to know things like this, is so that you have the knowledge to know what is, and what is not possible, so that you may issue instructions to your freemen tradesmen and your servants. It would be embarrassing for you to ask them to do something impossible. You would reveal yourself as not knowledgeable, and your people would find that embarrassing, as if you addressed them in the nude. They would not know where to look. And if you are insistent on attempting the impossible, then your people will fail their assigned tasks, which would upset them greatly, as it meant they were unable to fulfil their mistresses orders. Avoiding this sort of awkwardness is why you need to know these things."

The class listens attentively.

"Now, let us consider polymers. As you know, it is Written: 'Surround yourself with the faithful, stand together, for there is no strength like it under the heavens.' and when we examine polymers, we can see the individual molecules standing together, and the process of polymerisation gives the material strength."

The class watch the three-dimensional images of molecules undergoing polymerisation. "Cool" says Louella.

Maths

"Mathematics is one of the means by which the workings of Gods creation are revealed" says the teacher, a young Amarr woman by the name of Dr. Chebha.

"How's that, miss?" asks Zesia.

"Mathematics describes all things, Zesia, and how they are connected to each other. It has many practical applications for your estates. Predictions of orbits of objects, analysis of weather patterns, many, many things are possible using mathematics."

"oh, sounds useful" says Reraha.

Some time later...

"maths is hard" says Girned.

Modern Studies

The class continue to look at the Minmatar rebellion, and the interference by Gallente and Jovian forces.

"Gallente ships look like wigglies" says Louella.

"Language, Ms. Dougans, we don't say 'wigglies' here. We say 'lady-pleaser' or 'man-spear', not *cough* 'wigglies' " says Ms. Tamarom, smiling. The rest of the class giggle a bit.

Louella's room

Louella is brushing her teeth in the bathroom, when Reraha opens her door.

"Oh, sorry, didn't know you were in here"
"that's ok, Reraha, I was just finishing"
"oh, ok, thought I would have a bath, I feel tired and stuff"
"Yeah, me too. It's a lot of stuff we have to learn about, didn't know there was this much."
"I know! hey, is that a bruise?"
"Yeah, that was from the other day, a blob of clay hit me in art class, was really sore"
"ouch, looks it. I have some soothing cream somewhere if you like?"
"cool, that'd be great. Hey, want me to help wash your hair?"
Reraha smiles "that'd be great, thanks!"
Louella runs a bath, while Reraha finds the soothing stuff, then helps Reraha wash her hair.
"your bubble bath looks fun, Reraha"
"yeah, it's special bubbly stuff from one of our estates in Tash Murkon Prime, it's supposed to be expensive and stuff, smells nice and is really good for your skin and things."
"cool"
"now, avert your gaze" says Reraha, giggling. "Zesia says we have to learn words like that, for instructing people and stuff."
"Oh, I'm a servant now, am I?" grins Louella. "we'll see about that!" she laughs, splashing Reraha.
"eeep!" says Reraha, splashing back.
"anyway, I can't be a servant, I'm a True Amarr, look!" says Louella.
"hehee, so you are. Miss Nisouman was right, they are different colours. That's like, weird, isn't it?"
"Totally, wonder how that happened anyways"
"yeah, we'll probably find out later in the class. could you hand me a towel? I think i should get out before getting all wrinkly"
Louella hands Reraha a towel, "here you go."
"Good night, Louella"
"sleep well, Reraha"

Then we had maths. There were equations.

Art

"Hello class, how are you all today?" asks Ms. Kieram. "The clay vases we made last time have been fired, and now we can paint some designs on them, and then glaze them. Have a think about what you want to paint on them, and I'll show you the process involved."

Louella chooses a religious symbol. Others choose their family logo, such as Reraha and Zesia who put the Tash-Murkon symbol on theirs.

Church

The girls gather in the school chapel, for a service, which includes a prayer, sermon, and several hymns. The school chaplain is a red-haired Amarrian woman, Ms. Ozuden.

Scripture and Literature

Ms. Ozuden also teaches about Scripture and Literature.

"Now girls, the language of the Scriptures is a wondrous thing. The oldest were written in a language that is no longer in common use, yet the meanings remain the same. When reading the older books, you must remember this. Read it, then read it again, then think, then read it again. Your ancestors understood the Scriptures, and so will you. Put yourself in the place of your ancestors, and understanding will be yours."

"Miss? you mean like, the metaphors and stuff?" asks Sehrazah.

"Yes, Sehrazah. A metaphor gains more power when you think and understand the context of the metaphor. Some of you will be from desert worlds, others will be from more maritime environments. Think about these things when reading Scripture."

After class, Louella and Zesia hand in their essays about what they did wrong, to the Headmistress, who frowns at them slightly.

Day Off

After getting up and breakfasted, Louella takes a wander towards the Academy gate. She's wearing knee length socks, a knee length skirt, t-shirt, and wooly cardigan, and has a shoulder bag.

"Miss Dougans, where do you think you are going?"
"Oh, umm, hello Headmistress, I umm, was going to wander round town, look at things?"
"Juniors are not allowed into town on their own, Miss Dougans. There are Rules. You must have a chaperone."
"Oh, umm, where can I get one?"
"Wait here, I'll have one sent out to you."
The Headmistress walks off, and Louella stands waiting for a few minutes, humming.

"do doo dooo, dah dee dahh, do de dee dah"
"Miss Dougans?"
"oh hello?"
A tall Udorian man appears, wearing a formal outfit with the school logo on it. He is somewhere over 6ft tall, and muscular, as if he is a soldier or policeman.
"I am your assigned chaperone for today, Miss Dougans."
"oh, you can call me Louella"
"Miss Louella"
"super, what's your name?"
"If it pleases you, Miss Louella, my name is Jalar"
"That's a nice name, Jalar. Anyways, I was going to wander round town."
"Very good, Miss Louella."
"alrighty" Louella takes Jalar's hand and starts wandering out the gate. Jalar looks surprised for a moment, then follows.

"It's a nice day today, isn't it Jalar? Though, I guess, since we're in a domed city, it'd be a nice day every day?"
"Indeed, Miss Louella"
"Means there's not going to be surprise rain and stuff, doesn't it? Hey, do they make it rain every so often, for plants and stuff? That would be nice, hey you could make it rain during the night, when everyone's asleep and stuff, then that's like, more convenient and stuff, isn't it Jalar?"
"Quite so, Miss Louella"
"I visited a watery planet this one time in Emrayur, Emrayur five it was, but I was on holiday there, and it was like, raining all the time, it was a bit funny. But it was like, nice and warm though, which was nice. and like, Mum said rain isn't too big a problem if it's warm, because your skins waterproof and stuff? It was sort of sunny sometimes though, and I got a bit of a suntan, you know? I think lots of people go there on holiday, on the cruise ship things they have. It's quite expensive, I think. And there's stuff like, boats and there's fish and things, it's quite nice. I just went swimming though. We had a private boat too, so it was just us, which was nice. But it rained almost every day, so I had to wear swimming costume all the time, otherwise I'd just have got wet, you know?"
"Indeed, Miss Louella"
"ooh, there's a lollipop stand, I wonder what flavours they have, do you like lollipops? I like them, the fruit ones."

Louella gets a coin from her bag, and purchases two lollipops. "Here, Jalar, one for you, and one for me."
"Very good, Miss Louella"

The two continue to walk through town, now with lollipops.

Day Off

Louella and Jalar wander through an area of parkland, there are a number other people wandering around, walking their pets, and feeding the ducks on a duck pond. Here and there are various statues depicting saints, Emperors, theologians, admirals and generals, and other notable people from history.

"it's nice here, isn't it, Jalar? the trees are pretty. Next time, I think I'll bring some food for the ducks, they're funny aren't they? The statues must be quite old, I think? I wonder if some of them are imported ones, cos they look really old? Like maybe from Athra or something?"
"Indeed, Miss Louella"
"hey, what's that over there?" Louella points at a handful of short pedestals, each of which have a person standing on them, and groups of people standing around, watching the ones on the pedestals.
Jalar looks over. "Ah, that is the Preaching Corner, Miss Louella."
"Oh? what's that?"
"At the Preaching Corner, Miss Louella, people discuss Scripture"
"Ooh, can we take a look? that sounds interesting"

"...and at the End Times, the Lord shall Punish the sinners. All of them, with a 9-bladed sword. Not 2, or 5, or 7, but 9. Nine bladed sword..."
"...for it is Written that those who Embrace will be saved, while those who Reject are cast out..."
"...Saint Ageroth said happiness comes from what you hold in your heart, not your hand. Realise and be Joyful..."

"they're quite passionate, aren't they, Jalar?"
"Indeed, Miss Louella"
Louella politely applauds when the different speakers finish, as do the other members of the crowd, except for two Khanid women standing towards the back, dressed in dark colours with a subtle Theology Council button on the collars of their jackets. The Khanid women look disinterested, occasionally bored.

Louella and Jalar continue walking through the parkland.
"hey, there's a sandwich stall, lets get something to eat. What do you like, Jalar? Is a cheese roll alright? I like cheese rolls, I once had one that had four different kinds of cheese, isn't that something?"
"Quite, Miss Louella"
Louella purchases two cheese rolls from the sandwich seller, and Louella and Jalar walk on to find a bench to have their lunch on.

