Running a joint Amarr-Minmatar effort against some illegal slavers operating out of the edge of the Domain region. We pulled together Khanid, Liberal and Conservative Amarr, Hardline and Negotiating Republic supporters, and even a couple freelancers to RP out this huge operation that included a long hunt concluding in a simultaneous space and (RPed) land battle. Throughout all of it, the person mainly responsible for the arc - Ciarente - was using a rough dice-roll system to determine our success at some thing, which made it pretty fun.

Well, mine was probably the Ordo/White Rose war.

At the time, I was the founder/leader of White Rose, which was a tiny semi-pro-sansha corp (OOCly, less actually involved with Nation than, say, Naqam), and I was friends with Deckhard Aura.

Deckhard Aura was an Amarrian loyalist at the time, but had taken a dislike to another Amarrian loyalist, Hitome Kei. He wanted her assassinated, and her corpse. I was amenable, as I already had an enemy in another Amarrian organization, CVA, whose space I considered a prime raiding spot for my solo or duo cruiser suicide roams.

So, under the cover of a Sansha/Amarr disagreement, I declared war on the Ordo. The losses on both sides were fairly balanced, which I consider pretty cool, considering that White Rose was outnumbered about 15 to 1. Even better, by refusing to deny that a certain Pezzle was instigator of the war, I was able to fool Hitome and the rest of the Ordo into believing that CVA, in the person of Pezzle, had paid me to war-dec The Ordo. I did this without telling a single untruth.

This was also the same war in which I auctioned off another corpse for forty million ISK, contributed to Ruby Amatucci's Tomorrowland Orphanage.

About a week or two in, I finally achieved my goal. After a day or two of camping and skirmishes, I undocked my faithful Abaddon in Ashab (IIRC), and warped to the Ordo's favorite station. There, I discovered Hitome undocking. Slowly, my Abaddon locked, and I blew her ship into Amarrian paradise. Then, once again, slowly locking the pod, and...pop. Corpse acquired, I quickly made off with my prize, which was contracted to Deckhard post-haste.

It's no tale on the level of Istvaan's exploits, but it was insanely fun nonetheless.

The other epic thing, although perhaps not RP, was when I, along with some others in Liandri, accidentally started the Asakai fight.

Overseeing this operation that resulted in killing Revan and her cronies while they were in the middle of meeting with ISD in space having pictures taken and being interviewed.  They were putting on some sort of event.  We crashed the party.  I didn't make the mails, but was there to drink the tears and rage in the name of freecaptains everywhere.

Or a lot of other Mercy's Keep dramas, showcased in the series Days of our Keep.

This was also the same war in which I auctioned off another corpse for forty million ISK, contributed to Ruby Amatucci's Tomorrowland Orphanage.

Which was very sweet, and which she'll never forget.  :cube:  And of course, she's never going to stop trying to get him back in the fold, either.

My most fun RP scene in EVE still has to be the one where I tried to buy the as-of-yet unborn puppies off someone who insisted on roleplaying a pregnant furry, the logs of which event is still on these boards somewhere.

The Exalted-MXD war is still a general high point for me, though. Going out scouting as Ruby and finding and killing Andreus in a Hulk in lowsec still ranks as my favorite kill in EVE of all time, and the wardec manipulations that followed were awesome. The entire affair was great fun for me, though, even the parts of it that didn't go as well - such as when I almost lost Katla's Myrmidon to Andreus' Maelstrom after taunting him from outside of the station where he was docked, and ended up getting counter-camped in a different station.

This. Mercy's Keep had a lot of stuff going on most of the time. The masquerade ball and holiday party were awesome fun in particular. Loved the mistletoe drones. Those were fucking hilarious.

Can't say I've had an epic moment in RP tbh...maybe the most 'epic' thing was when Anslo went from show host to doctor in front of everyone in like...5 minutes.

EDIT: Wait actually the Caldari Prime evac was epic. I just did it alone at first and didn't think people were around. Then, outta nowhere, everyone came.

EVERYONE.

I teared. :3

I miss Mercy's Keep. I remember Lasa almost getting stabbed there by Mathra in my early RP days *plays nostalgic music*

My most epic moment was not played out because of *wanker*. It was when Lasa stabbed Tiger to death with the knife that Carmilla made her. That was pretty dramatic and crazy.

Also, Lasa accidentally helping Caine break out of prison. That was fun :)

Many epic memories from Mercy's Keep and attachment channels such as the Mercy's Keep: Library. Majority of my encounters were forever memorable there. Impacting, great story telling and epic lols. One of the best of the memories is Mitara beating the shit out of Vince with a book from the library and discussions with Lyn. I really wish that venue was still around, but with the Knighthood gone, it's best left in the good memories along with the golden days of KotMC.

I have had plenty of good, small RP things, but having just arrived I have not had an 'epic' moment...yet.

