EvE Online Alignment Chart?
« on: 21 Oct 2011, 08:41 »

I guess all of you have at least heard of the D&D alignment chart, for those who haven't:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alignment_chart

I was just wondering if there is one for the factions of EvE Online and if not we could make/discuss one?

I have not seen a chart on faction alignments for EVE factions before. I will give you my personal views on the overall alignment of the empire factions. You will find all alignments represented in each empire faction.

Caldari State: Lawful Neutral with Neutral Evil elements in the elites.
Gallente Federation: Mostly Neutral Good and Chaotic Good society
Amarr Empire: Lawful Neutral society with some of the elites being Neutral Evil
Minmatar Republic: A mix of Chaotic Neutral and Chaotic Good

I think I'd have more fun pinning individual players to an alignment ;)

Amarr Empire: Lawful Evil
Caldari State: Lawful Evil
Gallente Federation: Chaotic Evil
Minmatar Republic: Chaotic Evil

And why?

Amarr: Wish to enslave everyone, first literally and then being held under their opressive religion.
Caldari: Work for the good of the State! More ISK for the President-CEO's wallet!
Gallente: Buy Quafe to show how FREE you are! Also, more ISK for my wallet!
Minmatar: Ruled by shadow society (Elders in team of key tribal leaders), the population is kept intentionally in poverty as a good recruitment ground to have fighters go kill the evil Amarr. (...actually, that'd pretty sure be more like Neutral Evil. If the most of them wouldn't be actually working to different crime lords, anyway, which kind of makes it CE again.)

Be my guest ;)

Well, let's see...

Faction - Alignment (Leader - Alignment)

Amarr Empire - Lawful Neutral (Jamyl Sarum - Chaotic Good/Evil)

I guess that most of the Amarr can't afford slaves and just try to live a just life. Jamyl's alignment is because of her being a split personality, with one half being quite ruthless.

Caldari State - True Neutral (Tibus Heth - Chaotic Evil)

Most people in the State just try to survive in their cruel world of megacorporations. Heth would commit a genocide on the Gallente if given the chance.

Gallente Federation - Lawful Neutral ( Jacus Roden - ?)

Used to be Lawful Good, but since the creation of the Black Eagles they clearly lost a huge ammount of their innocence. I don't know Roden enough to asign him an alignment.

Minmatar Republic - Chaotic Good/Neutral/Evil (Maleatu Shakor - True Neutral)

Chaotic because several governmental corporations (like the RJD or RSS) seem to be acting on their own without being controlled by the government. The rest depends on how eager the individual Matari is to achieve revenge. Shakor is seems to have become a bit quiter (wiser?) then before the Elder Wars. Could be only a deception though.

Jove Empire - True Neutral

CONCORD Assembly - Lawful Neutral

Ammatar Mandate - ?

Hard to tell... now that Ardrishapur calls the shots over there anything could happen with the remaining Ammatar

Guristas Pirates - Chaotic Neutral

ORE - True Neutral

Angel Cartel - Chaotic Neutral/Evil

The Society - ?

The InterBus - True Neutral

Khanid Kingdom - see Amarr

Mordu's Legion Command - Chaotic Neutral
(Hey, they are mercs! :P )

The Syndicate - Lawful Evil

Thukker Tribe  - see Minmatar

The Servant Sisters of EVE - Lawful Good/Neutral

The Blood Raider Covenant - Lawful Neutral/Evil

Serpentis - Lawful Evil

Sansha's Nation - Neutral Evil (Sansha Kuvakei - Chaotic Evil)

Can't be done. Could call the Gallente Federation system as 'Lawful Neutral' due to its constitutional legal system, abiding by bureaucracy, etc. Could call it 'Lawful Evil' for abiding by international laws to achieve dominance of other empires.

But its citizens are likely 100% sincere about how the Gallente way is honestly better than all the rest, so they're any of the three Goods. v0v

Same reason it can't be done with modern nations.

With "usual" western RL considerations, imo :

Empire Factions
Amarr Empire : Lawful Evil (liberals = Lawful Neutral/Pure Neutral and a few Lawful Good)
Caldari State : Liberals & Patriots : Lawful Neutral, Pragmatics : Chaotic Neutral with a few Chaotic Evil
Gallente Federation : Doves : Neutral Good, Hawks : Lawful Neutral, Vultures : Chaotic Evil, U-Nats : Lawful Evil
Minmatar Republic : Tribalists : Lawful Neutral, Freedom Fighters : Chaotic Neutral/Good
Ammatar Mandate : more or less same than the Amarr
Khanid Kingdom : same
Mordu's Legion : Chaotic Good

Pirate Factions
Sansha's Nation: Lawful Evil
Guristas: Chaotic Evil
Blood Raiders: Lawful Evil
Angel Cartel: Chaotic Evil
Serpentis: Chaotic Evil

Other Factions
Rogue Drones: Chaotic Neutral, or Chaotic Evil
Jovian Directorate: True Neutral, Neutral Good Tendencies
CONCORD: Lawful Good (UN like)
SOCT: True Neutral or Lawful Neutral
Sisters of EVE: Neutral Good

Non-traditional alignment perception:

Amarr Empire: Lawful Good, with Lawful Evil tendencies.
Caldari State: Lawful Neutral, with Lawful Evil tendencies.
Gallente Federation: Chaotic Good, with Neutral Evil tendencies.
Minmatar Republic: Lawful Neutral, with Chaotic Evil tendencies.

Guristas Pirates: Chaotic Neutral, with Lawful Neutral tendencies.
Serpentis: Neutral Evil, with True Neutral tendencies.
Angel Cartel: Lawful Evil, with Chaotic Good tendencies.
Blood Raider Covenant: Lawful Neutral, with Chaotic Evil tendencies.
Sansha's Nation: True Neutral, with Neutral Evil tendencies.

Rogue Drones: lol humans

The Amarr are driven by their religious belief that it is their duty to spread God and Empire to the universe. There are some who abuse the honest beliefs of their crusader culture, exploiting it for worldly material gain.

The Caldari State is driven by honor, tradition, and Caldari capitalism. Their corporations seek to exploit other sytems in order to increase their own profitability.

The Gallente Federation is driven by the embodiment of human freedoms and civil rights. They are quick to disregard those who do not respect their vision of the world outside of immediate business.

The Minmatar Republic is driven by tradition and Minmatar culture, similar to the Caldari State. Their enslavement to the Amarrians has greatly shaped their worldly views, and they are quick to destroy anything like their oppressors.

The Guristas are driven by more anarchistic and freedom inspired action that is the polar opposite of Caldari tradition. They often act in their own self-interest and further themselves entirely, but strictly impose a system of law to keep themselves in order.

The Serpentis are driven by their black market capitalism and underworld trading, seeking profits. They are often stretch ethical boundaries for their research, but tend to keep towards themselves and behave in a purely reactionary way.

The Angel Cartel is driven by its need to further its underworld powers and illegal influence across the Empires. While they largely exploit every system in their reach to advance their own goals, they often provide indirect benefits to another group by affecting their enemy.

The Blood Raider Covenant is driven by the importance of blood and personal power within their religious doctrine. In order to satisfy their need for blood, they often embark on destruction campaigns to acquire it.

Sansha's Nation is driven by utopianist principles, and tends to focus inwardly on its goals within its own territories. When they operate beyond their borders, they often disregard any existing systems in favor of continuing their own.