"How old are you Jalar? I'm 12, nearly 13."
"I was born 37 years ago, Miss Louella."
"oh, that means you're the same age as Mum. That's nice. I got Mum a nice necklace for her birthday last time, she really liked it."
"Indeed, Miss Louella"
"These cheese rolls are nice, aren't they? I heard that you can tell what planet a cheese comes from, or something, like some planets specialise in certain kinds of cheese and things. There'd be a lot of kinds of cheese though, wouldn't there? Because the Empire has so many planets and stuff, I wonder if you'd actually be able to taste every variety of cheese, seems like there'd be a lot, don't you think?"
"Quite, Miss Louella"

Louella and Jalar continue to walk, leaving the park, and entering the town centre, where there are many shops and businesses.
"I like shopping, and window-shopping, looking at what sort of clothes people wear and things, you know?"
"Indeed, Miss Louella"
"That's a lovely dress in that shop there, look, that embroidery is super, must have taken the dressmaker a while to make that, look how intricate it is."
"Quite so, Miss Louella"

They continue through the town centre, reaching a market square with numerous stalls of small traders and craftspeople selling their wares. There is a church at one side of the square, also with some stalls in the grounds.
"Ooh, there's some interesting things here, Jalar, look at this jewellery and things. Hey, what's that church?"
"It is the church of Saint Tal-Romon, Miss Louella."
"oh? Tal-Romon, oh hey, he's the Udorian saint, isn't he? Let's go take a look"
Louella and Jalar enter the church grounds, where there is some kind of event going on.

"Hello young miss, would you like a raffle ticket?" asks an old Amarrian man, with grey hair.
"ooh, a raffle, what's it for?"
"We are raising funds for expansion of the church orphanage."
"super! I'll buy a ticket" says Louella, handing over some coins.
"Thank you, young miss, may Saint Tal-Romon bless you", says the man.

Louella wanders around the stalls, which are selling a variety of things including home baking, Scripture-inscribed handiworks, and much more.
"this is interesting, isn't it, Jalar?"
"Quite, Miss Louella"
"They make some fabulous things, and it's for a good cause, isn't it? oo, look at those cakes, they look yummy, how much are they? Oh? is that all? wow, that's less than I thought. Yes, I'll have one, and one for Jalar here. Thank you. mmm, these are really yummy, aren't they, Jalar?"
"Indeed, Miss Louella"
"Oh hey, isn't that Miss Nisouman over there?"

Louella points at a tanned Udorian woman with long blonde hair, it is Miss Nisouman.
"Miss Nisouman? hi!"
"Oh my, hello Louella, how are you? Hello Jalar"
"I'm doing great, we did lots of interesting stuff today, Jalar and I had lollipops and went to the park to listen to the preacher people, and there were ducks, and we had a cheese roll, then we looked at the shops. Do you know Jalar well? He's super, I like him, he's a really great conversationalist and stuff."
Miss Nisouman raises an eyebrow, "Is that so?". Jalar looks mildly embarrassed at being described as such.
Louella nods "I bought a ticket for the raffle today, Miss Nisouman, cos they're building a new thing for the orphanage, isn't that a great idea?"
"Yes, Louella, it is. Do you know much about the Saint?"
"Umm, I know they're the patron saint of travellers and stuff, and the first Udorian saint and so on, but haven't really covered much, I guess we'll learn more about them later, in history class"
"I'm sure you will, Louella." Miss Nisouman looks at her watch. "Oh, the raffle prizes will be announced shortly"
"super, did you enter as well?"
"I did indeed, there were some lovely prizes."

The three walk over to stand in front of a podium where the priest of the church is announcing the prizes.
"Next prize is this golden necklace donated by the Friends of Tal-Romon, the winning raffle ticket is..."
The priest pulls a number from a hat
"Number 173. Who has ticket 173?"
A young Udorian woman waves her hand "I have it!" The crowd applaud.
The prize announcement goes on for a while. Miss Nisouman won a bronze bracelet and a bottle of Chanounian wine.
"And finally, the grand prize, this lovely young Udorian, donated by Lord Komal", says the priest, as a blonde woman is led onto the podium. She has long blonde hair, dark green eyes, and is naked except for shoes and a belt around her waist, with a string on it.
"The winner is, number 689. Who has ticket 689?"
Louella looks at the number on her ticket. It is 689.
"umm, I do" says Louella. The crowd applaud.
"The young lady wins the prize!" says the priest. "Congratulations, come and claim your prize. Thank all who entered the raffle, may the Saint bless you"

Louella holds the string that the Udorian woman is on the other end of. "Umm, hi" says Louella. "What's your name?"
"My name is Hazli, mistress", says the woman.
"Hi Hazli, I'm Louella"
"Yes mistress"
"Umm, ok, err, umm. Hmm. How old are you? I'm 12."
"I am 21, mistress"
"Ok, umm, lets buy you some clothes and stuff, I think, you must be a bit cold and stuff"

"Quite a prize you won, Louella" says Miss Nisouman.
"yeah, umm, does she stay in my room?"
"Oh, juniors aren't allowed slaves in their own rooms, she'd have to stay in the school's staff quarters"
"Oh, ok. I'm going to go shopping for Hazli, would you like to come along, Miss Nisouman?"
Miss Nisouman smiles. "I'm sure that would be enjoyable".

The four of them wander out of the church grounds, into the market square.
"ooh, here's a nice dress, won't that look good on you, Hazli?"
"It is a nice colour, mistress"
"oh, you can call me Louella. What do you think, Jalar? won't this dress look good on Hazli?"
"Indeed, Miss Louella"
"Alright then, I'll buy it." says Louella, purchasing it from the stallkeeper. "There you go, Hazli, you can put the dress on now, and you'll be warmer and more comfortable and stuff now."
"Thank you mistress Louella."

Miss Nisouman is consulting her data device. "Hmm, Louella?"
"Yes miss?"
"It appears that one of the slaves we were going to have your class learn about breeding with has fallen ill, with the Debylian flu. Would you like to use Hazli in your lesson instead? it would be a big favour to the school"
"umm, if Hazli agrees, sure? what do you think, Hazli? do you want to help out?"
"Yes mistress Louella"
"Ok, miss Nisouman, Hazli says yes"
"That's great, I'll see you both in class tomorrow then. I have some other things I need to do now, so you have fun with the rest of your day."
"Bye miss Nisouman"

Louella, Hazli and Jalar continue to wander around the market, Louella purchases some more clothes for Hazli, and also buys Jalar a hat.
"You look great in that hat, Jalar, doesn't he Hazli?"
"Yes, he does, mistress Louella"
Jalar's expression is unreadable.

The three enter a restaurant, where Louella buys soup and sandwich for all of them, before they walk back to the Academy.

"I enjoyed today, Jalar, did you?"
"Indeed, Miss Louella"
"well, I have to go, can you look after Hazli and show her where her room is and stuff?"
"Yes, Miss Louella"
"Alright, you two enjoy yourselves." says Louella, smiling at the two of them, before heading back to her room.

Louella's Journal

Dear mum, I went into town today, you have to have a man chaperoning you unless you're a senior, the man was called Jalar and he was really nice and knows lots of really interesting stuff, there was a lovely park, and there were people talking scripture in it, there were lots of interesting shops, I won a slave in a raffle at a church thing, her name is Hazli and she's really pretty and stuff, and she's going to be helping me with some schoolwork next week, and I think it will be good.
Love, Lou-lou

Wow, Louella is an incredible optimistic child. Bordering to the naive, but I guess she maybe does not understand fully what "human reproduction" entitles.

heh, Lou understands that "human reproduction" consists of "wigglies and eww" but can also be fun :)

also, what do you think of the belt that Hazli was wearing? I thought the collar was a bit over-used in things, so felt like something different.

For me it seems like the giving away of a slave as first price contained a few elements outside of normal slave trade practice to symbolize that this price is special. Sort of the same way a wrapped a gift is bit more special than just getting handed an item.

Human Biology

"Good morning class" says Miss Nisouman, "Today we'll be dividing you into groups, and assigning you a female slave for your coursework. You'll be given the slave's medical record, and the records of several potential mates, and I want you to choose one, and be able to justify your choice, alright? "

The class are given their group assignments. Louella has Reraha and Sehrazah in her group.
"Hi Louella, how's things?" asks Sehrazah
"Alright, I went into town yesterday, was fun, how about you?"
"oh, I was in the library mostly" says Reraha
"I got a package from home, some books and things" says Sehrazah
"Ooh, sounds nice" says Louella
"Louella, do you know what kind of slave we have to do stuff with?" asks Reraha
"Umm, we'll be using this girl called Hazli, I won her in a church raffle yesterday, she's really pretty and stuff, she's Udorian and has lovely hair and eyes"
"huh? why's that?" asks Sehrazah
"an Udorian? cool!" says Reraha
"Miss Nisouman said they needed an extra one because of stuff, and since I just won her, than it was like, totally convenient, you know?"
"wow, that was lucky"
"Yeah, hey, there she is now"

A school technician has led in the slave women that are assigned to the class. Miss Nisouman is supervising their allocations to the groups. Louella waves at Hazli, and Miss Nisouman brings her over.

"Alright girls, you three will be learning with this slave here, Louella won her in the Church of Saint Tal-Romon's raffle yesterday, isn't she something?"
"yes miss" says Reraha.
"Hi Hazli, did you sleep alright? how was the room Jalar showed you to? alright?"
"Hello mistress Louella. Everything is fine"
"wow, Louella, you're right, she's got lovely eyes"

Louella is looking over the files for potential mates for Hazli. The records contain information about ancestry, immune system profiles, blood groups, dispositions to various diseases, and much more.
"this is complicated"
"yeah, Lou. We did this sort of thing for our slaver hounds too. There's so much to think about. Then you end up finding out that one of your dogs doesn't like bitches, and you're like, 'meh'. and like, have to start again and stuff."
"omg, I didn't think of that! Hazli?"
"Yes mistress Louella?"
"Umm, do you like boys? or like, do you think they're icky and stuff? and like girls instead?"
Hazli looks blank for a moment, then says "Boys will be fine, miss Louella"
"ok, super. Hey, Reraha, you said you did this sort of stuff for your dogs? You can make sense of all this?"
"Yeah. It's like, you want ones that have different immune systems, so the puppies get immunity to more things, but you also want to avoid introducing genes that make them like, more sensitive to diseases like you know, heart disease in old age and stuff."
"Cool."
"One of my cousins had that" says Sehrazah. "She was like, wanting to marry this dude, but the medical thingies said their genes had stuff that meant there'd be a risk of something, so she married a different dude instead to have her children with. For Family stuff, you know?"
Reraha nods her head in agreement. "omg, we'll have to think about this stuff too in ten years or so. That would be like, hard, if you liked a boy, but he was unsuitable and stuff."
"ten years seems a long way away?"
"yeah, but like, we'll be in here for 6 years and then thats only 4 years till people go to those big dance things and meet people and stuff. You might even get to meet like, Jamyl Sarum and stuff!"
"omg!"

