Negative factor; it's a State propaganda-piece, as allways bitching about events they brough on themselves, crying about consequences to their own stupidity and glorifying an act of "sacrifice" that was anything but.

That seems like a bit of an overreaction to me..

It's a Pro-Caldari corp.
It's named Wiyrkomi Honor Guard.
It's recruiting.
Bloodbird,
You're the one who doesn't get it. It's simply a video, it's meant to provoke a patriotic response from people wanting to support the State (since WHG is a State-loyal corp). It's not supposed to give you information, it's simply supposed to interest you.
The corp name drop then makes you go, "Huh, I wonder what these guys are about" and you look us up in one of the various places we have information (in game, forums, here, etc). That's really all it's for.
I'm a little worried about the video, honestly. For reasons other than the above-stated opinion on the Caldari mindset.
What's the video supposed to do? As a recruitment piece for a corp I'm assuming that providing info about that corp is desired. It does none of that.
Towards the end we get the corp name and an emblem, and a bit later after that, the "recruitment is open" message. Great, so we know three things.
It's a Pro-Caldari corp.
It's named Wiyrkomi Honor Guard.
It's recruiting.
Other than that the video is very much a Pro-Caldari possibly Anti-Gallente piece with generalized themes in it, it really don't tell us much about the corp it was made for; what do they do, who leads, where do they live, what do they want, am I fit to join?
It's very well made, but appears to have missed the point, unless I'm the one who don't get it /o\
It's a recruitment video, of course it's viewable as propaganda.
However, can we please keep negativity of that nature out of the thread? That's a viewpoint I can understand a Federal character having, but it's hardly something to bring into OOC.
Thanks.
The patriots are willing to negotiate alternative ways to acquire Caldari Prime other than through war, but they know that they can only see their dream come true by convincing the Federation of the economical and, most importantly, militaristic superiority of the Caldari State. This is what they strive for.
So, we joined STPRO and everyone seems pretty upset about that IC.
It got me thinking, I created the Honor Guard under Wiyrkomi because they seemed to focus the most on honesty and integrity in their dealings and I couldn't find anything in-game or various resource sites that would indicate they were anything but. (Other than the shadiness behind their current leadership family).
However, apparently there's been some recent updates to the CPD and the Patriot bloc since I left and came back and I haven't found them yet either. Is Wiyrkomi a staunch supporter of the Provists as has been suggested or is that simply political maneuvering IC?
I wouldn't read too much OOCly into the IC reactions, by the way. And, as we frequently see IRL, it is fairly common for individuals and organizations to feel the need to support their nation even when they dislike the leadership at the highest levels.
Generally regarded as the most powerful faction, the Patriots are an alliance of Lai Dai, Wiyrkomi, and the mighty Kaalakiota, who between them and their subsidiaries possess capabilities rivaling those of the other two Caldari political factions combined. They are genuinely patriotic and extremely proud.
However, that rather jingoistic pride has been mortally injured by Heth's politically vicious rise. As a result, they generally refuse to admit, even to each other, that many of the things Heth has done are exactly what they themselves have wanted to do all along. While the wounds are still too fresh for them to feel anything but hatred for him, they realize that to defy him openly would harm the State (and their dominant position within it) immeasurably, so for now they play along with him and pretend (as much to themselves as to anyone else) that they're not immensely enjoying giving the Gallente a black eye.
Wiyrkomi's in with the patriots, who're in with Kaalakiotaa, which is in with Heth.
Wiyrkomi is a patriot corporation, it holds many of the same intercorporate and international positions as its fellow patriots, Kaalakiotaa and Lai Dai. It does not mean they are lock step or do not compete with each other.
No way man. You totally want your enemies to stay viable because otherwise you're just gonna get bored.
Heth put his cronies in key positions within Kaalakiota. This does not mean he has the undying support of KK's billions of employees, especially the millions of mid and upper level managers whose property and wages he seized to fund StaPro. The lower class probably care little about, or understand little of internal state politics and intergalactic policy. The people who actually understand and care about such things and affiliate themselves with the Patriot faction out of knowledge vice indoctrination are the upper and middle class Heth has alienated.
As for Lai Dai and Wiyrkomi, they need their contracts with the Caldari Navy, Kaalakiota, and probably StaPro now too. What they don’t need is the other five mega’s tearing them apart because they don’t have KK’s backing. Heth pretty much has the entire State at gun point with very few people, even in Kaalakiota, actually loyal to him.
Heth != Kaalakiota.
Provist != Patriots.
Here's what Heth does control. It was stated in TBL that Heth finally brought "pure" meritocracy to the State (and likely the main trait that's deemed "meritorious" is loyalty to Heth).
So while Heth doesnt necessarily have the control and loyalty of the population, he has the loyalty of the new generation of young "Meritocracts", young leaders who will be increasingly growing in power and who owe their new power and position to Heth.
Thats enough for a dictator to work with.
Okay....
So once again, without provocation, Ken has created an epic video for the Honor Guard that leaves me speechless.

