Title: Now with less White Queen of Doom
Post by: Silas Vitalia on 19 Mar 2013, 13:26
Some of you might have noticed the first round of 'makeover' for Silas' appearance. Some think it nice, some think it shite. What say you backstage!?

I've always thought of her as the black hair white eyes type. Never liked the all white. Made her look like a past her prime actor mature porno.

I am not fond of the new one tbh. It makes her look like an amarrian housewife (sorry, don't take it wrong ^^).

If you had added "wench" or something similar to all options I'd have had more choices to pick from  :|

I like the real eyes and new hairstyle, but I think the pose and makeup needs a lot of work. She looks older in that picture, which may or may not have been your intention.

At any rate, I think her pose and makeup does need a bit of work. I'd be willing to help you, if you want. :)

The new "normal" look caught by surprise at first, but I like it. I agree with Kat though, some pose revision would go a long way. :)

Danke. I didn't know until yesterday you could keep chats open while remaking appearance, so I had to pull the trigger early the other night.

Will work on pose/makeup, thanks for opinions!

Not empty quoting. Even Aldy would have a boner while hatefully staring down that face.

Yea all the photos I use for her are of the same actress, these many years :)

It's why I was super upset with new char. generator not being 'flexible' enough as the True Amarr facial limits had no chance of matching the lovely Karina Lombard.

Repeating what I said in-game yesterday, but I really like this one. One of the few Amarrian portraits that isn't trying to look young and instead rocks the middle-aged look that Amarrian women should have.

I personally despised the old look. She looked rather casual, which contrasted strongly with her clever, manipulative demeanor. And the blank white eyes looked very silly (as they do 99% of the time, for any character). Plus the long white hair framing her tanned skin looked off.

Thanks.

I really had liked the long white hair look, but part of that because it was SO completely different than the last 4 or 5 years of the portrait (standard Amarr lady short hair).  It was 180 degrees crazy-pants makeover and I loved it for that.

The eyes, well they've just been that way since 2006 :/  We'll see!  Will be spending time with this tonight hopefully, unless more of my blues want to suicide more bhaalgorns to obvious cyno baits! Derp a derp

Probably late to the conversation, but I like the new look. It makes Silas look like more of a real person.

Though, reign of terror is easier if one isn't a real person, so.  :s

I really like the eastern European look she has going on. Very old world traditional. She doesn't look quite as evil off the bat now though.

Avatars are entirely subjective, and there is absolutely no objective standard of what is considered a 'good' avatar. Everyone has differing ideas of what they think looks best. So just go with what you like.

White eyed avatar is weird voodoo lady.

Looks good! I like it and the lighting :D though it would benefit from being centered and zoomed out a little I think (enough so the top of her head isnt out of frame)

I'm not sold at all on the new pic(s).

Eyes and hair color don't really matter, but I think you'd be better served with a hairstyle that lets you show off as much face as possible.

This style might work for some, but Silas comes across as strong, domineering and confident. She doesn't seem the type to hide her face behind her forelocks.

I like the style but agree with post above. Do not hide face.

How... mundane, suffice to say I'm disapointed.

I realise that the cool Silas of old will never return due to the new chargen, but if you really put some time into it I'm sure you could draft something of similarly memorable proportions - not this sad shadow of her former glory  :(

Lose the eyes and the earrings, she looks like Esmeralda in her 40's now :<

Bring back the eyes, her special eyes.

This is a lot better than the one you initially posted.  I'm partial to white haired/eyed Silas though :)

Honestly, I could see both as 'being' Silas.

However, a female Holder of Influence has a different face for the world than she does having tea in her kitchen.

I like the new Silas, but I don't see it being the face projected to the rest of the cluster. 'New' Silas should be kept for more intimate situations, imho.

The white eyes, while perhaps not necessarily blindness, are something I've intrinsically identified as part of Silas' character. Seeing her without them is quite strange.