Louella, Reraha and Sehrazah continue looking through the profiles of suitable mates for Hazli.
"hmm, how about this guy? Says he's got the right genetics and immunities and stuff?" says Sehrazah
"looks alright to me, what do you think, Louella?" asks Reraha
"Umm, sure. Hazli? what do you think about this one?" says Louella, showing the profile to Hazli.
"why are you asking Hazli?"
"cos like, maybe she won't like him? and if she doesn't like him, she won't like, orgasm and get fertilised and stuff?"
"oh, right, yeah"
"He looks fine, miss Louella" says Hazli.
"Super!"

Louella, Reraha and Sehrazah write up their justifications for the chosen mate for Hazli, and hand it in to Miss Nisouman, who looks it over, raising an eyebrow occasionally. "I see. Well, your reasoning is alright, though you need to be more accurate in your writing. Remember, your justifications for these sort of decisions go in to your records, and will be used in the future, by your descendants, so you have to be precise in your words, so that they may be understood in twenty or thirty years. Can you remember what you meant by 'and stuff' after that length of time, hmm?"

After class, Louella talks to Hazli.
"So like, I thought class went well today? hey, I had an idea for next biology class, I could like, do your hair and stuff, put pretty ribbons in it, you know?"
"That would be nice, Miss Louella"
"Alright, I have History class next, so, umm, take care and stuff and I'll see you later?"
"Goodbye, miss Louella"

Very nice how the tone and style remains the same cheerfully optimistic hyperactive buzz, but the slight shift, introducing an ever-present yet alien aspect of Amarrian society, jars the reader slightly.  I approve.

History Class

Ms. Tamarom greets the class "Hello again girls, we'll be learning about the Ealurians some more, which should be useful for you, since you have been issued the Ealurians you'll be using for Biology, yes?"

"miss, we've got an Udorian" says Sehrazah
"Is that so? How unusual"
"Louella won her in a raffle, she's pretty" says Reraha
"I see. Well, you'll still need to learn about the Ealurians. Now then..."

Ms. Tamarom talks about the Ealurians for the rest of the lesson.

Lunch

Louella has a bowl of vegetable soup and a roll.
"hey, Louella, did Miss Nisouman say how we're going to get the slaves to do it for biology?" asks Sehrazah
"don't think so? I dunno, maybe it'll be next biology lesson." says Louella
"oh ok. I've never seen slaves do it. Wonder if they do it like slaver hounds." says Sehrazah
"why would they? slaver hounds have four legs, people have 2. It's obviously going to be different." replies Reraha
"yeah but, like, it's still all the same things, the doodad goes in the whatnot, you know? Icky things" says Girned.
"Yes, but it's like, slaver hounds just do stuff, but people kiss each other and stuff, to get in the mood" says Zesia
"It's probably going to be funny looking, I've seen slaves doing it before, but that was a while back. maybe they do things  differently." says Aktih
"why would they do it differently?" says Girned
"I dunno, they just might?"
"I'm going to do Hazli's hair tonight, I think. Put some ribbons in it and stuff" says Louella
"oo, that'd be pretty, can I help?" says Reraha
"Sure! it'll be fun!"

Sports

"Afternoon ladies" says Miss Savan, the sports teacher. "How are you all today? Ready for some stickball?"

"miss, I'd like to try out for the stickball team.", "me too",  "so do I".

"Alright, I'll take sign ups at the end of the lesson. Now, let's play."

After the lesson, Louella and Reraha get some sandwiches for dinner, then go over to the staff quarters to find Hazli.

"hello? is Hazli there? it's Louella?"
"Oh hello Louella, Reraha." says Miss Nisouman. "what are you up to? "
"we're going to tie some ribbons in Hazli's hair, miss" says Reraha.
"yes. Make her look pretty and stuff."
"Oh, that will be nice, I am sure, wait here a moment."

after a few moments, Miss Nisouman brings Hazli out.
"Hi  Hazli, how are you?"
"I am well, miss Louella"
"super! I had this idea, for some ribbons in your hair and stuff, what do you think?"
"I am sure that will be fun"
"Alrighty, lets go to my room then", Louella offers Hazli her hand, and after a momentary hesitation, Hazli takes it.

Louella's Room

Hazli is sat on a chair, Louella and Reraha are twirling her hair into pigtails, and putting ribbons in it.
"you have lovely soft hair, Hazli" says Louella
"yeah, it's a lovely colour too."
"thank you miss Louella"
"Got some of these bright red ribbons in it now, they're really bright and make you look super, I think. Here's a mirror, what do you think?"
Hazli looks in the mirror.
"They look nice, miss Louella"
"this boy we're going to use for human biology, he'll find you really attractive and stuff, I think" says Reraha.
"yeah, Hazli, he's going to be all 'oh my she's so pretty' and stuff"
Hazli smiles a little
"hey, Hazli, have you like, done it with boys before? what's it like? is it as fun as they say? is it all sticky and stuff?"
"Yes, miss Louella. It can be enjoyable, and it can be a bit messy"
"eeeewww"
"how do you do it?" asks Reraha. "Do you just like, do it like slaver hounds? or do you kiss and stuff before?"
"It can be done either way, depending on the people involved, miss Reraha"
"can you draw stuff for us, Hazli?" asks Reraha
"what do you mean, miss Reraha?"
"I mean like, how do you stand or lie down and stuff? I've only seen slaver hounds doing it, and they're four legged and stuff?"
"Oh. Well, there are several ways you can do things, miss Reraha"
Louella finds some paper and pencils and gives them to Hazli, who makes some drawings while Louella and Reraha watch, asking questions from time to time, and giggling as Hazli explains some things.

As the evening ends, Louella walks with Hazli back to the staff quarters.
"I had fun today, Hazli, you're really knowledgeable and stuff"
"Thank you, miss Louella"
Louella gives Hazli a hug
"see you later"
"Goodnight, miss Louella"

Louella's Journal

Dear mum, today we learned more stuff in biology, later I put ribbons in Hazli's hair and she showed me some interesting things about stuff. I think I will try out for the stickball team as well.

Art

"Good morning class", says Ms. Kieram. "Today we will be doing some drawing, looking at patterns of light and shade."

"miss, is that like, drawing fruit and stuffs?"

"Yeesss. Fruit and 'stuff'. Now, if you gather round, we'll begin."

There are fruit and patterned cloths arranged on a small table in the middle of the room, and the class draw what they see.

"Miss, do we like, have people that come in and we draw them and stuff?"

"Yes, yes, we'll have a life model or two later in the year."

"Miss, Louella has a Udorian she won in a raffle, can she bring her in so we can draw her and stuff?"

"Is that so? Well, maybe."

Louella draws the oranges and patterned cloth she can see from where she is.

Modern Studies

"Hello class. Today we will be looking at Lady Catiz Tash-Murkon, and her economic miracle in developing the region." says Ms. Tamarom.

There are graphs.

"As you can see, ladies, with some determination, great things are possible, and as fine Amarrian Ladies, you will be as capable, determined and righteous as Lady Catiz."

Tech Studies

"Good afternoon ladies" says Mr. Gorouyar. "We have already looked at concrete and bricklaying, now today we shall be looking at roofing. Now then, perhaps you may have noticed that some buildings have flat roofs and some have sloped? Perhaps you have observed the difference in architecture in different climates? Well ladies, there is a reason, as indeed there is a reason for all of Creation being the way it is."

"sir? it's because of rain and stuff isn't it ?"

"Very good, It is indeed because of rain. A sloped roof allows the rain to flow off, but! why do some have steep roofs, hmmm?"

"Ummm, I don't know?"

"Perhaps ladies, you have been on a winter sports holiday?"

"I have! umm, is the steep roof to let snow fall off?"

"Very perceptive, Miss Tash-Murkon. Indeed. The steep roof reduces the amount of snow and ice that gathers, and the structure is then not overly burdened."

Mr. Gorouyar talks for a while longer about the reasons for architectural styles.

"Now then, ladies, we shall put a roof onto the building we were constructing last time. Follow me."

There are some of the school technicians standing at the work site, with scaffolding set up, and timber A-frames and panels ready to be put in place.

"Now ladies, we shall be using galvanised nails to assemble the roof, but why is that?"

"umm, is it because the zinc protects the iron? so they last longer?"

"Quite so ladies. In the manner of Garum and Zakara, the zinc sacrifices itself to protect the iron. The same method you may see used on ocean ships as well."

"cool"

The girls enthusiastically hammer nails into things, under the direction of Mr. Gorouyar and the technicians.

Louella's Journal

Today we learned about drawing fruit and stuff, and about Lady Catiz, and about putting roofs on buildings. It was interesting, now we know how to build buildings and stuff

Biology

"Hello class", says Miss Nisouman. "How are we all? Today we'll be mating your slaves with the mates you chose in the previous lesson, so put on your rubber gloves and we'll get started."

Louella waves at Hazli, who gives a small wave back.
"Hi Hazli, how's things?"
"I am fine, miss Louella"
"Ready for this? I'm sure you'll like, do fine"
"Thank you, miss Louella"

The school technicians help the class with their slaves and mates.

"Miss? how come our dude has a mask on and the other dudes don't?" asks Reraha
"Ah. Reraha, well, there's a reason for this. Hazli is Udorian, the other slaves are Ealurians. Now because Hazli was unexpected, we didn't have any suitable slaves, so the available mates are actually freemen, so the mask is to shield their identity."
"Oh" says Reraha. "That makes sense"

Louella and Sehrazah are helping Hazli undress.
"You look pretty, Hazli" says Louella.
"Yeah", says Sehrazah. "this dude will totally find you attractive".