Reading some of the stuff that has transpired, I kind of regret not checking out EVE sooner rather than later.

I have many thoughts/ideas/plans I'd like to attempt to pull off with Steff, even if IC they fail miserably.  Normally I only put a little bit of thought into a character and not worry too much about detail or recording it, but I think due to a combination of world setting and the people I have met, I have desires to build stories around Steff.  Just need to find the ward vs flaming trolls and I should be good to go :)

Mercy's keep was epic. The anniversary ball was amazing, if a little chaotic. Other fond memories include debating/drinking with Ashar KorAzor, Other Amarr corps showing up to look down their noses at the rabble, the neverending series of IC arguements that for the most part avoided devolving into serious drama meltdowns, and of course several scenes with Vince  :cube:

I think that or a couple private scenes have been favorites. Particularly Karm describing a particularly fun night in a dramiel   ;), and ICly watching AT9.

Probably, for Aria, treating Kyoko Sakoda for suicidal depression through forced perspective: disemboweling the suicidal Kyoko with a dagger (Kyoko expected Aria to slit her throat, not her belly), then waiting until Kyoko passed out before putting a capsule-style cloning rig on Kyoko's head and turning up in the cloning bay with a sidearm immediately thereafter to ask whether Kyoko was still in love with death.*

Apparently it worked.

Instead, much to Aria's chagrin, Kyoko fell in love with Ethan Verone and split with Ghost Festival, taking half our pilots with her.

Yeah the masks were great; Esna was wearing a mask based on the front of an Avatar. His idea, iirc - he got Morwen a mask based on the ELA subsystem from the Legion, because she was there as his guest/date for the evening. xD

Aldy kept telling me it's open but nobody in there every time I check. .___.

It's "open", but only accessible to a few people. Aldy decided to ban everyone during his "I wanna be Aritcio" period and then give access back to people on a case-by-case basis often requiring what were (imo) extremely unreasonable requests in exchange for access to a capsuleer hangout.

That was partly why it died off - him going to PIE and then having several periods of inactivity without properly re-opening the place did the rest, iirc.

This will probably be meaningless to most of you...

Back in the day when Shin was in Jericho Fraction, we were at war with the Curse Alliance. It wasn't a particularly hot war, since they were in Curse and we were in Pure Blind. It was more of a proxy war. One of the powerhouse corps of CA was Oracle, an old Minmatar freedom fighter corporation. One of the biggest spokespeople in Oracle was Wren. Shin and Wren got to be friends, and over the course of about a month of very intense RP she helped him understand that Oracle had lost their way and that Oracle's fate was ultimately the fate of any who held to a nationalist, border-keeping philosophy. Wren had a crisis of faith which led to him abandoning Oracle and joining JF as a postnationalist.

Epic memories? Lots of them. The grand balls that Revan held (that actually got old-Seph named three years in a row as influential capsuleer of the year by her), the discussions with the Speaker of Truths, defending the Bleak Lands against the Defiants, trying to keep House Miyan and Darabi out of eachother's hands diplomatically (and failing to do so in the end), the time Promethian Child (the other founder of the Ordo) turned against us, the hunting of Leopold Caine when he was expelled, killing a Republic ambassador in perfect radio silence without anyone knowing, spying here and there, debating philosophy and politics in the Drinkers Cathedral...

Sorry, but I can't choose one. As for Catillah, he's had great moments, but still working on reaching a really epic one.

Of the public ones, I'll have to say my managing not to get Vieve podded during the Malkalen Disaster (while RPing in three channels -and- Vent simultaneously), or hauled out of her pod and executed.  The home front fallout from her inviting the Caldari to shoot Federation supporters (including one of her Strix corpmates, Gabriel Dicozza) interfering with the rescue and recovery efforts or the investigation participation was intense, surreal (e.g. The Lily of Nennamalia) and lasted for years.
Title: Re: your most epic moment in RP?
Post by: Victoria Stecker on 07 Jun 2013, 21:34
I've had a handful, "epic" might be a stretch for most of them (dramallama being a better descriptor), but one stands out.

There was a man, [Redacted] whom Stecker had grown to trust entirely. They'd been dating for a good while and she finally decided he should see the ugly violent side of her so he could make a more informed decision about whether to keep dating the dangerous psychopath. So she tells him to shackle her and then hit her or otherwise piss her off, thus causing psychological and physiological shenanigans (oh god what a terrible character I made).

The problem is that he's a gentleman, and refuses to hit her. So she tells him to do something to piss her off.

So instead he explains that while she's been restrained, he has poisoned her, using a poison created to target her specific genetic makeup. It was such an amazing betrayal of trust, and so incredibly well played, that it had me shaking OOC at the same time that Stecker was losing her shit IC. Needless to say, once [Redacted] had seen everything he needed to, he explained that it was all a lie.