Seen you folks around Black Rise and The Citadel. According to one of my corporation members, two WHG Merlins are a blob
Simple, he can't count. Usually the militias go for:
One, two, blob. :D
if (theirships > ourships)
{
printlocal ("blobbers!")
}
Oh, I've been accused of blobbing when in two destroyers, so two Merlins isn't much of a stretch.
Wish you guys nothing but good things. Kick ass in the name of the State
Wish you guys nothing but good things. Kick ass in the name of the State
That's what they are doing right now.
The interesting and testing part comes when they have to handle repeatedly dying for the State as well.
Have fun!
Have fun!
Yeaaah. Earlier, I used to mentally refer to my ships with the definite article. As in, "Tonight I'll take out the Merlin," or "I'll need the Ishkur for this."
And then I came to Black Rise.

I don't know if you have seen this (http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Tyunaul_Seituoda)... but it looks like background treasure to me!
The State and Region bank existed before the State or any of the regions had been discovered?.
If they need volunteer fact checkers all they have to do is ask.
I personally think I prefer the original, if only because I can let the voice that's reading the text sound however I wish (which I typically picture a very prominent, military commander voice).
I have been meaning to try a voiceover track for one of our vids and I finally had a chance to sit down and record one today. Please enjoy "You Were Born for This" now with more talking:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SlnJBCl06P0&hd=1
Exploration has actually been the best move WHG has made so far, with the gains outstripping even the loss of my Gila in the line of duty. Good rp spinner (as long as you only focus on each escalation arc once in a press-release manner) and a good community activity (especially with the feds and pirates patrolling in greater numbers recently). Want moar pithum a/x-type drops nao!
Even the caldari government said it was a cowardly act of terrorism, and set the Dragonaur as KoS terrorists due to it..
ok.. necroing a much earlier point... :P
The recruitment video.
First off, damned good video. :)
The only negative point I could really make, is the inclusion of a single, albeit very short, clip of the events at nouvelle rouvenor. Even the caldari government said it was a cowardly act of terrorism, and set the Dragonaur as KoS terrorists due to it..
(i will admit, since TEA, things may have changed, but the official stance still seems to be that the dragonaur are enemies of the state)
aaaanyways... enough nasty necro behaviour. :P

Well there's probably a difference between what the Megacorps do in order to operate and profit in the Federation and the undisclosed desires of Caldari in the State. Just because the CEP may have thought it prudent to officially say Nouvelle Rouvenor was an act of terrorism perpetrated by the Dragonaur does not mean every citizen of the State necessarily agreed with it. Then there's other factors such as being able to deny any State involvement in the actions of groups such as the Dragonaurs or CDI in the Federation or the potential inability to control such groups to advance Megacorp/State agendas and the threat they posed to Megacorp power and legitimacy.
There doesn't currently have to be a change in the official stance the State has with the Dragonaur because Tibus Heth and the CPD probably have enough sway to ensure their survival.
I hope everyone is enjoying the ongoing story arc. ;)

I'm certainly enjoying watching it all unfold with no small degree of popcorn involved.
Who knows how it will all end, eh?
It's the best advertisement for the FDU I've seen in a while.No shit, you've unmasked our nefarious plot. :cube:
No shit, you've unmasked our nefarious plot. :cube:
the plot was the dissolution of WHG
No shit, you've unmasked our nefarious plot. :cube:
Wait, I thought the plot was the dissolution of WHG while providing some interesting RP for people to follow and eat buttered popcorn as events unfold?
That's what it looks like to me anyway.