"alright dude, you have to start by, ummm, let me check" says Reraha, looking at her book of instructions. "alright, you have to start by kissing and licking Hazli's nipples. Do that for like, five minutes, alright? Umm, you can do that with that mask on, can't you?"
The masked man nods.
"You can't talk, can you? or won't? to keep your secret identity and stuff?"
He nods again.
"k then. umm, Lou? Is Hazli ready?"
"yes, here we go Hazli"
"alright, mister, start those nipples"

"Hey, Sehrazah, this diagram, are we holding it the right way up?"
"I dunno, hmm, doesn't look any better this way up."
"what do you think, Lou?"
"hmm, dunno, how's Hazli getting on?"

Sehrazah pokes the man with a stick "Hey mister, have you finished with those nipples? you can start rubbing Hazlis whatnots now, do that for five minutes, ok?"
"omg, where did you get that stick?"
"Found it"

"alright, Hazli, if you get on your, umm, hands and knees, is that diagram right, Reraha? k, hands and knees, Hazli. Ok mister, you can start doing your stuff, alright? You can squeeze Hazli's boobs a little, but not too much, ok?"

"hey, Louella, how come the other groups seem to be ahead of us?"
"Huh? I dunno, maybe Ealurians are different or something?"
"Hey mister, are you nearly done? Maybe we should get them to change position or something?"
"to what?"
"umm, put Hazli on top, that'll do it?"
"k, if you're sure. Hey mister, stop that a moment, Hazli? omg, you're all pink and shiny, must be quite some exercise this, ok we want you to be on top of mister man here, alright? bounce up and down and stuff"

"hey, mister, see when Hazli's bouncing up and down, grab her boobs a little, if they wave about like that it could hurt or stuff, stretch ligaments and things. How're you doing Hazli? alright? nearly there?"
"yes. miss. Lou. ella."
"k, super."

"I think they're almost done now, should I get a bucket?"
"what do you need a bucket for, Reraha?"
"well like, when our slaver hounds are done, we throw a bucket of water on them?"
"how's that going to help us here?"
"I dunno? it just might?"
"don't see why, it'd be like, you know, you wouldn't like it if you were with that boy you liked, and your mum threw a bucket of water over you?"
"I guess not."
Sehrazah pokes them with the stick again "you finished?"

"Miss Nisouman? we're finished now."
"So I see. Well, I hope you were taking plenty of notes."

"How was it Hazli, was it fun? you seemed to be enjoying yourself?"
"I did enjoy myself, miss Louella."
"Is it a big workout? you were all pink and sweating?"
"It is quite hard work, yes, miss Reraha."
"Do you think you're pregnant yet?"
"I don't know, miss Sehrazah, it will take a while to be sure."
"Ok, see you next time."

"well, that was informative"
"yeah, wasn't as messy as I thought it would be?"
"slaver hounds are simpler"

Social studies

"Today ladies, we shall begin looking at ways to instruct your slaves. As you should know, as a slave owner you have a great responsibility to society." says Ms. Gimela.

The class listen attentively.

"Society frowns upon those that never grant any slave their freedom, as that means they have failed in their duty to instruct the slave in the Faith. Yet granting all slaves freedom is also greatly frowned upon, as that implies a lack of discipline. Of course there are exceptions, such as a Holder who forms a brigade of soldiers from his slaves to campaign with the Imperial Forces. Such soldiers would have earned their freedom"

"Miss? what about mancubines?" asks Aktih

Ms. Gimela gives Aktih a Look. "Aktih, go to the Office of the Headmistress after class."

Sport

Aktih joins the rest of the class after lunch.
"omg, I got a punishment exercise. Because like, mancubines aren't a topic we should discuss until senior years or something"
"wow, that seems harsh"

"Hello ladies, ready for some exercise?" says Miss Savan.

"yes miss"

"Super. Today we'll be doing some aerobics and gymnastics. This will improve your overall health, muscle tone and flexibility, alright?"

Louella's Journal

Dear mum, omg, sex looks totally ridiculous. Then we learned stuff about slave handling, then had aerobics and stuff later.

Sehrazah pokes them with the stick again "you finished?"
That would kill the mood a bit!  This is a very fun story - keep up the good work.

Louella's Journal

Dear mum, in tech studies we learned more about buildings, one of the other girls said it was suspicious like, we're doing most of the building work for free, then in Maths we learned stuff about equations and things, then in Modern Studies we were looking some more at interstellar trade and customs and things.

Dear mum, today in History we learned about some more of the early explorations of space, then in Social studies we had a lecture about penny dreadfuls and why they're bad, then we had more Maths.

Dear mum, in Art we drew some more fruit and things, Ms Kieram says Hazli can pose next week, then at Church we had a sermon about the wrongness of lust then in Scripture and Literature we were looking at the words of the Prophet Anoyia.

Day Off

Louella is wearing her knee length skirt, knee socks, t-shirt and cardigan, and wanders around the school, towards the staff quarters, where she meets Miss Savan the sports teacher, who is out jogging.

"Hello Miss Savan, how are you?"
"Oh hello Louella, I am quite well, where are you off to today?"
"I was going to wander around town, was going to see if Hazli and Jalar could come along."
"Oh, that sounds nice. The stickball team starts training next week, I hope to see you there."
"thanks, Miss. I like your sports outfit."
"Oh thank you, Louella, you can buy outfits like this in town, they offer good support when you're running."
"super."
"Alright, Louella, have fun today, I'll see you tomorrow"

Miss Savan jogs off.

Louella presses the intercom and asks if Jalar and Hazli can come into town today, and is told they'll be out shortly.

"Hello miss Louella"
"Hi Hazli, I was going to wander round town today, thought you might like to come?"
"That would be nice, miss Louella."
"super. There's a nice park we went to last time, and there were ducks and things. Going to get some bread for them today."
"I am sure the ducks would like that, miss Louella"
"oh hey, here's Jalar! Hi Jalar!"
"Hello miss Louella"
"I was just saying to Hazli that there was a nice park, and there were ducks and things"
"very good miss Louella"
"Alright, off we go."

Louella, Hazli and Jalar walk into town, to the park, Louella purchases a bag of breadcrumbs for the ducks.
"I like ducks, they're funny" says Louella, throwing some bread for the ducks, who quack happily.
Hazli and Jalar also throw some bread for the ducks.
"Hazli was helping us in biology class, did you know that Jalar?"
"I have heard this, miss Louella, yes."
"She was very good at it, she's really pretty and stuff, we learned a lot."
"Quite, miss Louella", says Jalar.
"Thank you" says Hazli.

After feeding the ducks, the group continue walking through the park, and arrive at the Preaching Corner, where there is a vacant pedestal.
"oh hey, I know!" says Louella, and marches up and climbs onto the pedestal.
"Umm, well, Saint Ageroth said that happiness is measured by what you hold in like, your heart, and not your hand, so umm, people should hug more and stuff and be full of joy. Umm, that's all I wanted to say today."
The small group of people standing around listening to the preachers on the pedestal offer some scattered polite applause.
One of the Theology Council agents raises an eyebrow. The other one writes something down.
"That was nice, miss Louella." says Hazli.
"Yeah, I think people should hug more, don't you, Jalar?"
"Indeed miss Louella"
Louella surprises Jalar by hugging him, and he breathes in sharply.
"are you alright, Jalar?"
"I am fine miss Louella, I just had a slight injury the other day it is still a bit tender."
"oh! what happened?"
"I received a couple of blows to the ribs, they are slightly bruised."
"Huh, well, hope you get better soon."
"Thank you miss Louella"

The group then wanders further into town, stopping to purchase sandwiches. Today, Louella has a sausage sandwich.

Day Off

"so how'd you bruise your ribs, Jalar?" asks Louella
"It was a... sporting... injury, miss Louella"
"Oh cool, sport. I like stickball. I'm going to try out for the school team and stuff, it looks fun, Miss Savan says the final of the competition is in Dam-Torsad! On Amarr Island itself!"
"Indeed, miss Louella, Very exciting I am sure"
"do you do any sport, Hazli?"
"I have some skill in fencing and pistol shooting, Miss Louella"
"ooh, that sounds interesting, it's not dangerous though, is it?"
"No, Miss Louella, it is quite safe."
"super. maybe you could show me some time? I'd like to see it. Do you have people you do it with and stuff?"
"That would be nice, Miss Louella"

The three wander around the shops, looking at items for sale. Louella purchases some sports clothes for stickball, and also buys a hat for Hazli.
"hey Jalar? you're not wearing your hat?"
"I am terribly sorry, miss Louella, there was a terrible accident with the hat and it is no longer wearable"
"Oh my, that's awful! Never mind, I'll get you another"
Jalar's poker face is the greatest in human history.
"That would be nice, miss Louella"

Louella and company wander back to the Academy, where she encounters Ms Tamarom the history teacher.
"Hello Louella, how are you?"
"Hi Ms. Tamarom, I'm doing super, took Hazli and Jalar shopping and stuff, we had fun."
"Good to hear. You have a visitor, he has been entertaining us with stories, and he'll be telling some to the class in History tomorrow"
"Oh? a visitor?"
"Indeed, here he comes now." says Ms. Tamarom. "I'll leave you to it"
"Aha, there she is!" says a loud voice.
"Grandad!"
"In the flesh! How is my favourite granddaughter? I was just passing through, and thought I'd stop by. Brought some things for you as well that your mother thought you should have."
"I'm doing super! I was just out shopping with Hazli and Jalar here."
"Hazli, is it? Nice to meet you. And you as well sir, Jalar, eh? I knew a Jalar in the Oolies. Colonel Archie Dougans, 51st Udorian Highlanders, retired. So, you'd be the school chaperones, eh? Keep Louella here out of mischief? Capital!"
"Jalar's good at conversation and stuff, and I won Hazli in a raffle last week, she's helping me with biology class"
"A raffle? Are you gambling, Louella?", he says with a grin.
Louella giggles. "it was a church raffle!"
"Aha! a Righteous Raffle then! Out-standing!"
"I'd better let Jalar and Hazli go, granddad, since it's tea time"
"Of course. Pleasure to meet you both."