This, ofc, made Stecker that much angrier, that he had decided to be such a "gentleman" that he would tell a devastating lie rather than hit her, despite the fact that it would be infinitely more damaging. It took her a while to forgive him.

Anyhow, the betrayal was so thorough and well played that it remains one of my most distinct memories from EVE RP even after I've been away from the game.

1. Telling Thoun Gaterau precisely where he could shove it, even if I did lose that battle.
2. Outing the "SoFCode" characters as cat's-paws of Revan's, making her/them so angry she/they hired mercenaries against us. Which we then proceeded to defeat so handily they felt compelled to return their hiring fee.
3. Getting the supplies to Rilnais and spitting in the eye of the Serpentis. (Which became even more satisfying when I was made aware that CCP expected the mission to fail, and were forced to change their plans for that storyline.)
4. Liberating Intaki from Caldari occupation in early YC 112 when Caldari loyalists had promised we would never do any such thing.
5. Defending Intaki from Sansha invasion in late YC 112 to such a degree that no abductions were reported.

1) Getting conned (ICly at least) into smuggling drugs for Istvaan when I was about three weeks old. It was epic. I sweated every gate thinking customs was going to get me and my shiny new navitas. Thank you, Istvaan!

2) the slave rescue op referenced by Esna above. It was pretty awesome to see so many people come together for it, and watching them negotiate co-operation across political lines for the op. I ran a channel, and did the narration/combat rolls for the out-of-pod stuff, but the people who turned up did the diplomacy and the flying and I found out the outcomes later. It was pretty awesome to see sworn enemies turn up together and find out they'd privately negotiated ceasefires to be there.

3) The RP that was the basis of the series of stories 'Into the Dark (http://silvernight-fiction.blogspot.com.au/2009/07/into-dark-one.html)' with Silver.

4) This might seem relatively tiny but it gave me a huge thrill - watching gates for the fleet busting the last bunker during EM's FW campaign a couple of years ago and seeing Graelyn come through with the Amarr fleet. It turned a fairly tedious and immersion-breaking militia fleet op into real RP.

I) The Maut Incident, where we manipulated the anti-Sansha coalition's intelligence before the Tyrannis expansion. The net result was about 700+ people dog piling a system that had nothing in it except them before downtime.

II) The end of the Sansha live events before Incursion, where big man Sansha Kuvakei was at the Promised Land in person. A anti-Sansha affiliated fleet arrived on scene with about 25 battleships+supports against my Chimera and the Revenants.

"This Chimera will not survive their damage."

"A moment," and then Sansha himself RR'd my chimera through the enemy DPS. I right about shat myself as I crawled back from 40%? shields.

Well, mine was probably the Ordo/White Rose war.

Vikarion,
Thanks for the interesting read. I have several RP highlights, all of them at the Ordo Quaesitoris. And the White Rose war was among the best.

I remember it from the other side as a member of OQ at the time. It was probably the only war involving OQ that I enjoyed because we were evenly matched (your skill versus our numbers) and motived by spontanious RP... What I mean by that is that it wasn't: "Let's pretend that we are raiding slaves on X planet, and you can try to intercept us.." . but it developed naturally because you had a good reason to declare war on us and try to kill us. There was no RP pretending required at all. It was as "real" as you can hope RP to get in this game while still feeling immersed.

I recall that you were good at getting into the heads of our members both in-game and through the forums. But also that you were gracious on the occasions when you suffered losses yourself.

I admit that up to reading your post here I hadn't believed that Hitome's corpse was the true objective of the war. Though there were others that did. I was one of those that you duped into making me believe that there was a broader scheme going on created by other Amarrian loyalists who disliked us. For a corp with a background based on secrecy and intrigue I can't tell you enough how great you made our RP for the duration of the war and even the weeks following it as we tried to find out more information.

My most memorable and cherished moment in RP can be found here: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=2566112#post2566112 (https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=2566112#post2566112), when Kor chose to speak out against Heth. I remember the night before I wrote that post I asked John what his character would think IC about Kor's actions and received a very vague answer of approval. So, with somewhat hesitant hands, I said #yolo and wrote the aforementioned post on the IGS. The reaction from the rest of the community was very surprising to me. The most surprising thing, however, was when Falcon posted an article detailing the event (found here: http://community.eveonline.com/news/news-channels/world-news/anti-provist-rally-sparks-civil-unrest-on-malkalen-v (http://community.eveonline.com/news/news-channels/world-news/anti-provist-rally-sparks-civil-unrest-on-malkalen-v)), and I somehow managed to successfully carve Kor's name into the fabric of EVE history.

I was surging with so many feelings ranging from awesome to super-facking-awesome. The IC messages of support both on the thread and through evemails I got also made me feel very lubbed and special <3. Definitely best RP moment, evah!