Louella and her granddad go for the evening meal then carry the things to Louella's room.

Louella's Journal

Dear mum, omg, granddad made a surprise visit, said he was visiting some old Army friends and decided to drop by, he brought your dolls house with him, said you said you wanted me to have it at school? it's super. Also gave me one of his old Army pistols, so I can do pistol shooting at school with it and stuff.

Biology

"Good morning class, today we will be looking at various methods of testing your slaves for medical issues, including blood sampling, genetic testing and much more. It will be useful for pregnancy and other tests as well."

"Miss, I have a question?"

"Go ahead, Girned"

"ok, see like, when we like, get married and stuff, do we have to like, do all that rigmarole with like, our husbands and stuff? Cos it like, looks really daft and stuff ? bouncing up and down and things. It looks totally silly. "
"and messy" adds Zesia.

"Well, there are options where you don't have to 'bounce up and down' if you really don't want to." says Miss Nisouman. "But it is also fun, one of your other teachers will explain about it, your social studies teacher. There are also books in the library. Hmm, 'Marital Activities for the Righteous Amarrian Woman' should be a few copies of that available"

History

"Hello class, we have a guest today who will be telling us about the Minmatar Rebellion. Colonel Dougans, of the Udorian Highlander Light Infantry"

"Good morning, ladies, I shall indeed be talking about the war against the Fuzzy-Wuzzies, which of course were called that on account of their hairstyle, favouring fuzzy hairstyles such as dreadlocks and other such things.
I remember it quite well, I was a young man at the time, not long out of the Academy, as was normal for that time. The Army has always been a decent choice for advancement for young Amarrians, have any of you considered enlisting? Capital!
Now then, I was sent to the Udorian Highlanders, as a platoon commander, and the Division was deployed for routine policing of space that is now claimed by the Republic. At the time of course, it was under the authority of the Holders that had been appointed, and we were there to keep dissidents and pirates under control. I met the then Duke of Pator in a social club, he seemed a nice enough fellow, we played cards a few times. Billiards too, naturally. I encourage you to learn the art of billiards, I knew an officer in the Navy who played, a tall blonde Admiral, she was very, very skilled at the billiards. Dancing too. Fine occupations for a Lady.
Anyway, where was I, ah of course. When the insurgency started, we received orders to deploy for defensive campaign and await reinforcements for a counter assault.
The Minmatar is a cunning fellow, but like most enemies of the Empire, they are inexperienced and do not like the taste of Amarrian steel. Which was fortunate for us, let me tell you.
The first battle, it was some irregular fuzzy wuzzies that attempted to assault the spaceport, we repulsed them quite handily. The Fuzzy Wuzzy prefers his projectile weapon, which of course has several inferiorities to the Righteous Light of the laser weaponry that the Army uses. Not least of which is that on the planet we were on, the atmosphere was thicker than normal, which robbed the fuzzy wuzzies weapons of power. Ballistics, you know. Air resistance increases with atmospheric pressure, which shortened the range of those heathen weaponry. And so our lasers cut them down. It was a damn shame, to see so many souls condemned without hope of redemption, a damn shame. Our priests and medics were busy, very busy indeed.
Anyway, later on, there were more professional outfits sent against us, by this time, much of the Holders and the other civilians had evacuated, leaving ourselves and a large number of native troops to defend against the fuzzy wuzzy insurgents.
Kameiras! some of the best infantrymen in the cluster, I say. I met a company of them one time. Goes to show of course, what happens when a soul is Saved. Now our natives weren't Kameiras, but they were loyal and faithful.
So there we were, a few good men, and women naturally, There's not much that's a more beautiful sight than a righteous fighting Amarr woman, I tell you, So, we formed a defensive ring around the spaceport, to hold it against all the fuzzy wuzzies and other insurgents. We had an Engineer battalion as well, Fine body of men that lot. They were the ones who constructed our defences, as well as the unfortunate duty of the mass graves for those poor fuzzy wuzzies that were killed without redemption, God rest their poor souls.
Eventually of course, the Emperor declared peace, and we were withdrawn from the theatre. Hardly a glorious victory, but of course, those who talk about glorious victories are seldom fighting in the mud, like we were.
Not mudfighting of course, that is for sporting ladies of the appropriate disposition. Most of them are Gallente, naturally, they go in for that sort of thing over there. Mud wrestling and all sorts. Quite unrighteous.
I stayed in the Army, naturally, and after we were recalled from Heimatar as the fuzzy wuzzies call it, we were deployed to the Bleak Lands. And that's another story."

The class listen, enthralled.

"Miss, when do we do pistol shooting and stuff?" asks Louella. "Granddad gave me this pistol for it and stuff?"

"Oh, we'd be doing some later in the week. You'd need to get that pistol checked by the school's armsmaster, for safety purposes" says Miss Savan. "Now then, it's stickball time. Get yourselves changed and we'll get started"

The class play stickball for the rest of the lesson.

"Good work, ladies. Remember, that after dinner will be evening practice for those wishing to join the stickball teams, I'm hoping to see some of you there."

Dinner

Louella has a steak & gravy pie. It is yummy.

"Your granddad seems nice, Lou" says Sehrazah.
"Yeah, he's got lots of stories about things, they're like, interesting and stuff."
"cool. Ms Tamarom said he'll be talking about wars against Blood raiders and stuff? that sounds like, dangerous"
"totally, those blasphemers are like, evil and stuff"
"I'm going to stickball practice after this, how about you?"
"definitely. It'd be super to travel round and stuff, I think"

Stickball Practice

Louella and Sehrazah wander over to the stickball field, to join up with the other girls that have expressed an interest in stickball.

"Hi, I'm Louella"
"howdy, I'm Temala, you're a first year? I'm second year, this'll be my second season at this."
"cool, you've done this before?"
"Totally! We like, qualified for some of the later rounds last season, and like, we went to Sarum Prime to face one of their teams, Got beat though."
"wow. sounds fun."
"yah, we were like, playing against the Mekhios Academy for Amarrian Maidens. and you'll never guess what."
"what?"
"Their senior team captain, is like, dating Jamyl Sarum, she's like, the Sarum Heiress or something?"
"omg what? she's one of like, those?"
"So I heard, from one of the Sarum team members."
"omg"
"totally"

((ofc, conversation with Temala is dependent on the chronology of Jamyl Sarum in Templar One being 'accurate'. If not, then:
"Hi, I'm Louella"
"howdy, I'm Temala, you're a first year? I'm second year, this'll be my second season at this."
"cool, you've done this before?"
"Totally! We like, qualified for some of the later rounds last season, and like, we went to Sarum Prime to face one of their teams, Got beat though."
"wow. sounds fun."
"yah, we were like, playing against the Mekhios Academy for Amarrian Maidens. One of their past players was Jamyl Sarum, she's like, the Sarum Heiress or something?"
"wow"
"totally" ))

Sport

Miss Savan says "I'm  pleased to see so many of you wanting to play stickball for the school. Today we'll be working on some of the basics, then we'll see which positions you'll be suited for. Assisting me with this, will be Coach Azmob, who some of you will know from last season."
"Hello ladies" says Coach Azmob, a dark-haired muscly Udorian woman with a bent looking nose and squashed ears. "For those of you that don't know me, I used to play in the slave leagues, and now coach stickball for the Academy here. You'll become some of the finest stickball players in the Empire, if I have anything to do about it. Now, lets get started"

Louella's Journal

Dear mum, stickball practice was tiring but fun, also granddad told one of his stories in history class, people liked it.

Art

"Miss? instead of like, fruit, can we paint Louella's slave girlie today?"
"Well Girned, if Louella agrees to it, that could be arranged. What do you say, Louella?"
"Umm, alright?"

Louella and the class paint Hazli who models for them. The class use more pink paint than they did when painting the fruit and tablecloths.

Ms. Kieram surveys their efforts.
"That's good, you've done some great work on the shadows there, Sehrazah"
"Hmm, that reminds me, I'll need to get a technician to look at the heating vents."

Modern Studies

"Today, class, we have another talk about recent events in the Bleak Lands from Colonel Dougans."
"Hello again, girls, Now then, Johnny Blooder is a cunning fellow..."

Tech Studies

"Hello ladies, today we will be beginning to look at horticulture"

Library

Louella and Sehrazah wander over to the library, to look up some stuff.
"hey, Lou, here's that book Miss Nisouman mentioned"
"ooh, lets have a look"
Sehrazah pulls out a copy of 'Marital Activities for the Righteous Amarrian Woman' and the two flick through it.
"oh hey, its an illustrated edition"
"omg, that looks sticky"
"eww, why would you do that?"
"that's never going to fit, is it? huh, it does. wow."

Louella's Journal

Dear mum, today in art I painted Hazli who was modelling for us. Then Granddad talked about the blood raiders and how the Army and Navy root them out and stuff. Then we looked at gardening and other stuff with plants and things.

Biology

"Now then class, we'll be taking blood samples from your slaves, and we'll test them to find out if they are pregnant. We'll begin with these oranges here, to get you used to how sampling needles work."

Louella and the rest of the class poke at the oranges with the needles, before eventually moving on to taking samples from the slaves.

"Hi Hazli, how's you?"
"I am well, Miss Louella."
"super, we're like, taking blood samples and stuff today?"
"I see."
"cool, now this is probably like, going to hurt a little and stuff?"

Social studies

"Ladies, as you should know, card games are a suitable pastime for a Righteous young Amarrian woman, as it teaches subtlety, forward thinking, and is also an enjoyable way to spend a few hours"

The class learn the rules of some card games.

Sport

"Good afternoon class, again, there'll be stickball practice in the evening, but today we will be looking at the skill of pistol shooting, which every young Amarrian woman should know. We'll start by going over the basics of safe handling and storage of the pistol, then we'll shoot a few rounds later in the afternoon."
"Miss, can I use the pistol Granddad brought?"
"If the armsmaster agrees it is safe to use, of course."

The school armsmaster helps Miss Savan demonstrate safe handling of pistols, and checks over Louella's antique laser.
"A fine weapon miss, you say it was your Grandfathers?"
"Yeah, he was like, in the Udorian Highlanders and stuff"
"I see. Well, it is a fine weapon in good condition, so I would say it is safe to fire, of course, it is a military pistol rather than a ladies one, so it will be quite a bit heavier, so you will need to adapt to that."
"Alright"

The class fire on some distant paper targets with their pistols, the sounds of pew, pew, pew fill the air.
BBZZZZzzzzzzt.
"omg, Louella, that was loud, what kind of pistol is that?"
"it's my granddads army one"
"cool."

Stickball Practice

Coach Azmob and Miss Savan organise the girls into teams to play some practice games.
"Of course, school stickball isn't as physical as slave league stickball. It can be very intense" says Coach Azmob. "Particularly when most players are like myself, bred over many generations to be players."
"is that why you have like, a bent nose, coach? cos of injuries?"
"Indeed. I have broken my nose hmm, lets see, at least a dozen times. Last time was a Cup game. Very competitive"

Louella's Journal

Dear mum, today we took blood samples in biology, then learned to play cards, then we did some pistol shooting. Then we had stickball practice. I'm going to be an attacking player, says Miss Savan.

Louella's Journal

Dear mum, in tech studies we looked more at gardening and stuff and used some machines to cut grass and other things it was fun, then we learned more things in maths about how to use graphs and things to determine how to run an estate and things, then in modern studies we were looking at some more things with the Gallente and their unrighteousness and stuff.

Dear mum, in history we did stuff about the formation of the imperial institutions, then in social studies we played cards, then maths had more equations.

Dear mum, in Art we did some more clay sculpture, Hazli modelled for us again, then at church we did a lot of singing, it was the one about the Reclaiming, then in scripture and literature we looked at calligraphy, which is about how you can use fancy lettering to make the Words look really super and stuff.

Day off.

Louella, Sehrazah and Colonel Dougans wander through the park on the way to the city, where Col. Dougans is going to meet some friends before leaving later in the day.

"It is a nice park, isn't it Granddad?"
"It is indeed, Louella. Oho, what's this? a statue of General Ashriel ?"

Louella and Sehrazah look at the statue, it is of a True Amarr woman, in the uniform of the Imperial Army.

"Do you know her, granddad?"
"No, I met her once, a long time ago though. She wasn't in that sort of uniform at the time. It was during one of the campaigns against the Blooders in the Bleak Lands."
"Ooh, sounds interesting"
"Aha, a bench, and it is next to the duck ponds, well, lets have a seat, feed the ducks, and I'll tell you another story"

Title: Re: The Hilaban Academy For Fine Young Amarrian Ladies
Post by: Louella Dougans on 23 Mar 2012, 12:43
Day Off

"Well, girls, as I said, it was during one of the campaigns we fought against Blooders in the Bleak Lands, I was a Captain at the time. C Company.
The Reds had constructed a facility on one of the moons of a planet, and according to Naval Intelligence, were building some kind of giant laser system. Obviously, we were having none of that.
The plan was that our battalion would land near the facility, surround it, and capture it as intact as possible. Intelligence told us there was an agent on the inside, so we were to watch our fire.
Of course, plans have to change upon contact with the Enemy, and the damned Reds had a lot more forces than we were expecting.
But we were Imperial Army soldiers, and it was our Duty to prevail.

Now, the moon we landed on was airless, which meant we were fighting in pressure suits, and that there would be no atmospheric effect on weapons fire. This naturally makes fighting more intense, as any damage to your suit may incapacitate you, and the lethal range of weapons is increased greatly.

We lost quite a few in the first hour of fighting as a result, however we were rather fortunate, in that the Blooder forces did not seem to be well trained in vacuum combat. Their aim was well off. My Sergeant-Major suggested they must have been freshly recruited from planetary populations.

In any case, we had taken the high ground and were almost at the facility entrance, having pushed the Reds back, when there was a most unwelcome sight, Blooder fighting vehicles appeared. I said to my Sergeant-Major: 'Sergeant-Major, there would appear to be some Blooder tanks now' and he replied 'Yes sah, rather unsporting of them, sah', I then said 'What would you suggest, Sergeant-Major?' and he suggested 'We have some heavy lasers, sah' to which I naturally responded 'Well, that is fortunate, Sergeant-Major. An excellent suggestion'.

After dealing with the Blooders armour, I said 'C Company, advance!" and we pushed onwards to the entrance to the facility. Of course, it was pressurised, so we cycled through the airlocks, and readied for close quarter combat. Johnny Blooder doesn't like the taste of Amarrian steel, I tell you.

As I said, it was close quarters combat, very intense, having to fight along corridors without much in the way of cover. Although, the Reds hadn't fortified the interior past the vehicle garage, which was a lack of foresight on their part, as I remarked to my Sergeant-Major, who agreed that Johnny Cultist doesn't think far ahead. Indeed, if they did, they'd have seen their heresy for what it was, and repent.

Took a few prisoners too, men and women. It was disgusting, to see True Amarr men and women behaving in that way. I said to my troops to be careful, I said: 'Do not think of touching those prisoners, until after the priests make them repent. You'd get the herpes hereticus from them for sure.'

One of the last groups we took prisoner, well, that is when I met General Ashriel here. And as I said, she was most definitely not in uniform at the time. Neither were the other women we took prisoner with her. I said, 'Sergeant-Major, find some blankets for these prisoners, cover up those, those, umm, those Deceiver's Domes'. And that is when Major Ashriel, as she was a Major at the time, introduced herself. 'Major Ashriel, Army Intelligence, what took you so long?' she said. To which I replied, 'Johnny Cultist brought more friends than we were informed, Major', then I said, 'Sergeant-Major, find the Major a uniform, would you?'

And that is how I met General Ashriel"

Sehrazah and Louella smile, and Sehrazah giggles "Deceiver's domes?"

Col. Dougans smiles back "Indeed, little miss, a woman is a fine thing to look at, except when she's a heretic, and that's when she has the Domes of the Deceiver, instead of the righteous God's Globes that nourish her children."

Louella and Sehrazah burst out in a fit of giggles at these descriptions.

Day Off

After waving Col. Dougans off to meet his friends before going to the spaceport, Louella and Sehrazah continue wandering around town.

"Hey Lou, look at this"
"What is it?"
"Says here there's an auction of some stuff today. Lets go take a look"
"Okay. What kind of stuff?"
"Dunno, some stuff belonging to a Holder or something it seems"

Louella and Sehrazah wander over to the auction plaza, where they meet Reraha and Zesia.
"Hi Reraha"
"Hello Louella"
"How's things?"
"Alright, we were just going for a nosy at this auction thing, see what stuff is being sold"
"So were we"

The auctioneer is running through his routine:
"Next up, lot two twenty seven, untrained personal assistant. Opening bids please? Do I hear ten gold coins?"
The crowd look disinterested.

"What's up for sale now?"
"Dunno, didn't hear the number, can't see either, can you?"
"Nah, the crowds a bit dense"

Reraha jumps up and down, trying to see over the people in front.

"Any bids at all? One? One gold coin? Aha! Bidder at the back"

"What's for sale, did you see, Reraha?"
"Umm, looked like a big tall slave dude"

"Going once, going twice, going three times, Sold! Sold to the young lady at the back."

An auctioneers helper appears. "Hello miss, congratulations on your purchase. Quite a bargain, I'd think"
"Umm, thanks?" says Reraha.
"What did you buy?" asks Zesia.
The auctioneers helper smiles: "A lovely personal assistant slave. He's very impressive"

Reraha looks up at her accidental purchase. Then further up.
"He's very tall, isn't he?"
"Totally, he's like, 8 foot tall nearly?"
"Nah. Can't be 8 foot tall. More like 7."
"But still, that's like, huge"
"He doesn't look Ealurian or stuff"
"Might be one of those Minmatar people"
"Could be. Hey mister, are you a Minmatar?"
"Yes, young miss. I am a Minmatar. A Brutor"
"Cool, I've never met a Minmatar."
"Maybe we should wander off before we buy anything else by mistake"

The four girls and the large man wander off.
"Hey look, a circus, let's go see!"

On an open plot of land, a brightly painted spaceship is landed, and a travelling circus has set up.

Lord Khodja's Amazing Travelling Circus.

The girls wander around the circus, looking at all the various things on display.

"Hey look, a talking slaver hound!"
"cool!"

A slaver hound is on a platform, wearing a comical outfit.
"Hello ladies" says the hound's handler.
"hi"
The hound waves a paw in greeting.
"what's the dog's name?" asks Louella.
"She's called Luchar"
"hi Luchar, how's you?"
"ggrrrreat"
"wow! cool!"
"what's your favourite food, Luchar?" asks Louella
"ssossages"
"omg! that's amazing!"

The girls continue to wander around, finding an ice-cream and lemonade stand.
"mmm, yummy"
A group of other girls appear.
"Oh look, it's the slave fondler, and she has a slave to fondle"
"you again!"
"hey, I don't fondle slaves!"
"Then why do you have a mancubine, slave-fondler?"
"omg what"
"that big dude, he's a mancubine, look at those muscles and stuff. Totally a mancubine. Which makes you a slave fondler"
"eww"
"see you later, slave fondler"
"cow"

"omg, Lou, is this man a mancubine?"
"I dunno, maybe ask him?"
"Hey, man, are you a mancubine?"
"I am a personal slave, mistress."
"Yeah, but like, did you, you know, like, do it with your previous mistress and stuff?"
"Yes, mistress. Some of my duties included the physical act of love with my previous mistress, God rest her soul"
"omg"
"heh, Reraha, you going to keep him?"
"omg, he's like 7ft tall and stuff, look at him, he's huge, I totally could never do that. Even if it was totally righteous and stuff, I'm like, tiny."
"you can keep him under your bed till you're eighteen then, heh"
"shut up Zesia"
"umm, maybe we should find someone to buy him, might get into trouble at school if you have a mancubine under your bed"
"totally, Sehrazah"

The girls continue wandering around the circus.
"what's that? Test-your-strength?"
"hey! get your mancubine to do that, Reraha"
"shut up Zesia!"
"it's a good idea though, hey mister man, win us a thing with that, will you?"
"yes, mistress"
"omg, a cuddly slaver hound prize!"
"Yay!"

"Hey, Reraha, I have an idea"
"what's that Sehrazah?"
"your mancubine there, maybe the circus needs another strongman and stuff?"
"omg! that's a brilliant idea!"
"it's totally a Sign!"
"what, Lou?"
"It's a Sign, like in scripture and stuff? the auction was a Sign, and the circus being here is a Sign, and the man being all strong and stuff, is a Sign"
"omg, totes!"
"I know! it's totally a Sign, that your man is to join the circus and travel and stuff! It's totes Written"
"we should totally find Lord Khodja then"
"ok, lets take a look, where'd Zesia go?"
"dunno, maybe she went that way?"

The girls wander along, and find Zesia
"Hey, where'd you get to?"
"Um, I saw a fortune teller woman"
"cool, what did they say?"
"They were like, this weird minmatar lady, and they had a crystal ball, and jewellery and stuff, and were all like 'cross my palm with silver' and stuff, so I totes gave them a silver coin"
"weird!"
"I know! and like, she said I'd get married and have 9 children and stuff!"
"omg, nine?"
"heh, Zesia, guess you'll like being all pregnant and stuff if you're going to have nine"
"pfft, go impale yourself on your mancubine"
"no you!"
"heh"
"Zesia, we totes had an idea, that we should sell the man to the circus owner. Lou thinks it's a Sign and it's written and stuff"
"omg! that's brilliant!"

The group continue to wander around, and eventually find Lord Khodja, after visiting Boassie, the Empire's Smartest Ealurian.
"that Ealurian guy was amazing"
"totally! He knew lots of stuff about things"
"hey, that must be Lord Khodja there!"
"how can you tell?"
"well, like, he has like, scalp wax on? he's totally shiny"
"omg, so he does"
"Lord Khodja, I presume?"
"Well, Hello there." says Lord Khodja, a large Amarr man with an enormous handlebar moustache that twirls at the ends. "I am blessed by the Lord himself, to be in the presence of such a group of fine young Amarr ladies"
"hi! we totally love your circus and stuff"
"Totes! we would like a favour though?"
"Indeed? And what might this favour be?"
"well, we have this man here, we bought him by accident in an auction and stuff, and then we came here, and it was totally a Sign, and so we thought you would buy him as a strongman and stuff for your circus?"
"I see. And how would you know it is a Sign?"
"It's definitely a sign! Cos, the auction was a sign, and then the circus was a sign for being here, and we had a go at the test your strength thing and won a thing, and that was a sign"
"Mhmm. You make a convincing argument, my dear."
"totally! and we were all like, the circus owner, would totally want a strongman and stuff, and the guy is totally muscles and things, so it would be perfect. Because we totally just can't keep the man at school and it would be wrong to release him into the wild without proper supervision and stuff."
"That is true, miss. I could use a strongman, and your man is an impressively muscled individual. Very well, I shall purchase him. Is five hundred gold coins acceptable?"
"omg! yes"
"wow!"
"Then it is done. Now then, my good man, what is your name?"
"It is Jacob, sir"
"Very good, and how does being a strongman sound to you?"
"I will do my best, sir"
"Excellent, now then ladies, I shall take my leave of you, we must get Jacob prepared for his new life."
"bye Lord Khodja, bye Jacob"

The four girls wander around the circus some more.
"that was amazing Reraha, five hundred gold coins!"
"I know!"
"mancubine owner to slave trader in one day, heh"
"oh hush Zesia"
"just teasing you"

Later in the day, they watch the performances in the ring, which include acrobats, clowns, performing animals, and Jacob's debut as a strongman. Louella and the others applaud.

Louella's Journal

Dear mum, today was when Granddad went home, then I went to a circus with my friends, there was lots of interesting stuff there.

Office of the Headmistress

"Really now girls, this sort of thing falls far below the standards that the Academy hopes to instil in its pupils." says the Headmistress with a frown. "Running amok, slave trading, general rash behaviour, this simply will not do."

Zesia, Serazah, Louella and Reraha have been summoned to explain their behaviour.
"It was totally a Sign, Miss" says Sehrazah.
"We all thought it was a Sign too, Miss" says Zesia.

"A Sign it may well have been, girls, however, acting without thinking is not the Amarr way. Especially for fine young ladies such as the ones you will be when you finish your education here. What if the slave had been a Covenant assassin, hmm? Did you think of that?"

"no, miss" says Reraha.

"Indeed. Now then, I shall expect you all to act in a more considered fashion in future, especially you, Miss Dougans, and you, Miss Tash-Murkon, this is the second time I have had to speak with you."

"yes miss" say Louella and Zesia.

"Now then, off to class with you"

The rest of the day passes in the usual fashion.

Social Studies

The class is looking at the structure of society and how people come to be where they are.

"Now ladies, there are many ways in which a lady can advance herself and her family, not least of which is the traditional way of marrying a suitable young gentleman." says Ms. Gimela.

"Miss, I heard the Gallente like, marry just anyone, without thinking about it?" says Aktih.

"Quite so, the poor heathens let their hormones slosh around and let their organs do their thinking. They are to be pitied and frowned upon, not imitated. Now then, the question is, what is a suitable young gentleman?"

"One that isn't smelly and icky" blurts Girned, which gets a giggle from the rest of the class.

Ms. Gimela frowns slightly. "Quite"

"Umm, miss? a suitable one would be like, umm, a Navy officer or something, maybe?" says Zesia.

"A Navy officer, and why would that be, Zesia, hmm?"

"Ummm, because like, umm, nice girls like a man in uniform?" Zesia says haltingly.

"Well, that is true to an extent, but what else?"

"Miss, it's because Navy and Army officers can get like, granted estates and stuff by superior Holders and Heirs or even the Emperor? So you end up with like, huge tracts of land?" says Sehrazah.

"Very good, Sehrazah. It is true that a dashing young officer may be granted estates, so that is one thing to bear in mind. A barony in a new star system can be built upon, to increase your family influence in later generations."

"What about older systems, Miss?" asks Reraha.

"In older systems that are already well developed, you would have to move in the appropriate social circles to increase your influence, play the political game. It is quite different to the frontier systems. What you choose to do is up to you, and your talents."

Ms. Gimela puts up some slides showing some historically notable Amarrian ladies and how they advanced their family interests through well chosen marriages.

"Of course, in the modern age, ever since spaceflight a few short centuries ago, the Amarrian Lady is not restricted to choosing a suitable young gentleman with prospects, she may choose to make her own destiny. You may be a dashing young Naval officer yourself, or a Scriptural scholar, or cunning merchant, or any number of Righteous careers, which could result in being granted an estate yourself, if that is where your talents lie."

Ms. Gimela puts up a few more slides featuring some more historic ladies, including some Navy officers.

"those historic uniforms look amazing!" says Louella.

Sport

"Miss, I don't feel like playing stickball today" says Girned.
"Oh? why's that? are you injured?" asks Miss Savan.
"Miss, we learned about marriage and stuff in social studies and Girned doesn't like boys" says Aktih.
"Ssh!" says Girned.
"Oh, is that all?" says Miss Savan. "No-one likes boys. They're smelly, and grubby, and have grabby hands that prod you in the boob"
The class giggle at this comment.
"Now, the rest of you, go and warm up". Girned and Miss Savan remain talking for a couple of minutes before joining the others.

After the lesson, the girls talk to each other.
"What did Miss Savan say?" asks Louella.
"umm, stuff about things" says Girned.
"Yeah, but what?" asks Reraha.
"umm, she said that like, if I don't like boys, then there's stuff that I can do, like umm... there's boys that don't like girls, and I could have like, a convenient marriage, and then when like we've had some children, then we can like do stuff, but totes in secret and things?"
"Cool" says Zesia.
"Like what? have a secret girlfriend in a secret room in your house and stuff?" asks Aktih.
"Totes. Since we're like, going to be holders and stuff then we can have options like that. Miss Savan said like, thats one of the things about being a holder and things." says Girned.
"A dungeon with a secret girlfriend in it?" says Sehrazah incredulously.
"Totes. There's like, a thing in a book about it, all about stuff like how it's totes important to be discreet and stuff"
"wow, that's amazing" says Louella.
"Boys are a bit gross anyway" says Sehrazah, authoritively. "just look at the mess that they made in biology class"
"Totes"
"eww, thanks for reminding us"
"ew"

After dinner, Reraha and Louella are walking back to their rooms.
"That's odd about Girned not liking boys, isn't it?" says Reraha.
"yeah. Miss Savan was funny though, saying boys are all grabby and stuff"
"Totes. It's because of like, hormones and stuff."
"Biology is full of weird stuff like that. Like how you're all tubes and stuff on the inside"
"Yeah."
"I wonder if Girned like, fancies any of us, if she doesn't like boys"
"Nah, I doubt it"
"oh, why?"
"Cos you're funny looking, heh" says Reraha, giggling.
"oh yeah? well so are you!" says Louella, smiling.

Louella's Diary

Dear mum, today we looked at marriage and things, and one of the other girls decided she didn't like boys, then we had sticky pudding and custard at dinnertime. I might want to be a Navy officer when I grow up and stuff, so that I am totes a good marriage prospect and things.

Biology

"maybe we should ask Miss Nisouman about what happens when girls don't like boys?" says Louella
"for our slaver hounds, what you do is, you spray them with this like, scent of one that's in heat, and then the male slaver hounds would totally mate with them" says Reraha.
"think that works with people too?" says Zesia.
"dunno, maybe."
"that sounds a bit gross though, I wouldn't want slaver hound smell on me"
"umm, no, it wouldn't be slaver hound smell, it'd be people smell."
"ew"
"Miss, what happens if you have a girl slave that doesn't like boys ?" asks Girned.
"Oh, well there's several options for that" says Miss Nisouman. "Artificial insemination for one"
"would that work on like, us as well as slaves?"
"Oh, of course."
"cool"

Miss Nisouman shows the class some information on how artificial insemination works, and explains about the interstellar trade in frozen genetic material.

Social Studies

The class are outside, in front of a series of odd looking contraptions and apparatus, each with a handful of slaves standing nearby.

"Now, today we shall be looking at instruction of slaves", says Ms. Gimela. "Each activity has a task which you must try and accomplish, by instructing the slaves appropriately."

The class divides into groups, Louella, Sehrazah and Reraha are in one group, and approach the first activity.

"what are we to do here?" says Louella
"It says, 'build a bridge across the... umm... shark infested custard'" says Reraha.
"omg, the what?" says Sehrazah
"look, says right here. 'Shark infested custard'"
"Looks like grass to me"
"use your imagination"
"I am! how are sharks supposed to swim in custard? It's too thick!"
"ok. so how do we build this bridge?"
"we've got a bunch of logs, and some ropes, and a chair, and these five Ealurian slaves to do stuff."
"nothing can touch the custard, remember."

After some time shuffling the equipment around, and having two slaves fall into the shark infested custard, the three girls manage to cross over the bridge.

"that was terrible, we must be doing something wrong"
"ok, what's this next one?"
"says... 'propel a message over the invisible wall'"
"what wall?"
"umm, I don't know. it's invisible"

Some time later, a message may or may not have been projected over an invisible wall.

"Now what?"
"carry one person across the bottomless chasm"
"This is ridiculous, I don't see any way to do it"
"wait, I have an idea"
"what is it?"
"Ok, here goes. Umm. Slave?"
"Yes, Mistress?"
"You've done this before, yes?"
"Yes. Mistress."
"Alright then... supervise the other slaves in completing the task!"
"omg, Reraha, that's cheating!"
"How is it cheating?"
"Umm, dunno"

Later, the class reviews their performance.
"I am most pleased with Reraha's solution" says Ms. Gimela. "It is important not to over-manage your slaves, allow them to perform their tasks without you hovering over them all the time. Delegation to senior slaves is important, you will not be able to do everything yourself"
"Miss? how do you know which people to make senior?"
"Experience will teach you, Zesia"

"That was amazing, Reraha, Miss Gimela seemed really pleased"
"Thanks Louella"
"I wonder where they came up with the idea about shark infested custard"
"yeah, that was a bit funny"

Louella's Diary

Dear mum, today we learned about delegation of tasks to a heirarchy of slaves. There was shark infested custard.

Day Off

Louella, Sehrazah and Girned are exploring some of the woodlands on the school estate, looking at the various creatures and plants that they find.

"omg, look at that centipede go! that's fast!"
"wow!"
"they're weird looking"
"not as weird as spiders though"

The girls scramble up a hill in the woods, following the course of a small stream, when Sehrazah hears something.
"Shh, listen! I hear voices!"

The three girls quietly creep uphill and look over the edge of a large fallen tree.
"look!" whispers Girned, "It's that older girl that keeps bullying us!"
"so it is! but who's that?" replies Sehrazah.
"omg, that's one of the boys from that boys school!"
"Ssh! they'll hear us!"

The girls peer over the edge of the tree, then duck behind it again.
"she was kissing him!", says Sehrazah.
"eww" says Girned.
"Miss Gimela wouldn't like that", says Louella.
"hmm" says Girned. "I have an idea"
"what about?"
"umm, ok, like, are either of you wearing a bra?"
"no?", says Louella.
"I am, why?", says Sehrazah.
"that's cos you're a chesty Udorian, Seh", giggles Louella
"you're just jealous, hah!"
"Ssh! ok, like, could I borrow it?", says Girned.
"what? now? why?"
"you'll see"
Sehrazah contorts herself for a few seconds, before handing Girned her bra, through the sleeve of her shirt.
"omg, how did you do that without taking off your shirt?"
"practice. ok Girned, what do you need it for?"
Girned takes the bra, and fiddles with one of the roots of the fallen tree. "Ta-da!"
"is that... is that a catapult?"
"what are we going to launch?"
"These", says Girned.
"Are those... those are those balloon things aren't they?"
"got them from the human reproduction lab"
"omg"
"Lets fill them up with mud and water"

A few minutes later, the three girls peer over the tree again.
"They're like, 50 metres away, Girned"
"omg, he's taking her shirt off!"
Girned fiddles with the catapult. "ok, hand me the balloons"

*TWANG*

A scream is heard.

"Let's get out of here!"
"don't forget my bra!"
"omg did you see it? that was amazing!"

Louella's Diary

Dear mum, today we went exploring in the woodland, there were centipedes.

Tech Studies

The class are watching a levitating superconducting magnet.

"Omg, that's amazing", says Sehrazah.

"Indeed", says Mr. Gorouyar, "Superconducting materials have many applications, due to their electrical and magnetic properties."

"How do they work?", asks Zesia.

Mr. Gorouyar explains about how electrons move in normal materials, and how they move in superconductors.

"So like, when the electrons all point the same way, then it's a superconductor?" asks Akhtih.

"Indeed so, one might even say that their behaviour is similar to the Code of Demeanour in the Scriptures which says that Free thought is the begetter of Disorder, and Uniform thought is the way of life."

"omg, superconductors are totes righteous", says Girned.

Louella's Diary

Dear mum, we learned about superconductors today, there was this levitating magnet, but it wasn't heresy, it was totally righteous. Science is fun.

I've written a few other things in the meantime :) Just kind of stuck with this one atm.

Eve source redefined (again) how capsuleers are selected and trained. 99.9th percentile in intelligence and fitness and so on and so forth, and the age requirements and all that, as well as the whole euthanasia thing.

Instead of what was the process in the past - a gene for capsule compatibility, and attaching implants to someone's brain, and hoping for the best.

So kind of stuck because really, if Lou's in the 99.9th percentile for intelligence, then lol.

If that is the case, then I will burn my EVE Source Book, if I ever buy one.

Considering how moronic many capsuleers behave, I would say the  99.9th percentile for intelligence criteria is not working at all.

I will go with the special gene theory, which at least can explain, why the empires would want to invest in imbecile capsuleers. As obviously an imbecile capsuleer is still better than a non-capsuleer.

The genes are still there, just not as much of a hard requirement (Source implies that having genetic compatability helps, but resisting mindlock can also be trained). so is the attaching implants to the brain, Source actually explicitly confirms that you don't need to clone to be able to get the implants and be able to get in a pod. The euthanasia is just a psych test thing.

And the book explicitly says that it's how things are done in the current year. Last time these things came up, CCP went out of their way to clarify that it was a change in how things were done, so I'd say people can consider the same for the current ones. It's how things are done now, but people who came before, came before, and their stories still work.

As far as the 98% intelligence thing... I still subscribe by the belief a lot of capsuleers get around that due to connections and riches, and many others come in at that level but lose it after synaptic degradation from cloning. Because yeah, most of the playerbase kind of flies in the face of that.

Sehrazah and Louella are reading books about social customs in the library.

"How come your grandad and you have the same name, Louella?" asks Sehrazah.
"Oh, that's cos mum had like, one of those thingie marriages to my dad, one of those matrilineal ones. Same as my grandad did with my grandma. Technically Dougans isn't his name either, but cos he was an Army officer and my grandma is a Holder then she married him matrilinearly", says Louella.
"Oh, that's interesting !"
"Yeah, it like, keeps the name and stuff, and means I'm the one who inherits and stuff."
"Cool. So what does your dad do ?"
"I don't know, like, I think he's some kind of agent for the Imperial diplomatic service ? I've never actually like, met him ?"
"Really ? that's a bit unusual ?"
"I know! I said that to Mum and like, I said 'how come dad doesn't live with us?' and she was like 'sometimes it's best to live apart from your husband, when you get older you'll understand' and I was like, pffffft."
"So you want a live-in husband when you get older?"
"Totally! I'll like, build a shed in the garden for him to live in. Men totes like sheds!"
"Heheheee!"
"heheh"

Some time later

Biology

"Good morning class, today we shall be looking at medical imaging, and how it is used for monitoring the health of a pregnant woman" says Miss Nisouman.
"Ultrasound is one such imaging method, using waves of high frequency sound to look inside the human body"

Sets of ultrasound imaging equipment are distributed amongst the class.

"The sound waves reflect off the different layers of tissue, which allows an image to be built up"

"Now, if you've quite finished ultrasounding each other, we'll have a look at the slaves you're using for your human breeding lessons"

The class put the ultrasound equipment down, until the pregnant slaves arrive.

Louella's group examines Hazli with the ultrasound, and peer at the images on the device.

"I don't know how doctors make sense of these images, it's all wibbly", says Sehrazah.
"Try putting more of that gloop on"
"that's better, still a bit wibbly though"
"look, that line looks like a head, omg so does that line"
"Miss Nisouman?"
"What is it, Louella?"
"we don't understand this image?"
Miss Nisouman has a look. "Oh, well that's interesting."
"What is it, miss?"
"It seems Hazli here is carrying twins."
"omg, awesome!"

After ultrasound imaging, the class look at other imaging techniques.
